And it’s not only that, it’s Tory party window dressing too.

At the centre of the display is a huge 500 plus page sell out document, which includes a massive back-stop clause, and around it is the dressing of why we should all accept it.

And what they are effectively asking us to do with this Chequers deal and its backstop clauses, is take home a cardboard box with a large rattlesnake in it, with the promise that it can never get out!

Many people are saying that this deal will never get through parliament. But I would bet there are quite a few remain-minded MPs who quietly see this deal as the easiest way to re-enter the EU later via the back door, after all that’s what it looks like it is designed to do. So, if they can’t immediately ’exit from Brexit’ or extend Article 50, what is better for them - this deal or a WTO exit?

But for the EU, which would they prefer - a vassal UK, or us back in as a full member with our difficult ways? Probably the former, which may explain why they are now putting their foot down and saying ‘no more negotiations’.

Also, can you imagine how many UKIP MEPs there would be after the EU elections next year, if the establishment managed to reverse Brexit in the coming months. It would make the SNP results in Scotland post the indyref look like a close race. Is that really an attractive option to our establishment or the EU? No, vassalage is far better. There is therefore the distinct danger that it will be voted through.

Anyway, back to widow dressing. Several cabinet ministers who claim to be Brexiteers, decided to stay on in government to work aga..

Michael Gove has turned down the offer of replacing Dominic Raab as Brexit Secretary but has expressed his full support in the PM and said he will help get a good withdrawal deal.

The Environment secretary has helped to stem the flow of exiting ministers by saying he will stay on in government to help the PM secure a good Brexit deal.

When asked if he had confidence in Theresa May he said:

"I absolutely do." and went on to say:

"I think it’s absolutely vital that we focus on getting the right deal in the future and making sure that in the areas that matter so much to the British people, we can get a good outcome."

What exactly he meant by 'the areas that matter so much to the British people' and 'getting the right deal in the future' is a little unclear, as we've surely got 585 pages of documentation that show the UK will be locked into the EU as a slave colony until the bloc lets us go.

And to help Theresa May further, three other ministers: Liam Fox, Penny Mordaunt and Andrea Leadsom are also said to have come to some sort of collective decision to stay on in government. But how long that will last is anyone's guess.

I think the idea is that they will put this forward as them trying to change things from the inside and maybe try and get the PM to change course. But the latest news from the EU is that they are not up for any more talks, that's it!

However, in an interview earlier today the former Brexit Secretary, David Davis, said that negotiations could still be left open. He also said that the UK had been too ready to offer concessions instead of standing firm.

He referred to Mrs May's proposals as 'dreadful' and that they wouldn't fly by any measure ..

The pressure is mounting on Theresa May. After a raft of resignations yesterday, including those of Dominic Raab and Esther McVey, Michael Gove has reportedly rejected an offer from the PM to become the Brexit Secretary.

Further, Gove is also said to be considering resigning from his post within government as the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

There are also predictions that further resignations are to follow and this alone would almost certainly lead to a challenge to her premiership.

But factor in Jacob Rees-Mogg’s call yesterday for Theresa May to stand down as well his as asking all of those in his Tory European Research Group (ERG) to submit their letters of no confidence in the PM, makes her position untenable.

The PM appeared on LBC with Nick Ferrari fighting a defensive rearguard action to try and salvage both her career and her Brexit In Name Only deal and that’s where Ferrari was able to ambush her with the breaking news that Arlene Foster of the DUP is said to be prepared to remove support for the Tories unless there is a change of PM!

The mountain just gets higher.

But she only has nine days to save this deal - until 25th November when the EU summit is planned to agree the whole thing.

But as I’ve said before, it looks like she’s been taking lessons from the Charge of the Light Brigade:

Forward the May cabinet,
was there a minister dismayed?
Not though the voters knew
someone had blundered,
theirs not to have power
theirs not to reason why
theirs but to waste vote and obey
into the valley of failure
led by the May cabinet.

