It was a get away day. A time to get out of the house and see Long Beach again. We went to the Pike but all the restaurants along the water front were closed and then Tammy spotted a crowd of Kite Surfers going nuts. It was then I let Tammy take the camera to do her first vlog. Come watch and tell me how good did she do?

On our whole trip up the central California coast we scanned the bays, lagoons, and waterways searching for sea otters. On the last day we rented an electric boat and set out into Morro Bay to get up close with the sea life.

We had not been down this road since 1982 and suddenly in 2020 I pass by a city roadside saying HARMONY pop 18 and I quickly took the turn off not knowing what was ahead. So we drove into Harmony to harmonize. Come join us to see this artistic little town and gain harmony with the elements of clay and glass. There is Ice Cream too!

Harmony is an unincorporated community located in San Luis Obispo County, California. It is home to the former Harmony Valley Creamery, a dairy cooperative that closed in 1955.

Founded in 1869 around a burgeoning local dairy industry, Harmony served as the home of the Harmony Valley Creamery Association and de facto capital of Central Coast dairy production for nearly half a century, while also serving as a picturesque pit-stop for the rich-and-famous on their way to visit William Randolph Hearst just up the road.

Following the ultimate closure of the creamery, Harmony’s population steadily waned as the community saw much of the state’s dairy production transition from the Central Coast to the Central Valley. While undergoing periods of relative dormancy. Today our 2.5-acre, one-block town ‘bustles’ once again.

Home to the Harmony Valley Creamery and its famous Scoop Truck, Harmony Glass Works and Harmony Pottery Shop artisan galleries and the Harmony Chapel & Gardens, Harmony has become a quirky and quaint must-stop destination for both local residents and tourists alike.

Harmony Pottery Studio & Gallery
Showcasing the work of over 150 artists, the Harmony Pottery Studio and Gallery has been home to the Central Coast’s most unique collection of ceramic art and porcelain jewelry since 1973.

Harmony Glassworks
Offering a one-of-a-kind experience in contemporary glass art, the Harmony Glassworks, founded by glassblower Eric Dandurand brings together an extensive gallery, working studio and school in a decidedly unique combination.

Harmony Valley Creamery
Drawing upon the town of Harmony’s colorful history, Harmony Valley Creamery picks up where the Harmony Valley Creamery Association left off 50 years ago, producing hand crafted small batch ice cream. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the Harmony Valley Creamery Scoop Truck in town or as it travels to events throughout the county.

This is one of the most serene, tranquil, wonderful spot on the Central California Coastline. Join Lou and Tammy to experience Morro Rock a volcanic plug and a great look at Cayucos Bay.

Morro Rock is an idyllic backdrop for Morro Bay, it is the last of the (Nine Sisters) extinct volcanic peaks along Highway 1 from San Luis Obispo.

The 581-foot (177 m) Morro Rock is one of 13 volcanic plugs (remnant necks of extinct volcanoes), lava domes, and sheetlike intrusions between Morro Bay on the north and Islay Hill on the south, all in San Luis Obispo County.

It is composed mostly of dacite, an igneous, volcanic rock, and partially of petrified bird feces, which have compacted into the plug over the years. It is a groundmass of plagioclase, with amphibole (hornblende), biotite, pyroxene (augite), quartz, and glass; phenocrysts of plagioclase, amphibole and often quartz. Its silica (SiO2) content can range from 63 to 69 percent.

One of my favorite places in the USA. Ostrichland in Buellton is a wild Central Coast landmark, and my favorite stop when traveling North.

They have 100+ ostriches and emus and you feed them for an upclose encounter with the largest land bird in the world. They are also the fastest running at speeds of 45 mph.

You can think of OstrichLand like a zoo. The Ostriches and Emus are here for your enjoyment. Visitors are invited to feed the animals, or just stand back and enjoy the interactions and antics of these unbelievably large birds.

Feeding Ostriches at OstrichLand
You’ll find our Ostriches and Emus have been raised to be fed by the visitors and are trained to eat out of a bowl. We even have two female Ostriches who were hand-raised in the store (until they grew too big, of course!)

They now have babies!
They have been hatching birds and will possibly have babies for public viewing. The babies are not for sale. They are fun to see. The best time for viewing ostrich chicks is during the summer months. They grow quickly and will be juveniles by the time winter arrives. Emu chicks typically hatch in late-winter and early-spring.

Next time you’re traveling through California, be sure to allow time for a stop at OstrichLand USA. It is a most friendly place and dogs are allowed.

