To Purpose From Belonging:
From dark abyss of time eternal
He finds himself at now.
The question of his being here,
Begs why as much as how.
Man embroiled in quest for meaning,
Consumed father, son, and all between.
Haunted by beyond survival,
As ghost emerged from mere machine.
Yet against prevailing entropy,
He boldly stands alone.
Sheer defiance in itself a purpose,
To make this rock his home.
So guided by the thread of past,
He has risen through the ages.
To purpose from belonging,
Writ his-story down on pages.
Collected all the things once cherished,
Passed down by those above.
Named that great gift his culture,
The residue of love.
Far more than just material things,
It made his purpose clearer.
Bright reflection of identity,
With culture as his mirror.
They say the mirror’s old and cracked,
And as such must be broken.
Yet he longs to see true self again,
Inner father reawoken.
Mere thought of losing such reflection,
Could almost make him cry.
And then at once he knew the answer,
To the question; who am I?
Belongings new custodian,
A good sons duty he embraces.
“Protect our gift and pass it on,
Oh Hero with a thousand faces.”
Found purpose in survival,
Sense of belonging to defend.
His chapters just beginning;
And by his will
He writeth still
To halt this books untimely end.