Remainers to the right of her,
Brexiteers in front of her,

After managing to twist arms and get cabinet endorsement last night, Mrs May declared to MPs in the House today that backing her Brexit deal would be in the national interest.

And trying to scare them all into supporting it she said that it was either her Brexit deal, a no deal Brexit or 'risk no Brexit at all', and that last bit received a lot of whoops of encouragement from what is mainly, of course, a house of Remain backing MPs.

That statement did raise eyebrows and worries amongst Brexiteers, but the Lib Dem leader Vince Cable leapt on it saying in a press release this afternoon:

"Recent events have shifted a People's Vote from being possible to becoming probable. We must prepare to win the argument in the country: there is still time to exit from Brexit."

Well he would, wouldn't he?

And while Theresa May spoke the number of government resignations ratcheted up. With the resignation count so far being eight:

Northern Ireland Minister - Shailesh Vara
Downing Street Director of Legislative Affairs - Nikki Da Costa
Brexit Secretary - Dominic Raab
Dept of Works and Pensions Secretary - Esther McVey
Brexit Minister - Suella Braverman
PPS to Education Ministers - Anne Marie Trevelyan
PPS to Justice Ministry - Ranil Jayawardena
and just recently
the Tory Vice Chair Rehman Chishti, who says he cannot support the government's Brexit plans and also says he is shocked and disappointed at the government's lack of leadership over the Asia Bibi case.

It will be interesting to see if ministers like Andrea Leadsom or Penny Mordaunt follow suit. And you h..

Theresa May might have thought she had kept the Brexit genie corked in the bottle last night, but the government resignations have already started this morning.

It started off with the Minister of State at the Northern Ireland Office, Shailesh Vara saying that it was with sadness and regret that he was resigning but the deal as put forward “….leaves the UK in a half-way house with no time limit on when we will finally be a sovereign state”.

This was followed by the political commentator Guido Fawkes reporting that he understood that Downing Street’s director of legislative affairs, Nikki Da Costa , has resigned. She would be the one to co-ordinate legislation through parliament. This has not been confirmed, but Guido said: “One can hardly blame Nikki for not wanting to try to navigate this deal through parliament…”

Then came one of the big ones. Dominic Raab, the now former Brexit Secretary, has also resigned citing the withdrawal agreement and two main reasons.

The first being that the regulatory regime proposed for Northern Ireland presents a very real threat to the integrity of the UK and secondly that he could not support an indefinite backstop arrangement.

And according to Tory MP and member of the party’s eurosceptic European Research Group, Anne Marie Morris, the chairman on the 1922 Tory backbench 1922 committee now has thew requisite 48 letters of no confidence in their leader tucked away in his safe.

Speaking on Newsnight she said:

“My belief, but it is a belief without evidence because Graham keeps it close to his chest, that we do have the 48 and what depends on whether or not they can be used is whether or not those individual members who have ..

I was by now hoping to bring news of the outcome of this afternoon’s cabinet meeting where the PM and her ministers are obviously still thrashing through the detail of the Chequers Brexit In Name Only proposals.

The fact that they are all still in there without the last Brexiteers in the cabinet walking out hours ago leads you to wonder if they are caving in.

A couple of previous developments you may have missed.

It turns out says the Independent that civil servants were told to stop including the DUP in Brexit e-mails as its partnership with the Tory party deteriorated. That’ll help mend bridges won’t it!?

And Labour Whips tweeted that “Never seen so many small groups of Tories plotting in the corridors and lobbies. Wonder what it could be about”. I wonder too!

And the press conference to be given by the PM on the results of the cabinet meeting, initially planned for 5 pm was then said to be postponed until 6 PM then when the meeting had finished and now Laura Kuenssberg, the BBC political editor reports that Number Ten says there will be no press conference tonight but a statement will be forthcoming after the cabinet meeting ends.

