• Certain plant lectins are highly inflammatory and interfere with nutrient absorption across your intestinal wall. Evidence suggests avoiding these lectins could help boost longevity by protecting gut health

• Many of those 95 or older who are still in excellent health have an IGF-1 level between 70 and 80. Restricting animal protein has been shown to consistently lower IGF-1 levels to a significant degree

• IGF-1 activates the mTOR pathway, which inhibits autophagy, the breakdown and repair of damaged subcellular parts. Keeping IGF-1 low will allow you to properly cycle through autophagy activation

• Metabolic inflexibility also inhibits autophagy, which is a necessary process for optimal health and longevity. A ketogenic diet and cyclical fasting are both effective ways to regain the metabolic flexibility to burn both sugar and fat for fuel
