It helpful to draw a clear distinction between the British people (our friends and allies) and the British Establishment, with the latter being under effective control of the oligarchic institutions centred around the autonomous City of London ever since the Royalists lost the English Civil War of 1651 to the City of London-backed Parliamentarians.

This was followed by King William III consigning his subjects to debt slavery in 1694 via a national tax imposed upon them in order to secure war funding from City of London affiliated lending institutions who also received from the King a charter for a private central bank which soon became known as the Bank of England. The BoE is located on Threadneedle Street within the confines of the City of London and thus is beyond effective control of the British Parliament.

The establishment of the Bank of England kick-started interest-bearing funding for the Royal Navy which in turn led to the rapid expansion of the the British Empire and the launch of the Industrial Revolution based upon a model of 'free trade' propelled by a policy of endless war and conquest.

The Bank of England has also served as a template for all subsequent private central banks, most notably the privately controlled U.S. Federal Reserve System. Thus, in effect, since 1913 America's military has increasingly functioned as an enforcement arm of Anglo-American Establishment foreign policy.