But she has just followed that up with:

“Senior tory tells me Brexiteer anger so high that seems likely there will be a call for no confidence vote tomorrow - letters going in -“

So I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Anyway, I have the more pressing requirement to go out partying tonight - so I’ll see you all tomorrow, bleary eyed and bedraggled!

Thank you for watching.

The EU is already gloating that, by signing up to this rotten Chequers Brexit In Name Only (BRINO) deal, the bloc will keep all the controls over UK rules and regulations.

This comes from a leaked diplomatic note after a meeting between EU27 diplomats and EU Commission Eurocrats seen by The Times, where it says:

"They must align their rules but the EU will retain all the controls. They apply the same rules. UK wants a lot more from future relationship, so EU retains its leverage."

And the Independent reports something it calls 'political dynamite':

"The leaked written account of the meeting seen by the newspaper also suggests that Britain “would have to swallow a link between access to products and fisheries in future agreements” for the future relationship."

The Chairman of the Tory eurosceptic European Research Group, or ERG, Jacob Rees-Mogg, said:

"She hasn’t so much struck a deal as surrendered to Brussels and given in to everything they want and tried to frustrate Brexit that it’s not so much a vassal state anymore as a slave state."

And the deputy chair of the ERG, Mark Francois, says that even if this deal does get through cabinet it won't get through parliament as, not only are the bulk of the Labour party likely to vote it down, but so will the ERG members and the DUP.

So, cabinet needs to listen and resign now to avoid their own future total political oblivion.

Here's what some of the other Brexiteers have been saying:

As Cabinet Ministers are wheeled into Number Ten for a one to one briefing on the Chequers Brexit In Name Only (BRINO) deal, most of the news seems to point to it being derailed in fairly short order, either by the cabinet, or by the UK parliament or by the EU member states who remember haven’t yet seen the detail of this proposal.

In fact probably by parliament and ultimately the EU member states. I could see cabinet agreeing to it after a talking to, by Mrs May, about party unity and not letting Corbyn in etc.

Anyway, while we wait, to put a market perspective on all of this, Nigel Green, the boss of a huge independent financial advisory consultancy the deVere Group, says that:

“We won’t know if the Brexit deal is good, bad or ugly for another 10 years.  If you’re serious about creating, building and safeguarding wealth in the next decade, you need to consider global opportunities.”

In his opinion selling this Brexit deal to her ministers and to parliament will be an uphill struggle for the PM, but that it will get through - largely because of what he calls “the enormous pressure put on Parliament by the markets and business, which are craving more certainty”.

He then says we should see a temporary sterling rally.

But he also said:

“Make no mistake, this is not the end but the beginning of the Brexit process.”

And, if this UK destroying Chequers Brexit In Name Only deal goes through, then he is absolutely right - as the fight for a true Brexit will have to continue.

Here’s what he said next:

“The ‘certainty’ that’s craved by the markets and business is likely to be short-lived as huge swathes of voters – fuelled by Eurosceptic politicians and other in..

Just as the cabinet ministers were summoned to an emergency meeting the press releases were already being made.

For example, on the business front the head of Brexit at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Andrew Gray, said:

“We welcome the news that the negotiations have progressed and a deal seems now to have been reached between the EU and the UK. However there are still a number of hurdles to be jumped before the deal is binding.

“Whilst today’s developments have reinforced our optimism that a deal between the EU and the UK is the most likely outcome, we still urge business to continue preparing for both a deal and no deal scenario until the deal is ratified.

"Whilst there is still uncertainty about the exact details of our future relationship with the EU, the emerging political agreement will provide helpful clarity on the boundaries of the relationship, which should allow businesses to progress with medium-term planning for post-Brexit scenarios. We urge businesses to continue to prioritise this."

But politically a completely different story.

The Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said:

“We will look at the details of what has been agreed when they are available. But from what we know of the shambolic handling of these negotiations, this is unlikely to be a good deal for the country.”

