Humans have a passion for order. But somehow much of what they produce is chaos. Chaos creates confusion, danger, which, if properly exploited, a source of opportunity and advantage.

The Chinese idiom for this is “fishing in muddy waters”. The fish don’t see you, so you can sneak up on them and scoop them up.

Right now the United States China hawk community is trying to impose order—an anti-PRC order—on the disparate economic, diplomatic, and military policies of the U.S. itself, its allies, its assets, and its enemies.

China is trying to blur those lines, and encourage the system to trend away from order to, if not chaos, muddiness.

This was a good week for muddiness.

In addition, he discusses the highlights of an exclusive interview by Igor Dodon, the pro-Russian president of Moldova. Lastly, Professor Kovacevic focuses on the growing political, economic, and media ties between Russia and China supported both by the Russian government and the Russian opposition political parties, such as the Communist Party of Russia. Remember when the oil price shot up to an unprecedented level of nearly $150 a barrel a decade ago, right in the middle of the Global Financial Crisis? Odd timing, huh? How, during that general fiscal fear & mayhem, this manic run-up in price of the most important industrial commodity on earth forced you to feel serious pain at the fuel pump alongside property prices dropping, only to then watch as the oil price plummeted more than 70% within six months?

Pure supply & demand, was it all? Or something else? And why, after over a year and a half of oil’s price remaining below $60 a barrel, has the price started to rise in the fashion that it has again over the past year? Any coincidence between this oil price spike and the fact that the stock market is starting to correct as it did ten years ago?

The murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi has dominated the news headlines. Americans are outraged by this brutal act of murder and dismemberment at the Saudi consulate in Turkey and yet few seem outraged by the government helping the Saudis kill thousands of people in Yemen. The crimes of the cruel medieval monarchy in Saudi Arabia are permitted and swept under the rug for two simple reasons—first, the desert kingdom has a whole lot of oil, and second it’s strategically located in the Persian Gulf where the US has stationed its Fifth Fleet to counterbalance its enemies, most prominently Iran. This is the dynamic driving what the US will do in response to the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. Will Trump end the supposedly special relationship with Saudi Arabia? It’s a crucial link in the neoliberal order and a vital component of petrodollar system. Is it possible one dead journalist will endanger the special relationship?

We look at recent developments in the burgeoning US campaign against the PRC, and find grounds for optimism, reasons to order that leadlined anti-radiation suit off Amazon, and some trainwreck stuff you simply can’t look away from. In Australia. Of course.
As usual, China is trying to dodge polarization and confrontation. And, as has been the case since the Pentagon gained control over the US government’s China policy apparatus, the US has been trying to push China into a strategic and geopolitical corner. And Australia has been working mightily to prove itself as America’s most loyal and obedient asset in Asia.

The dollar is under threat as the continuing global reserve currency, as is its critical function in pricing & trading the most important commodities & other assets on earth, be they oil, natural gas, gold, silver, copper, Treasury bonds as key sovereign-held-reserves, or foreign exchange benchmarks, amongst others. As is the increasingly indebted western banking system, which relies ultimately upon a strong, trusted dollar for the sake of perceptual solvency & other confidence tricks.

In the 1950s, the United States insisted the Soviet Union was a dire threat to America. This wasn’t even close to being true. This fallacy is disproven by a number of studies that show the economic growth of the Soviet Union was seriously hampered by the Second World War and despite a push for industrialization after the war it did not fully recover as late as 1961. In order to soften up the public and convince them a never-ending war against communism was required to protect America, a large propaganda effort was established. It focused primarily on children through comic books, schools, and textbooks. For adults, there were a number of films released that stoked paranoia of communist subversion. The Washington Post, at the time a conduit for CIA propaganda, cited these fictional reports and warned America would be reduced to a second-rate world power if it didn’t start competing with the Soviets in ICBM technology. Now we have come full circle. Once again, Russia is the enemy, and so is China. The Second Cold War is a remake of the first and for the same reason—to provide an excuse to continue spending billions of dollars on armaments and enriching the military-industrial and now surveillance complex.

