History was written with ink and blood. But ink is nothing if the words do not exist, and words are meaningless without the ideas behind their meaning, and meaning is applied to all things that we, as people, deem important. We do not care for the things we consider to be unimportant; they are easily forgotten. The brain forgets, but the heart does not. Confusion, anger, hurt, and sadness those are in the mind; Trauma is not. If it was, it could not be intergenerational. Trauma is held in the heart, but that is not the heart's purpose. The heart's purpose is blood. The bloodshed in the past is the source of pain that is being felt in the present. Therefore, the only source of healing in the present is also blood, but blood is of no use when it's shed. In fact, blood is of no use at all without the heart. The heart is nothing if it does not beat, and a beating heart is only strong when it beats steady; Like drum. I ask everyone who has made it this far, what is the purpose of a rhythm?

People are not social statistics to be disaggregated for ethnographical research to be examined on TV. Why do we need to justify helping those that need help, or to justify doing the right thing? We should HELP those that need help because brothers, sisters, our mothers, daughters, and yes, even our fathers and sons need help. And yes sometimes helping can be is as simple as sitting quietly in consideration. I do not know when this was forgotten but we need to remember, segregated statistics will not heal the past, it just won’t. For nearly 30 years, from one side of Canada to the other I have been immersed in the world of “statistics.” I call them people, people with broken hearts, addictions, pain, mental health issues, and confusion from loss. It has taught me one thing above all else: There is no such thing as unique or marginalized trauma. Pain is pain, and suffering is suffering because the deepest pain a person has felt, to the individual, it's the most painful experience they have felt, regardless if someone else has felt more or less. From the individual's perspective, the "most pain" is the "most pain," and when that is understood, we can then see we're all equal. Because life is intergenerational.

We are building the past right now, in real time, and new memories are being written on the hearts of the people. Memories filled with anxiety, anger, pain, sadness, fear, friendship, joy embraced in sorrow, and, more importantly, hope. And hope held in the innocent understanding children have naturally, that hope is for the things we cannot see. Adults sometimes carelessly destroy that in children by calling hope wishful thinking. The most important structure of society is the hearts of its people, not the walls that make the city, no matter how "smart" that city may be Canada