And the Lib Dem leader Vince Cable said:

“Any Brexit deal will leave the UK weakened and the public poorer.

“And before the ink is dry, the Conservative Party will tear into what little Theresa May has been able to agree.

And according to the Financial Times the EU Chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier says that a Brexit deal is almost ready.

Sterling rose on the news and is currently at about 1.145 euro to the pound.

But Barnier did say there was still a way to go.

The trouble for Mrs May is that according to reports she needs to get the text of any agreement signed off today in order that a summit for the EU to accept it can still be held in November.

I’ve got to be honest, the only end-game I can see approaching is that of the survival of the PM’s Chequers based Brexit In Name Only.

How on earth, after recent talk of cabinet ministers’ disquiet over the terms of that wretched proposal and talk that just about everyone except the PM and a few cronies are going to vote it down, can she even think this kite is gonna get off the ground?

Then there’s the EU, where its member states are chomping at the bit to dig into the detail that they have not yet seen, to make sure it looks after their own disparate needs.

The only things keeping this debacle scraping along the ground instead of an undignified burial in an unmarked grave in the political boneyard is a combination of the weakness of the PM and the antics of our very own domestic Remainers.

The Remainers saw how weak the PM is and exploited it to the full and with the weight of 17.4 million voters on one side and the Remain dominated establishment on the other, she tried to keep a foot in both camps - hence the birth of Chequers.

Now she’s trying to convince everyone that Chequers somehow meets the..

Yet another pro-EU past political heavyweight has been wheeled back into the limelight to say that we can't resolve the current situation, without having another referendum.

Speaking at the Institute for Government, the former Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, said that we are heading for a second referendum.

"I for one have always said I think that there will be a second referendum." He said.

“I believe that in the end the situation will have been seen to have changed since 2016 and that the people should, in the end, have the final say."

But he has come in for some stern criticism with Twitter afire with comments such as:

“We didn't have a say when you sold all our gold at bottom price, did we?”

“Don’t worry Gordon, we can always pay for May’s bungled Brexit deal out of our Gold reserves and some more PFI’s!”

And the most obvious one of:

“And then what happens, why would we accept that result of a 2nd ref if we haven't accepted this result of the 1st?”

But Gordon Brown also said that we must find a new way of listening to the people and to do that he is calling for a new Royal Commission to be set up.

He said this should go out into the regions and nations of the UK and engage in hearings and consultative exercises and be charged with listening to the voices of the British people when they raise concerns about such things as the economy and migration.

And he said we could possibly then get a consensus on these important issues.

Well, my direct answer is we don't need a Royal Commission, we're meant to have MPs, mayors, assembly member..

According to the BBC, “Multiple cabinet ministers expressed significant doubts about the prime minister's preferred Brexit plan from the start”.

And a few of the words used back in July by some of those ministers were ‘worrying’, ‘disappointing’ and ‘concerning’.

The BBC report says that cabinet sources have told its political editor, Laura Kuenssberg, that “…there were widespread doubts about various aspects from many other ministers from the start, including from some former Remain supporters”.

And it went on to say that ministers did not so much willingly sign up to it, as accept it as an undesirable compromise, with one saying it was done with a ‘very heavy heart’.

But ever since then, apart from those that did the honourable thing and resigned, the rest have been content to keep on polishing something they know is made of the substance that cannot be polished!

What on earth were they thinking?

All they’ve done is put their names to an impossible proposal. A proposal the EU can’t accept unless we roll over completely, a proposal the Leavers can’t accept as it would require us rolling over completely and one the Remainers can’t accept because it could leave us permanently worse off than being in the EU.

So Chequers has been completely dead in the water for months and is now about to be sunk by torpedoed from all quarters.

But all we see is the PM pressing on regardless. As someone once said, it makes the Charge of the Light Brigade look like a sensible military decision.

The Prime Minister's push to get her cabinet colleagues to drop any idea of the UK being unilaterally able to walk away from any Irish border backstop arrangement, without the say so of Brussels has been met with resistance.