Everyone loves a mystery, a quiz, a tickling of the brain cells. I continually love to challenge people and in this video I challenge my wife to figure out what people do in an alley in San Luis Obispo and right off the bat she found the right concept but could not figure out the mystery item. Can you?

About San Luis Obispo.
Halfway between San Francisco and L.A., San Luis Obispo can be a relaxing getaway or a buzz of activity. For serenity, pack a lunch and head to one of dozens of wineries or take a drive to the beach for a leisurely swim. For a dose of history, visit the heart of the city at the beautiful Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. Kids will love the Children’s Museum or Skate Park. Be sure to stroll along the creek downtown, where there are breweries, wine bars, restaurants and shopping for all tastes.

It's Southern California's School marm with a new lesson for all Southern Californians. Knott's Berry Farm is an excellent display of old west history, some real and some pretend. But everything there is fun and educational. Come see Ghost Town with Lou and Roadside Rick.

Knott's Berry Farm is a 57-acre theme park located in Buena Park, California, owned and operated by Cedar Fair. In 2018, it was the twelfth-most-visited theme park in North America and averages approximately 4 million visitors per year. The park features 40 rides including roller coasters, family rides, dark rides and water rides. America's 1st Theme Park, California's Best Theme Park, The Friendliest Place in the West

The Knott's Berry Farm amusement park in Orange County, California, originated from a berry farm owned by Walter Knott (1889–1981). In the 1920s, Knott and his wife, Cordelia, sold berries, berry preserves and pies from a roadside stand beside State Route 39, near the small town of Buena Park.

In 1932, on a visit to Rudolph Boysen's farm in nearby Anaheim, Walter Knott was introduced to a new hybrid berry of a blackberry, a red raspberry, and a loganberry cross-bred by Boysen, who gave Walter his last six wilted berry-hybrid plants. Walter planted and cultivated them, then the family sold the berries at their roadside stand. When people asked what kind they were, he called them "boysenberries".

In 1934, to make ends meet, Knott's wife Cordelia (1890–1974) reluctantly began serving fried chicken dinners on their wedding china. For dessert, Knott's signature Boysenberry Pie was also served to guests dining in the small tea room.

As Southern California developed, Highway 39 became the major north-south connection between Los Angeles County and the beaches of Orange County, and the restaurant's location was a popular stopping point for drivers making the two-hour trip in those days before freeways. Until Interstate 605 and State Route 57 were built in the late 1960s, Highway 39 ..

It's just a train most will say, but this train was bought by Walter Knott and moved to Buena Park for the preservation of history and making a way for the public to experience a real working steam train. No electric motors here, this is the real thing. Ride the rail with us for a relaxed wonderful ride.

The Calico Railroad has been in operation at Knott’s since January 12, 1952 and is an authentic Denver and Rio Grande Narrow Gauge train used in the early 1900s. It boasts the highest crime rate in all of Orange County, as notorious Ghost Town bandits still hold-up every departure from the Calico Square depot.

Knott’s Berry Farm is the home of two authentic turn-of-the-century locomotives and the Galloping Goose, a gasoline-powered motor car capable of using the railroad tracks. You ride in a bit of history while taking a 5/8-mile journey around the park.

The park sits on the site of a former berry farm established by Walter Knott and his family. Beginning in the mid 1920s, the Knott family sold berries, berry preserves, and pies from a roadside stand along State Route 39. In 1934, the Knotts began selling fried chicken dinners in a tea room on the property, later called "Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant." The dinners soon became a major tourist draw, and the Knotts built several shops and other attractions to entertain visitors while waiting for a seat in the restaurant. In 1940, Walter Knott began constructing a replica Ghost Town on the property, the beginning of the present-day theme park. The idea of an amusement park really picked up in the 1950s when Walter Knott opened a "summer-long county fair."

Join Mr. & Mrs. Louinator59 for dinner at the newly re-opened Knott's Berry Farm Marketplace. Are you hungry yet? You will be by the end of this video. Have food near you when watching or hop in the car and go. This, as usual, was an excellent chicken dinner from the restaurant that sells more chicken than any other in the world.

Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant first opened in 1934 with Mrs. Knott and her children serving the first customers in their tea room. The restaurant has grown over the years into one of the largest in California, but the classic fried chicken dinner is still made the same way today using Mrs. Knott's recipes.

In this video we ride the Knott's Berry Farm Historic Attraction The Timber Mountain Log Ride. You get to ride POV through the water troughs through the mountain and saw mill.

