for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia" - for the section Seasons and Weather... the first winter after we moved to Savannah, it SNOWED! We thought being in the Deep South, that it would be the first year of our lives without snow, but it snowed! (quite a lot too, the flakes were falling fast & the ground was covered)

for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia" - this is for the section about the art community in Savannah

for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia" - this is for the section called Faith and Food

for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia" - this angel pose was inspired by the statues in Savannah's historic cemeteries such as the ones in Bonaventure Cemetery (the statue monuments are white or grey, I created mine as if living, in a full color fantasy fall landscape)

for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia" - the Dawgs, popular college football team University of Georgia (UGA) Bulldogs' mascot is a white English bulldog named UGA who resides in Savannah. I painted a meaner looking English bulldog. UGA is much friendlier and a good sport!

for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia" - this art was inspired by the relief carvings in the historic buildings downtown, the cathedral and others. I imagined Mary if she were my sister, in a full color fantasy scene of joyful light. The angel told Mary not to be afraid, that she had God's favor. We aren't meant to be slaves to fear. Be happy, be free

for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia"
one of the famous squares inside city blocks - squares have mini parks with benches, fountains, landscaping - surrounding are bistros, shops, historic buildings like the cathedral

for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia"
a Celtic Cross was handcrafted in Ireland and gifted to the city's Irish heritage residents (and everyone). I lived in Ireland in 2016 & imagined a fantasy scene in full color for this art

for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia" - we get a lot of lizards here... they are good for eating bugs!

For book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia"
this is the state flower, Cherokee Rose

for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia", inspired by radar of Hurricane Irma

For book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia" - this was inspired by seeing a cross display at a local church for Easter. People were invited to place a cut flower into the cross. The idea was peaceful, joyful, and strikingly beautiful. A tradition that more should try!

"Guardian Lion" for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia" - inspired by a fountain statue of a winged lion that sits in front of the Savannah Cotton Exchange Building, facing Bay Street. It is known as "Lion's Fountain" and "Cotton Exchange Fountain". It was meant to symbolize protection and prosperity for the city, much like the Asian custom of guardian lions that stand in pairs in front of important buildings of the wealthy

Oil Painting "Breakfast with Friends" for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia: (section in book about coffee & tea cafe/bistro/food)

This art is for the section "Faith and Food" for the book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia". The beautiful historical cathedral of St. John the Baptist is rich in religious art and architecture. I was inspired to do (a contemporary artist's rendering, 2019) religious art of my own. In this, I imagine Jesus as the precious meek lamb, sacrifice for us- but also as the mighty warrior lion. All the power of a divine King, but kind, merciful. Grace. Love. God bless you.

For section "Flowers and Trees" for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia ~ common sight, mossy trees ~ dreamy interpretation of trees that line city streets, in parks, surrounding parking lots, and just about everywhere throughout the city and beyond

This is for the section "Seasons and Weather" for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia" ~ humid tropical weather means rain followed by sun, which produces frequent rainbows. This double rainbow was behind our house, could see it on the drive home. Looked especially inspiring over forestry.

For section "City of Savannah" in book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia" ~ locals sell food by the roadside, often boiled peanuts, sometimes other foods like peaches, watermelons, honey or tomatoes.

For section called Tybee Island, for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia" ~ happy memories at the beach ~ our favorite place

The tree frog is the Georgia state amphibian, painted for section "Native Birds, Reptiles and Amphibians" for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia". These little guys like to hang out on our patio glass doors, especially at night.

For the section Flowers and Trees for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia" ~ additional inspiration came from the beautiful original piano composition featured in the video. This area has a lot of deep green forestry and brilliantly colorful flowers (not joined together as in this imaginary scene, but the richness of nature is a peace and harmony that feels like music and dancing.

For section Faith and Food for book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia". Byrd's famous cookies are one of the city's special treats, established 1924. This is an oil painting of a plate of miniature powdered sugar peach cookies from Byrd Cookie Company.

Oil painting self portrait... me sitting on my patio near Savannah, Georgia. About half of what you see on the patio is my real garden, the rest of it is an imaginary expansion... my real patio is about half that size, and there's no path leading from it. All the birds are real visitors who come often. The hummingbirds and cardinals come daily. Bluebirds only come occasionally. Life is beautiful and precious, nature reminds us of this. God bless you.

For the book "50 Oil Paintings Inspired by Savannah, Georgia"

This special bird showed up on our patio one day, here in coastal Georgia, near Savannah. I looked up the name, Painted Bunting, and knew I had to paint it.