And one of the more vocal of her opponents in this is the Leader of the House of Commons, Andrea Leadsom.

Talking to BBC Radio 5 Live she said:

"The UK cannot be held against its will in a customs arrangement."

And she went on to say that the UK must have the capability of leaving a customs union when it so wished and the EU should not be able to keep us in it. Because to allow Brussels that control would be to fail to fulfil the will of the people as expressed in the 2016 Referendum and that would lead to Westminster voting it down anyway.

She also said that she would be sticking with government and working towards getting a deal that does not mean that the UK is left stuck in an unwanted customs union with the EU. But that of course puts her at loggerheads with her boss, how long can that last?

And it is thought that up to ten of Mrs May's cabinet colleagues share the views of the Leader of the House, but that they would stop short of resigning over the issue.

But the question is, come the actual vote, what will they do? Resign and vote against, or just vote with the PM's plan?

And the Labour Party is no better and has shown us exactly how confused it is over this issue.

The Labour Leader, Jeremy Corbyn, whose sartorial elegance, or lack of it, failed to wow the crowds at the Armistice Da..

As the 100th 11th hour of the 11th month approaches today, could I ask you all to mark the centenary of the Great War Armistice by attending your local Remembrance event.

And if you can’t attend one please do stop at the appointed time to pause and reflect for the two minutes silence.

Three times last century attempts were made to change the geopolitical structure Europe against the will of those who lived there and, as a consequence, the whole world was plunged into darkness.

The first two attempts led to the horrors of industrialised warfare - something we should remember today, the third left us hanging precariously by a nuclear thread that could have ended it all.

We must remember the sacrifices of those that went before us, because to do otherwise would be to invite the same again.

But we must also realise that people cannot be forced to live peacefully together
, state coercion will always fail in the end.

And the wider the scope of that coercion, the more certain and speedier that failure will be. Hopefully by peaceful means.

That coercion can take many forms, but I would argue that it always always stems from one source - that of a minority trying to control the majority.

Coming on the back of the surprise resignation of Jo Johnson from government, the UKIP MEP Patrick O'Flynn has got wind of a plot by the PM to hold a general election based on her Chequers Brexit In Name Only (BRINO) deal.

"Am told May is now seriously planning for a general election on a manifesto based on her “deal” if it fails to get through Commons." He Tweeted.

This of course would mean the demise of the Tories for many years or even a decade and, unless the electorate all went for UKIP, we'd end up with an ultra left wing government under Corbyn leading to bankruptcy, the loss of all UK assets and possibly terminal EU vassalage.

Now, the PM knows this, so I would suspect that this is internal Tory party fear-mongering to try and keep her back-benchers in line and voting for Chequers.

But one development you may have missed is that Jeremy Corbyn had his first ever publicly acknowledged meeting with Alex Younger, the head of MI6, so that the leader of the opposition could be briefed on the current state of security threats to the nation.

With the Mail reporting that the meeting was called due to fears that the PM's Brexit talks could collapse and trigger a general election.

And a Whitehall source told the Mail:

"The feeling was that the time had come for Mr Corbyn to become acquainted with the workings of the intelligence establishment."

So, MI6 seem to think that Corbyn has inched close enough to the door of Number Ten to warrant a special briefing.

So, with her own Brexiteers hounding her followe..

Just as there was talk that a deal was in the pipeline, EU27 ambassadors have told the EU Commission that they would need to scrutinise any deal prior to them agreeing to it.

This has thrown a king-sized spanner into the timetable and left Olly Robbins scurrying over to Brussels tomorrow to help find a way through.

Up until now of course we’ve all been told that the EU27 were united behind Barnier to get a good deal and they were all as one.

Well, now that a deal is staring them in the face and they don’t quite know all the details, individual member states are getting twitched that this may work for the EU27 as a whole as far as the EU Commission is concerned, but maybe not for their country and its people as an individual nation state.

