In this episode, I welcome any new listeners and go back to basics by teaching everyone how to read a SCOTUS opinion. For demonstration purposes, I use Castle Rock v. Gonzales (2005), a case that I've worked with in several episodes of the podcast.

In episode V, we close out our summer special on Netflix's "Wild, Wild Country."

In this finale, Daniel, Robert, and I had the pleasure of welcoming Sherry Voluntary to the show to discuss her own experience in a non-traditional religious organization. Sherry relates her 27 year experience with her own group to the Sannyasins' experience following Osho. She also relates her emotions in leaving her group to that of the Sannyasins in leaving Rajneeshpuram.  We were very excited to have Sherry on the show!

Sherry Voluntary is a former co-host of "Speaking Freely," a regular weekday program which aired on Knoxville Talk 92.3 FM. She now continues her work through hosting two excellent podcasts: "The Sherry Voluntary Show" and "Postcards from Somalia."

I explain, then compare and contrast, the orthodox consideration-based contract theory with the libertarian title-based theory.

Wild Wild, Country is a hit Netflix docuseries which tells the story of Indian guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, a man whose followers attempted to create a commune in the high deserts of Oregon. In doing so, they came at odds with the local townspeople . . . and eventually the US Government.

If you haven't yet seen the 6-part Netflix documentary "Wild, Wild Country" about an Indian guru who sets out for America to start a city of 50,000 followers in the high desert of Oregon - go check it out!

A sleepy town of retirees is less than 20 miles away, and they don't take too kindly to the new neighbors.

There are so many juicy discussion points to savor from a libertarian perspective as both sides implement government as their weapon of choice against each other, with spectacular backfiring results.

Liberty Weekly will be discussing the documentary with the boys from Actual Anarchy in a mini-series of 6 Liberty Weekly episodes going through each of the documentary parts.

The first part will be Liberty Weekly Episode 83 where we go over Chapter 1 of "Wild, Wild Country" - look for it on Sunday, Noon Central at www.libertyweekly.net/83 or at the landing page for the series www.libertyweekly.net/wcc

Chapters 2-6 will follow each Sunday at noon CT until our demands are met.

The State of the Libertarian Talk Show for the month of June 2018.

A couple of the members of the LU Crew joined forces Voltron-style to bang out a State of the Libertarian Talk Show for the month of June.

Join Pat MacFarlane of the Liberty Weekly Podcast as he hosts Kyle Anzalone of Foreign Policy Focus, Mike Tilden of the Battle for Liberty and Daniel Elwood of the Actual Anarchy and Last Nighters Podcast.

We talk about SCOTUS, evidentiary rules, plea deals, and then shift over to talking about our shows, how to achieve a show/life balance, optimization ideas and how to deal with trolls.

It's a laid-back Sunday evening chat that you're sure to enjoy.

Look for another one by the end of July, if not sooner.

And if you don't see it by then....just wait longer.

The Supreme Court handed down a very dissatisfying ruling in the Masterpiece case on Monday, holding in a 7-2 opinion that: "[t]he Colorado Civil Rights Commission’s actions in assessing a cakeshop owner’s reasons for declining to make a cake for a same-sex couple’s wedding celebration violated the free exercise clause." This ruling, which was narrow in scope, failed to decide the fundamental issue in the case, which had more to do with compelled speech than free exercise. Of course, us libertarians understand that the real fundamental issue here is property rights, and neither compelled speech nor free exercise.
