Forged carbon fiber fabric is easy to work with and has a distinctive bold pattern not possible with other methods. It can be pieced together as needed for complex shapes and the seam lines will disappear into the random marbled pattern.

4:13 Knife is coated with CA glue to fill small voids and create a glossier finish. Once dry, this is smoothed with sandpaper and plastic polish and the blade is sharpened.

Project Notes
1:39 Dry forged carbon sheet is placed face down in a resin coated mold and additional resin added from the back to saturate. Attempting to add resin to the front of the sheet would break down the binder and cause the carbon pieces to dislodge/deform.
4:05 First casting was challenging to remove due to some slight undercuts in the mold and the very thin single layer part. It also had some gaps and thin spots which were filled and reinforced by adding small patches of additional carbon fiber to the back as shown at 5:40. The mold was revised for the second casting and a backing layer of twill weave carbon fiber added over the forged sheet, making the second part easy to remove and gap free.
5:48 This quick prototype mold was modeled in Fusion 360, 3D printed and minimally post-processed. Better designed and finished tooling would produce higher quality results straight from the mold.

Making a minimalist wallet from flexible sheets of real forged carbon fiber. The piece are cut using a template and sewn together with a lambskin leather lining using a combination of hand and machine stitching. The finished card holder features the stunning holographic effect of forged carbon fiber in a strong and flexible form. This is my first attempt at making a wallet.

Improving the best ergonomic computer mouse input devices using 3d printing. These are all devices I purchased, not sponsored or sent for free. My current setup includes a Kinesis DXT vertical mouse, Kensington SlimBlade trackball, a SpaceMouse with a Rii mini keyboard for easy access to shortcuts and a Huion HS64 graphic tablet. Creating a dagger design based on the description in the Wheel of Time fantasy novel series. First I'll show you the painting and assembly and then take a look at the design iteration and post-processing to prepare the prop for paint. The dagger features a crossbar with golden serpents baring their fangs, a fine gold wrapped texture on the hilt and a polished red and blue star ruby stone capping the hilt.