The EU Commission deputy to Michel Barnier, Sabine Weyard, has been told by representatives of the EU27, including France and Germany, that they need 72 hours to go over the text and that they would not just rubber stamp it.

They are also concerned that the UK will be given some sort of freebie by not having to sign up to all the freedoms and not having to open up our fishing waters to EU27 all-comers etc.

And things have not been helped by this so-called ’tunnel’ procedure that has now been entered, where nation states have very limited access.

Now, under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, the agreement “…shall be concluded on behalf of the Union by the Council, acting by a qualified majority, after obtaining the consent of the European Parliament.”

So if the EU parliament votes it through, then the EU Council..

The MP for Orpington and Minister of State for Transport, Jo Johnson, who is also the Minister for London and the brother of Brexiteer Boris, has resigned from Theresa May's government saying that her plan is a choice between vassalage and chaos.

His surprise resignation has been met with the 'boundless admiration' of his brother, although the two are on different sides of the leave / remain debate. And Jo Johnson is one of those that suggested that the more uneducated people voted to Leave the EU (wonder if he was comparing himself to his brother in that?)

Boris Tweeted:

"Boundless admiration as ever for my brother Jo. We may not have agreed about brexit but we are united in dismay at the intellectually and politically indefensible of the UK position."

"This is not taking back control. It is a surrender of control. It does not remotely correspond to the mandate of the people in June 2016."

Now, since the letter from the PM to the DUP leader Arlene Foster that I talked about this morning was leaked, the government has been trying hard to convince us that Theresa May's Chequers based Brexit In Name Only (BRINO) deal is still a goer. And Jo Johnson obviously doesn't think it is. And I'm sure he will not be the last!

But the Cabinet Minister and de facto deputy to Theresa May, David Lidington, said he was confident that the government would get the deal through parliament.

Speaking earlier today at a meeting of the British-Irish Council, he said that there would be a 'new dynamic' when MPs saw the contents of the deal and that he hoped and believed that a parl..

In what East Antrim MP, Sammy Wilson, is calling a ‘total betrayal’ a leaked letter from Theresa May to the DUP leader, Arlene Foster, suggests that the Brussels plan to put a customs border across the Irish Sea will be put into place as an ultimate backstop to protect the EU single Market, even should there be no Brexit agreement.

The five page letter seen by the Times, is reported to say that this ‘backstop to a backstop’ was still being sought by the EU, but that she would never let a divide ‘come into force’ between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.

The first backstop of course is the UK-wide customs union she wants to set up, and the Irish Sea border would be the backstop to that backstop.

With the result that we will have to stay in the Customs Union backstop until the Irish Sea backstop to a backstop is no longer needed.

The suggestion is that this backstop to a backstop clause will be written into the agreement despite the PM’s previous assertions! And the PM is trying to reassure the DUP that it doesn’t mean anything as it would never be needed.

In the letter she says:

“I am clear that I could not accept there being any circumstances or conditions in which that ‘backstop to the backstop’, which would break up the UK customs territory, could come in to force.”

And the only way it would never be needed or come into force within the Chequers plan, is if the whole UK is kept inside a customs union with the EU, until the EU is satisfied that the backstop to the backstop is no longer needed. i.e. for ever.

It does not take a rocket scientist to work out that the terms of the Backstop to the backstop will override any terms within the UK-wide cust..

With news that some UK MEPs are urging all the MEPs in the EU Parliament to back an extension of the Article 50 timescale, you have to ask, how deep is this anti-democracy in the UK establishment?

It's emerged that SNP MEP Alyn Smyth, has sent an E-Mail to all EU Parliament MEPs asking for their backing in extending the Article 50 process.

In response the UKIP leader Gerard Batten said that those who signed it had:

"revealed themselves for what they are. They are a bunch of snivelling quislings who are desperate to keep their seats on the EU Parliamentary gravy train."

