Jimi Hendrix
Experience, a.k.a See My Music Talking
1968 Film Documentary
Runtime: 27:50

The Experience film, made by Peter Neal, was mostly filmed during late November and December 1967. The film, however, was not released until 1968 which is why you hear "House Burning Down", a song from 1968's Electric Ladyland double LP on the soundtrack of this film.

It contains clips from a live show in Blackpool on November 25, 1967 and Bruce Fleming's Photo Studio where Jimi performed Hear My Train A Comin' on a 12 string acoustic. The Fleming footage on my channel is directly cut from this documentary and I posted it to the channel as a separate video to keep with the intended chronology. Blackpool from a different source is also on the channel as a separate video.

The Experience film can be considered the first documentary about Jimi, and the Experience as a whole. While not overly long, it does have great performance footage, Mitch and Noel interviewing Jimi, and some narration. The soundtrack works great too, loved the way Bold As Love is used with the rocket footage!

I think it is a nice ending to the video footage of Jimi Hendrix from 1967, but again it was released in 1968. So don't let the date in the title mislead you!

Well, I made it through the first year of the mission to archive all Jimi Hendrix video I possess! 3 more to go! Onward to 1968!

Jimi Hendrix
Promotional Video
Runtime: 3:15

This is a music video very recently created by noted Hendrix collector and creator Kurt Max. He had remastered the footage that was shot at the concert Jimi played at Olympia in Kensington on December 22, 1967, commonly known as the Xmas on Earth concert, and had added some extra footage recently discovered as well as the backstage footage of Jimi playing the Flying V and Noel in a top hat! The full 15+ minute version of the Xmas on Earth Concert remastered by Kurt Max is also on my channel.

For this "promo video", Kurt used Can You See Me from Stockholm 1967 as the audio since that song is not a tune of Jimi's used very often! I think it works perfectly!

The Kensington footage originally appeared in the 1968 film "Watch Out For Your Ears". The complete film had performances by other artists. I have only uploaded the Jimi footage from this film.

This is the final video containing Kensington footage on my channel. See the prior videos for the full footage from the Xmas on Earth show.

1. Can You See Me

Jimi Hendrix
Filmed at Olympia
Colour footage, synched audio
Runtime: 3:34

The Kensington footage originally appeared in the 1968 film "Watch Out For Your Ears". The complete film had performances by other artists. I have only uploaded the Jimi footage from this film.

This is the footage that was included in the Experience Hendrix Live in Monterey official release and is only a portion of two songs. The prior videos on my channel are much longer. This is just for archival purposes.

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
2. Wild Thing (Incomplete)

Jimi Hendrix
Filmed at Olympia
Colour footage, synched audio
Runtime: 13:44

The Kensington footage originally appeared in the 1968 film "Watch Out For Your Ears". The complete film had performances by other artists. I have only uploaded the Jimi footage from this film.

This is a very recent remastered version of this footage, also known as "Xmas On Earth Continued", by noted Hendrix collector and creator Kurt Max. Kurt enhanced the quality of the video and audio. Can You See Me audio is from Stockholm.

1. Backstage Jam (dubbed audio)
2. Can You See Me
3. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
4. Foxy Lady
5. Wild Thing

Jimi Hendrix
Filmed at Olympia
Colour footage, synched audio
Runtime: 15:13

The Kensington footage originally appeared in the 1968 film "Watch Out For Your Ears". The complete film had performances by other artists. I have only uploaded the Jimi footage from this film.

This is a very recent remastered version of this footage, also known as "Xmas On Earth Continued", by noted Hendrix collector and creator Kurt Max. Extra footage from the official LPs mini-documentaries that were included in re-releases by Experience Hendrix has been added, as well as the backstage footage of Jimi playing the Flying V and Noel in a top hat. Kurt also enhanced the quality of the video and audio. This version runs close to 2 minutes longer than what was in the original Wtach Out For Your Ears film due to the inclusion of the new footage Kurt added in. Can You See Me audio is from Stockholm, but Kurt thought it went well with the new footage and included it instead of leaving it silent. So this is now the definitive version of this footage.

The following 3 videos on my channel are also from the Olympia, but other than the music video for Can You See Me, the other two are lesser quality and not complete like this video! So watch this one, maybe Can You See Me, but other 2 are really for archival purposes.

1. Backstage Jam (dubbed audio)
2. Can You See Me
3. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
4. Foxy Lady
5. Wild Thing

Jimi Hendrix
Bruce Fleming's Photo Studio
Colour footage, synched audio
Runtime: 3:47

This particular video is sourced from the Experience film, as mentioned below.

The footage of Jimi Hendrix playing a 12 string acoustic guitar, as well as some interview footage from same date, originally appeared in Peter Neal's 1968 film titled "Experience", a.k.a. "See My Music Talking".

This is just the performance portion of 2 versions of Hear My Train A Comin'. There is backstage footage from Blackpool overlaid near the end of the video, but to keep the performance intact, I left that in. The complete Experience film will be uploaded to this channel soon.

1. Hear My Train A Comin' (false start)
2. Hear My Train A Comin'

Jimi Hendrix
Filmed at Opera House
Colour footage, synched audio
Runtime: 9:23

Due to dark setting, only 2 songs were filmed. Rumours that Foxy Lady was also filmed, but it is yet to be seen.

