When you go out in the woods tonight...don't run into this guy.

There's something darkly calming and even thrilling about songs eulogising the end of the world. And where better a place to find them than in an album called "Songs For The End Of The World", composed by literal Satanists during the Satanic Panic of yore? Their music carries with it a calm, reassured knowing of imminent destruction for a world that frankly deserves it.

I never expected a black metal documentary to end on such a calm and stoic note. It's like reality itself stopped and waited in order to make a point that words couldn't.

My favorite Christmas poem from a defunct Youtube channel by someone named Urgelt. The soundscapes & low fidelity create the mood I'm always searching for in my Internet travels; calm underlying stillness like the frozen ground in the depths of the woods in the dead of winter's eve.

The feralness of the Earth is never far off from any one of us. Just step off that train and walk through those woods in the twilight. The next Son of Sam might be living out there for all you know.

One day civilisation will fall and the trains will stop. The ruins of a dead world will be consumed under moss and brambles and be the dwelling place for all the wicked little terrors that dance in these dark trees.