And the former UKIP leader, Nigel Farage MEP, said this shows "there is a palpable level of collusion between the British political class and the EU to stop Brexit."

Smyth's email contained a plea signed by 13 other UK MEPs, for support to keep the UK in 'our EU family'.

And it transpires that German MEP, Hans-Olaf Henkel, replied:

"I support everything which would avoid a Brexit, including anything which could delay it."

And the words 'our initiative' should give the game away of course.

Farage went on to denounce the actions of the UK MEPs involved, saying in the Telegraph that they showed utter contempt for their own people in signing such a letter and were conspiring with the Germans to ensure the UK cannot become competitive post-Brexit.

And Gerard Batten also said that they were utterly contemptible.

And that was exactly what the whole EU system was set up to do of course - to make those that work in it 'go native' and end up living, breathing and thinking the EU way and forget their own pesky nation states.

The full list of those UK MEPs who signed it, is in the descriptions box b..

It looks like the ranks of those opposed to Theresa May’s Brexit plans are swelling as news spreads along the Tory back benches of what such a deal really means for the country.

And the points that are being driven home are, firstly, that while we are in the EU we are forced to be in the customs union and single market. So why, when we’ve voted to leave the bloc would we then agree to still remain locked inside a customs union with the EU?

And secondly, why would we further sign up to a situation that would mean by agreeing to that customs union, the UK would not having the right to leave it when we wanted to. As we would be subject to some sort of separate joint arbitration mechanism i.e. not have control! And we would have to obey all the EU rules across the board as well!

Theresa May’s plan is being touted as a way of ensuring a UK wide, level playing field to prevent a hard border in Ireland. But the EU and its member states see it as a way of ensuring an all encompassing EU and UK wide, level playing field that will force the UK to obey all the rules and regulations and other obligations that EU member states have to observe, in order for us to have that customs union.

This is not what the UK electorate voted for in 2016.

This is basically staying inside the EU single market and customs union via the back door. This is not leaving the EU however you try and dress it up.

And there can only be one reason why the establishment is so keen on pushing this through, and that is because it provides an easy route back into the EU in short order.

The head of the Tory Backbench Eurosceptic European Research Group, Jacob Rees-Mogg said that this was a betrayal of ..

Cabinet ministers have been invited to read the nearly completed text of the EU withdrawal agreement, say reports.

According to Bloomberg, the Prime Minister, Theresa May, is preparing to get her Cabinet colleagues to back her Brexit plan and has invited them to the Cabinet Office to read the latest and almost completed draft of the withdrawal agreement.

The only thing that is missing from the draft is the final Irish border backstop clause, said one of the six people that Bloomberg talked to.

And it will probably have 'It's either this or Corbyn!' in big red capitals on the front cover.

"Ministers expect another Cabinet meeting to be called within days where May is likely to press them to sign off on her Brexit deal, people familiar with the situation said on Tuesday." Reported Bloomberg.

Now, is it naive of me, or wouldn't you think that the UK government cabinet would, as a whole, be kept constantly right up to date with the Brexit plan and have ongoing access to the latest drafts?

After all, how can they run and plan their own departments if they are in the dark?

Those involved have been told by the PM it seems to get up to speed on everything that's been agreed to so far.

Does this mean that they've been ignoring it all this time? Or that they've been left out of the loop on much of it and are being told what's in it after all the civil servants and Eurocrats have done it to death?

You have to ask yourself what input have they really contributed? Or was it all an Olly Robbins affair from start to finish? How far up the food chain is a cabinet minister really?

Now those cabinet ministers are being lined up as political salespeople to go out to the ma..

Is big business about to take the reins of how the UK ends up leaving the EU?

The Prime Minister, Theresa May, is setting up five new business councils to advise the government on how to create the best UK business environment after we leave the EU.

The councils will meet three times a year, two of which will be with the PM and one with a senior cabinet minister, reports the BBC. Each group will have about ten people on it who represent core UK economic sectors and key business groups.