This particular video is not sourced from the Experience film, as mentioned below. I believe this is a remastered version done by Kurt Max, a great Hendrix collector and creator of better quality Jimi video, like his Royal Albert Hall concert work for example!

The Blackpool footage originally appeared in Peter Neal's 1968 film titled "Experience", a.k.a. "See My Music Talking". I will be uploading the complete Experience film as well.

Originally broadcast on November 12, 1967.

1. The Burning of the Midnight Lamp

Jimi Hendrix
Au Petit Dimanche Illustre
1967 French TV
Runtime: 8:27

Filmed in and around Boulevard du Montparnasse and Montparnasse Station in Paris, France. The demolition site was located at 348 rue Lecourbe, Paris.

2 songs, 1 mimed, 1 "music video" for French TV. Originally broadcast on October 15, 1967.

This was the first version available of this TV show. While poorer quality than the other B&W, or indeed the colour version, this version has the hosts of the show segments included and slate at beginning of the footage.

For years, collectors of Jimi called this the Montparnasse footage as the demolition footage with the band miming to The Wind Cries Mary was the site of the old Montparnasse Station. The street scenes with The Burning of the Midnight Lamp as the soundtrack were filmed at a market on Boulevard du Montparnasse.

This video and the prior upload of this footage are included for completeness, but watch the colour version instead!

2 songs, 1 mimed, 1 "music video" for French TV. Originally broadcast on October 15, 1967.

This *was* an upgrade to the poorer quality B&W footage that first came in to the Jimi Hendrix collector circles. However, with the recent unearthing of the stunning colour version of this TV clip, the B&W no matter the quality pales in comparison! See the previous version on my channel for the great colour version.

And, again for years, only the B&W version of this footage was available. It was just in the last couple of years that this brilliant colour footage came onto the scene. I watched these clips in B&W for over 30 years, so to see this clip in colour after so long was amazing!

The following two uploads of this footage are not as good quality wise, however for completeness, I have uploaded both.

1. The Burning of the Midnight Lamp
2. The Wind Cries Mary

Jimi Hendrix
Dim Dam Dom Show
1967 French TV
Runtime: 6:04

Filmed at ORTF Studios. 2 songs mimed for French TV. Originally broadcast on November 12, 1967.

This is the first version that was in collector's hands prior to the Melody channel rebroadcast and the significant upgraded and remastered version recently done by Hendrix collector Kurt Max. This footage includes a timecode.

Version 1 on my channel has the best quality footage of this TV appearance.

1. Hey Joe

Runtime: 8:23

Filmed at ORTF Studios. 2 songs mimed for French TV. Originally broadcast on November 12, 1967.

This is a rebroadcast that appeared on the Melody channel. It includes a brief saxophone intro to each song. I also included the original Dim Dam Dom opening credits at the end of the clip, that is why it is longer than the other 2 versions on my channel.

The previous video on my channel (Version 1) has the best quality footage of this TV appearance.

2. The Burning of the Midnight Lamp

Jimi Hendrix
Filmed at L'Olympia
Colour footage, synched audio
Runtime: 4:42

The full show minus one song is available in audio, supposedly the whole concert was filmed but this footage is all that is currently available.

This clip originally appeared in the official releases of "Popcorn" and "Superstars in Concert".

1. Wild Thing (incomplete)

Jimi Hendrix
Filmed at Stora Scenen
Colour footage, synched audio
Runtime: 2:03

I posted this footage in my previous video, however this one is synched to the actual audio recorded at this show.

In the Hendrix collector and follower circles someone who goes by JamminJimi did a lot of resynching of video snippets to the actual audio that was recorded. It must have been painstaking work, but hats fucking off to him!!! All credit goes to him for this version, and others I will post as time goes on. It really enhances what would otherwise be silent or overdubbed footage of Jimi.

Footage is synched to audio recorded that night. The full show is available in audio, but this is all the vid that exists from that night.

1. Foxy Lady
2. Burning of the Midnight Lamp
3. Fire
4. Experiencing the Blues
5. Hey Joe
6. Purple Haze

More footage from this venue in Sweden is on my channel, May 24, 1967 and September 4, 1967. And at some point in the hopefully not too distant future, the final footage shot at Stora Scenen, 3 weeks before Jimi died, will be too!

Jimi Hendrix
Filmed at Rudolph Valentino's Mansion
Colour footage, no audio
Runtime: 1:23

Raw footage shot at Rudolph Valentino's mansion in Los Angeles, California. When Jimi was filmed there, the location was known as the Sans Souci Temple as the mansion had been bought by a spiritualist group. This footage was used in the official release of the documentary Voodoo Child from the West Coast Seattle Boy boxset.

After snipping all the segments, I then compiled them in the order that the footage appeared in the original release.

See the previous videos on my channel for further details and notes about the Valentino footage. This footage is the best quality by far!

This channel will contain nothing but Jimi Hendrix videos, whether live, studio, promo videos, interviews, documentaries etc. I am uploading everything I have collected over last 35 years, hopefully in a structured chronological fashion. It might take awhile but I intend to upload as regularly as possible, with most activity being Friday to Sunday of course!

And if anyone notices I missed something in the chronology, please do let me know so I can add anything I may have missed. I have probably 60 DVDs and another 50GBs of Jimi stuff so it is a bit laborious to try and do it in sequence, but giving it a shot!

Hope you enjoy the sights and sounds of Jimi Hendrix! He was always dressed great too! LOL