Due to COVID-19 Knott's Berry Farm Amusement Park is closed and the park is silent. Knott's Market Place is open daily and the Chicken Dinner Restaurant has outdoor seating!

The Timber Mountain Log Ride is a themed log flume water dark ride at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, United States. The ride is themed after the Knott's Calico Ghost Town. The ride is one of the oldest log flumes in the United States and is the most popular ride at Knott's Berry Farm

Timber Mountain Log Ride opened on July 11, 1969 with John Wayne on its inaugural ride. At the age of ten, I rode the mountain the year it opened 1969. It was the most revolutionary ride I had been on and it still pleases me every time I ride it.

On July 11, 2019, Knott's Berry Farm celebrated the 50th anniversary of the park's most popular ride: the Timber Mountain Log Ride. As part of the 50th anniversary, Knott's added 2 new audio anamontronics designed by Garner Holt. All 36 logs were retrofitted with individual seats (similar to Splash Mountain) as opposed to the lap sitting seat design. Most of the logs feature 3 or 4 individual seats. Another major improvement made to the ride was the addition of a soundtrack. An exclusive soundtrack was developed for the ride by Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies. The ride now features a soundtrack exclusively about the log ride, giving an much improved ride experience.

In this video we ride the Knott's Berry Farm Pony Express and bring a to you a bit of history of the Pony Express so strap in and get ready to ride.

Due to COVID-19 Knott's Berry Farm is closed and the park is silent. So take a ride on the Pony Express as we wait for it to reopen. Knott's Market Place is open daily and the Chicken Dinner Restaurant has outdoor seating!

Operated by Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company, the Pony Express was a great financial investment to the U.S. During its 18 months of operation, it reduced the time for messages to travel between the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to about 10 days.

Many people used the Pony Express as a communication link. It also encouraged catalogs to be created, allowing people to buy goods and have them brought by horse to the customers. It became the West's most direct means of east-west communication before the transcontinental telegraph was established (October 24, 1861), and was vital for tying the new U.S. state of California with the rest of the United States.

Despite a heavy subsidy, the Pony Express was not a financial success and went bankrupt in eighteen months, when faster telegraph service was established. Nevertheless, it demonstrated that a unified transcontinental system of communications could be established and operated year-round.

When replaced by the telegraph, the Pony Express quickly became romanticized and became part of the lore of the American West. Its reliance on the ability and endurance of individual young, hardy riders and fast horses was seen as evidence of rugged American individualism of the Frontier times.

The horses at Knott's Berry Farm are 45 ex-race horses saved from being put down. Their living and working conditions are of excellence and parent company Cedar Fair brings home town goodness to the big city. Ride the Butterfield Stage with us as we meet some of the horses.

For over 100 years Knott's Berry Farm has greeted guests with homemade goodness, wellness, and roots deep into America's past. Yet bringing all this to the public everyday takes great work and good animal husbandry. These people are doing it right.

The Butterfield stage coaches are real working stage coaches which delivered mail from Saint Louis to Memphis Tennessee and even to San Francisco. So buckle up let's go!

The story of Walter Knott is amazing. Today we only focus on his wonderfully tasty Boysenberry. We will see berry s on the vine and talk about the berry farm, and eat some of the tasty Boysenberry delicacies. So join us down on the farm.

In the 1920s, Knott was a somewhat unsuccessful farmer whose fortunes changed when he nursed several abandoned berry plants back to health. The hybrid boysenberry, named after its creator, Rudolph Boysen, was a cross between a blackberry, red raspberry and loganberry. The huge berries were a hit, and the Knott family sold berries, preserves and pies from a Buena Park, California roadside stand. In 1934, Knott's wife Cordelia (née Hornaday, January 23, 1890 – April 12, 1974) began serving fried chicken dinners, and within a few years, lines outside the restaurant were often several hours long.[2]

To entertain the waiting crowds, Walter built a Ghost Town in 1940, using buildings relocated from Old West towns. In 1940 Walter sent his son Russel to Twentynine Palms, California. Russel was helped by a local resident Daniel F. Leahy who took Russel to the Old Calico Ghost Town in the hills just northeast of Twentynine Palms. "Very soon after this visit Walter purchased a number of Calico's buildings. There were carefully disassembled, trucked, and reassembled in Buena Park."

This is a celebration of the accomplishments of Enzo Ferrari and car rally for Ferrari enthusiasts in California held at the Petersen Auto Museum in Los Angeles California. I was so excited to attend this event and man was it a good one.