And the councils have been asked by Mrs May to “advise us on the opportunities and challenges facing business as we shape the UK for the future.”

The big names the BBC quotes are: “Tesco boss Dave Lewis, ITV chief Carolyn McCall, entrepreneur James Timpson, and CBI head Carolyn Fairbairn”.

And the companies and organisations involved: “BT, BAE, Rolls-Royce, Prudential, Santander, Tesco, Timpson, ITV and GSK, together with representatives from the CBI, Institute of Directors, EEF, British Chambers of Commerce and the Federation of Small Business”.

Now, it all sounds just fine and dandy - but what will be driving the agenda? The need for big business to stay as close as possible to the EU for their own immediate bottom line and share-holder needs? Or the political imperative of leaving the EU completely?

Now, don’t get me wrong - I welcome that business is involved. But with such a fundamental question as the true sovereignty and independence of the UK at stake and how much pressure a lot of big business has been placing on everyone to try and reverse Brexit through a second EU referendum, you will have to forgive me for being a trifle suspicious.

These new business councils a..

So, Cabinet ministers are going to stare down Theresa May today and tell her to stare down Brussels over the Irish border question.

After recent news that the PM had caved in on just about every Brexit issue, reports are now suggesting that possibly up to a dozen cabinet ministers will be ‘leading a defiant stand’ - to tell Theresa May that she must insist that there is a system in place in any Brexit deal to ensure the UK has control over how long it stays in any backstop arrangement to prevent the return of a hard border in Ireland. Something the Irish PM, Leo Varadkar, has said is unacceptable - he wants up tied in forever.

And as far as one unnamed cabinet minister is concerned, if that mechanism is not in place then she can kiss her deal goodbye, telling the Sun:

“We must have control of the backstop. If Theresa doesn’t stare down the EU and win a mechanism that does this, the whole argument is immaterial as there is zero chance of passing the Commons. She doesn’t have the numbers.”

But she may well disagree on that point given the ghoul of Corbyn leering over their shoulders.

And an unnamed Cabinet Source said:

“It’s important for us to be able to say we really have taken back control and been true to the referendum result.”

And the Telegraph reports that the Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab is very unhappy about how he feels he was recently undermined over the whole Irish border issue by two of his cabinet colleagues.

According to the report he wrote to the PM urging her to change direction in the talks, and now the Brexit Secretary’s office has had to deny rumours that he is thinking of resigning.

These Cabinet Ministers should be waving written and ..

Although Theresa May has denied that any secret Brexit deal has been done, her former Foreign Secretary has felt the need to go to the press with a warning about it.

Over the weekend news came out that Theresa May had forged a secret deal with the EU and was about to bounce it on her Cabinet on Tuesday.

In response she is reported to have spent hours on the phone calling colleagues to assure them that this was not true and was just pure speculation.

Now according to UKIP, sources are saying a deal has been done and that the UK will leave the EU at 11pm on 29th March 2019 - but under the following conditions:

1. The UK will become an "associate" member of the Customs union.
2. The UK will become an "associate" member of the Single Market.
3. The UK will adhere to the rulings of the ECJ and the ECHR if the EU deems it must.
4. The UK will allow free movement of EU citizens into the UK and grant them all the rights of British citizens.
5. The UK will only form foreign trade deals which the EU approves.
6. The UK Parliament will comply with the rulings of the EU Parliament and incorporate these into British Law if the EU demands this.
7. The UK will pay the EU the membership fees agreed with no rebates.

In fact just looking at that list and you can see that Theresa May's deal is worse than staying in the EU. It comes with all the legal and financial obligations with none of the say - but do bear in mind we had minimal to zero say while we were in the EU anyway.

So, this suspected deal is therefore not only Brexit In Name Only (BRINO), it is also a bad deal, a very bad deal.

We should therefore automatically be following the Prime Minister's own words that no de..
