Hunt: Showdown is a fantastic competitive PvE and PvP team based shooter set in the deep south during the late 1800s. You play as a hunter sent into dangerous territories to kill unspeakable Lovecraftian monsters and anyone else who gets in your way. This game utilizes a deep tool set, a highly interactive gameworld, and systems driven mechanics and gameplay to deliver an intense PvP experience that will see players utilizing stealth, skill and tracking to hunt their prey. This game elevates sound design beyond even landmark titles like Thief the Dark Project to deliver an immersive, engrossing, difficult, yet rewarding, experience. Check out this great game Taffers, and maybe I'll see you in the dark hot bayou of Hunt: Showdown.

An unexpected encore to my series of videos that discusses in brief each game designed with the immersive sim design philosophy in mind. This list is compiled from my personal opinion on what games qualify as immersive sims but is heavily influenced by a list curated by giant bomb where they group immersive sims. I give my brief overview and opinion of each game and discuss the significance of each. You can find the list here, though it will not be a 1:1 of my inclusions. Enjoy and let me know in the comments your thoughts, opinions, or anything I may have missed.

Ubisoft has finally released gameplay footage of Far Cry 6! Let's take a look

Careful not to drown in the ankle deep depth that this game offers! With 85 hours playtime in, all side missions done, 4/5 endings experienced, and 85% of the achievements I feel compelled to weigh in here. Whether its cyber-augmentations whose effects go largely un-noticed after installed (either due to bugs or bad design); its dizzying large and detailed city scape where every....last....damn....building cannot be entered, let alone explored. A hyper linear story where you are forced to watch pseudo-cutscenes of beautifully rendered characters talk at you while you wait for the gameplay to start, or a lack of anything at all to do in the world outside of side missions; this game was beyond disappointing. While not a bad game overall, it merely acts as an interesting distraction and is just another Ubisoft open world meets GTA when it could've been one of the most compelling games of all time. CD Projekt, next time cut the acting budget by 90% and focus on making an actual game world.

After a cataclysmic event known only as the death stranding, America and the rest of the world are brought to their knees. With the last survivors holed up in underground cities, unable to brave the dangerous surface and running out of resources, the only way to survive is to depend on the brave few who can venture into the hazards of the half-dead world to delivery vital supplies between each subterranean metropolis.

You play as Sam, a porter who keeps the slow wheel of this silent world turning, the man who delivers. You are tasked with braving the dangerous and unknown to deliver supplies to these cities, but more importantly to reconnect them to the central information network of the remnant US government. In so doing, Sam will be reconnecting this fragmented America and allow them the chance to rebuild. Along the way hell face long perilous treks through unforgiving terrain on his own two feet. Hell face terrorists and raiders on the surface, driven mad by the realities of this new world. Worst of all he'll face the perilous BTs, apparitions of beings from the land of the dead, who, if on contact with the human bodies of our domain, will trigger the destructive voidouts, high energy explosions, that have all but destroyed the planet since the death stranding.

Here's my review and in depth discussion of death stranding, a game and experience I thoroughly enjoyed. Allow me to show you why I enjoyed it so much and decide for yourselves if its a journey you would like to take as well.

You play as Jillian Clearly (JC) a covert government operative who specializes in stealth and espionage. While on assignment you uncover evidence that the agency you work for is part of a vast global government conspiracy, after which you are framed for treason and thrown in prison. With the help of an underground resistance you must embark on a globe spanning adventure to clear your name and uncover the secrets of this conspiracy.

Neon Struct is an indie stealth game that transplants the gameplay of Thief I and II into a Dues Ex inspired cyberpunk dystopia. Using the light gem on screen and being wary of noisy surfaces you'll have to use darkness and clever pathing to sneak undetected to complete your objectives. Much like Thief you are given a plethora of tools like anti-light grenades, scrambler grenades, teleporters, silence stims, hacking stims and more to help you hack, lockpick, sneak and knockout any threats or opposition you may face. The game features open-ended level design and facilitates player choice and ingenuity. Check out my review for this indie immersive sim, and support Minor Key Games by picking up a copy.

Zaya the daughter of a merchant family from an exotic country east of "The City", embarks on her first voyage to deliver imports to her brother who runs the family warehouse there. However, not long after Zaya meets Kaddar at the docks, they are mugged and Kaddar is killed. Zaya, fleeing for her life seeks shelter in a haunted house nearby and meets an old pagan priest who offers her shelter. One year later, Zaya has completed her training at the hands of her pagan benefactor and proceeds to use her new skills as a thief to find and take revenge on her brothers killers.

Thief 2X: Shadows of the Metal Age, is a complete expansion of Thief II, using the same engine with massive upgrades to model and texture quality. It is essentially a full length game with 13 huge and highly varied mission. The game was put together by the Dark Engineering Guild and is a completely free mod for Thief II. The NPCs are fully voice acted and the game has tons of custom made sounds, music and models. However, if you were not told this was a fan-made mod, you could be forgiven for thinking it was legitimate looking glass studios expansion for Thief II. The games levels are full of depth, completely open ended and provide hours of exploration, experimentation and world-building fun. The fans who constructed this masterpiece truly understood what made Thief great, and added their own spin to it.

To the creators of this mod, you guys are great, Thank You!

Update 4 for Underworld Ascendant has finally launched as of last week, and I got a chance to playthrough the game with the new tweaks, fixes and additional content. I was also able to grab footage of the game this time around thanks to the Geforce Now beta.

Checkout my full playthrough of Underworld Ascendant Update 4 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Pjk62zzfo4&list=PLa-ey6JTTDywRvxyMcWPKeL7NNer1sABp

The past two updates did little to fix many of the games more glaring problems, so well explore the most recent rendition of UA to see if the work Otherside has put into the game since launch has paid off.

I hope you find this review helpful and be sure to check out my full walkthrough of Underworld Ascendant Update 4 on this channel if you're curious to see more about the game.

Described by its developers as "Thief with guns", Gloomwood is set in a steampunk-fantasy, Victorian city reminiscent of the "City" from the first three thief games. While monsters ravage the sewers and streets of Gloomwood, you must sneak past patrols of monster hunters who patrol the streets and find a way to escape. Using the stealth mechanics of light and shadow, movement speed and being careful to avoid noisy surfaces you must use stealth to move unseen past the hunters and horrors of this dark city. Alternatively, you can use your revolver, shotgun or can sword to fight your way out of a sticky situation. From the people who brought us Dusk, Amid Evil and Maximum Damage comes a love letter to looking glass similar to indie titles as Neon Struct. Come enjoy this Let's Play of the Gloomwood demo.

In this video I discuss the concept and philosophy of objectivism, how it is represented and pertains to the game Bioshock, and some of the common misconceptions surrounding the philosophy.

Bioshock was a extremely influential game, not just gaming and media as a whole, but on me as well. Bioshock was my first introduction to the concepts of objectivism and led to read much of Ayn Rands work. In this video I discuss the impact that the game and the writing of Rand had on me as well as lay out many of the issues associated with interpretations of her work and her philisophy.

If you have anything to add or discuss, please do so in the comments as I would love to have this start some though provoking discussion on the objectivist philosophy and its place in the world.