Enzo Ferrari was an Italian motor racing driver and entrepreneur, the founder of the Scuderia Ferrari Grand Prix motor racing team, and subsequently of the Ferrari automobile marque. He was widely known as "il Commendatore" or "il Drake". In his final years he was often referred to as "l'Ingegnere" (the Engineer) or "il Grande Vecchio (the Great Old Man)".

The Enzo Ferrari is a 12 cylinder mid-engine sports car named after the company's founder, Enzo Ferrari. It was developed in 2002 using Formula One technology, such as a carbon-fibre body, F1-style electrohydraulic shift transmission, and carbon fibre-reinforced silicon carbide ceramic composite disc brakes.

Los Angeles’ Petersen Automotive Museum hosted the “Bruce Meyer’s All-American Cruise-in” with special programming celebrating Carroll Shelby.

Carroll Hall Shelby was an American automotive designer, racing driver, entrepreneur, and author. Shelby is best known for his involvement with the AC Cobra and Mustang for Ford Motor Company, which he modified during the late 1960s and early 2000s.

American automotive museums have come and gone, but until publishing magnate and philanthropist Robert E. Petersen and his wife Margie opened the Petersen Automotive Museum, there was no central location in which to celebrate the entirety of automotive history, industry, culture and artistry in Los Angeles, the most car-centric city the world has yet known.

What do you do or where do you go to get that Christmas Spirit that makes Christmas special for others? We went on the search up the mountain and far away to find capture the Christmas Spirit.

In this video we zoom up into the San Bernardino Mountains to the towns of Big Bear Lake and Lake Arrowhead. It recently snowed 4' just a week prior, but a warm rain came in to wash a lot away. That's the way it is in Southern California. Yet, we are thankful and know we have to activate when we have a chance and activate we did.

Go with us to stay on the shores of Big Bear Lake and see what our wonderful local mountains are all about.

The last time I traveled to Bishop California I was 13 years old and Tammy has never been there. This was a terrific trip and yet a storm was bearing down on us. This was the day before the bombogenesis of November 2019. In this video we visit Eric Shat's Bakery in Bishop California and also the Mount Whitney Fish Hatchery. Lastly we vista the Mount Whitney Portal only to be denied.
Don't miss the next episode in this series.

This is the second of three videos.

Go with Louiantor59 on a trip into the Sierra Nevada mountains. To us, this was the most epic trip of the year. We got to drive into the edge of the November Bombogenesis which swept the complete western edge of California and messing up traffic for Thanksgiving week.

Bombogenesis a popular term used by meteorologists, occurs when a midlatitude cyclone rapidly intensifies, dropping at least 24 millibars over 24 hours. We went to experience it in the Searles Valley and the Trona Pinnacles.

Yes – POKEMON at the Safari Park. It was great and the first time I have got to watch someone play it all day. I believe Nick got 6 shinnies Tiff got 5 and we all got to go to a paradise where people have spent lots of money to educate the public. What a joy this day was.
The San Diego Zoo Safari Park immerses you in an active, hands-on safari experience where herds of animals roam natural habitats in a vast reserve.

Choose from a variety of exciting safari expeditions by caravan truck, cart, zip line - there's even an overnight option.

Everywhere you look, there are amazing views of lions lounging in the grasslands, antelope and giraffes mingling, rhinos wallowing in waterholes, storks and cranes on the march, and more.

Engage in close encounters with animal ambassadors, explore walking trails that lead to beautiful vistas and endangered species like the Sumatran tiger, and discover the adventure of conservation in action at this leading-edge wildlife park.

I hope you enjoy going with us. I know we had fun. BTW. Tiff says visit out merchandise shop and buy a shirt to support the channel.

Our trip to Pennsylvania was a very productive trip regarding the many videos we were able to share. Yet there was this one piece missing, some of my favorite moments. So, I made a compilation, leaving out the many stops in between and captured memories that I want to watch.
In sharing our lives in videos, we see value. I personally see it as having personal value as well. I will watch these videos throughout the rest of my life. It is great to be able to share them with you.

Peace. - Louinator59

Feeding time at the zoo is an awesome experience. First you have to have an awesome zoo and Claws N Paws is one of the most well rounded zoo experience I have had to date.

It's not often you find such a wonderful place where the animals are attentive, playful, and up close. By far this zoo in Pennsylvania is by far the best experience I have had. This is one of this places you return to often and I can't wait to go back.

We got to fee Jethro the giraffe !