In the ninety-fourth edition of the Russian Newspapers Monitor, Professor Filip Kovacevic discusses front page articles from four Russian newspapers: Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Komsomolskaya Pravda Moscow Edition, Moskovsky Komsomolets, and Kommersant. He discusses the 20th anniversary of the Center for Special Forces of the main Russian domestic intelligence agency, the FSB. While the current coverage of the Western mass media is focused mostly on the Russian military intelligence agency, incorrectly called the GRU, the FSB is both more powerful and better equipped. In addition, Professor Kovacevic presents the highlights of an exclusive interview with Igor Ashurbeyli, the former director of the leading Russian military-industrial company ‘Almaz-Antey,’ which produced the famed Russian anti-aircraft missile system S-400 and is now working on the even more sophisticated S-500. He also discusses the dangerous rise in ethnic tensions in the Caucasus between Chechnya and Ingushetia, two republics within the Russian Federation, and speculates as to who might be involved in stoking the flames. Lastly, Professor Kovacevic examines the Russian approach to the issues on the Korean peninsula. Do not miss this exclusive edition of the Russian Newspapers Monitor!

U.S.Vice President Mike Pence gave a speech at the Hudson Institute on October 4. Exactly one month before the midterms, it looks like the Trump administration is looking to close the books on “How Donald Trump betrayed America to Russia” and move on “How Donald Trump Saved America from China.”
Pence’s speech attracted a lot of attention because it positioned the People’s Republic of China as a hostile power actively undermining U.S. domestic security and interfering in the politics, business, media, and academia of the United States.
The main thrust of the Pence speech was to paint America as the injured party in a campaign of Chinese subversion against the homeland, not just somebody who is trying to eat America’s economic and diplomatic lunch in Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Up until very recently, there were essentially two kinds of business and economic reporting trends emanating since the 2008 Financial Crisis: Sanguine, triumphant and motivating news in the mainstream corporate transatlantic financial press, versus pensive, probing and skeptical viewpoints in the alternative economic press. The former was from sources tethered to the central and corporate banking sectors in Europe and North America, presenting information and sentiments meant to keep public expectations buoyant and optimistic about the state of Anglo-American economies. The latter was from independent analysts, contrarian observers, foreign press in Eastern & Southern hemispheres and keen bloggers who knew how to dig for data, determined not to be fooled again over real economic affairs. The former relied upon much false data emanating from government bureaus intent upon upholding confidence among consumers, in the financial markets and among foreign bondholders; the latter invested rigor into more credible metrics, monetary & political history, and fell back upon a decent track record of having called past financial crises.

The Tavistock Institute of Human Relations in England has worked behind the scenes for over a century to lay the groundwork for a one world government. Like the Club of Rome, covered in a previous episode, Tavistock has relentlessly pushed propaganda that predicts the end of Western civilization, adopted from the work of German philosopher Oswald Spengler. Under this secretive institute’s direction, the British elite and their American counterparts perfected the art of propaganda and successfully used this to get America involved in a war her people opposed. Tavistock is all about shaping opinion, culture, and gaining political consensus for a one world government and total domination. In this episode, we take you through the establishment of this organization by the Royal Institute for International Affairs and the British Royal family and the effort to start endless wars for profit and re-engineer society.

The U.S. cold war against China has been around longer than the general public realizes. It actually started in the closing years of the Obama administration, when Chuck Hagel was pushed out as Secretary of Defense and Admiral Harry Harris, a diehard China hawk, took the reins at PACOM in 2014.
Now Cold War 2.0 isn’t a cute little baby anymore, it’s an unruly adolescent, and that’s making some people nervous. Not just in China, where they’re supposed to be nervous; also in the US business community, and in Taiwanese society, and in the Uyghur diaspora, to mention the three areas we’ll cover this week.

Back in June of this year, tech entrepreneur and multi-billionaire Elon Musk tweeted that he’s actually a “socialist”. He also tweeted that 19th Century philosopher Karl Marx was a “capitalist”. Yes, you heard correctly. Hilarity subsequently ensued online in the ‘Tweet-osphere’ and among Musk observers.

Now, seeing how near-fictionally busy Musk is and has been for over two decades in founding and heading up multiple successful tech firms, perhaps he’s never formally studied political philosophy, political economy, monetary history or the like and was simply ‘thinking out loud’, as it were, in a superficial space limited to 280 characters per tweet. OR, perhaps there’s more nuance to said qualifications, Musk’s word choices, and actually deeper, longer standing philosophical meanings to such otherwise globally overused categorizations as “socialism” and “capitalism”.

We have no real property rights. Think about it. That house you live in, the car you drive, the small (or not so small) acreage of land that has been passed down through your family or that you scrimped and saved to acquire, whatever money you manage to keep in your bank account after the government and its cronies have taken their first and second and third cut…none of it is safe from the government’s greedy grasp. At no point do you ever have any real ownership in anything other than the clothes on your back. Everything else can be seized by the government under one pretext or another (civil asset forfeiture, unpaid taxes, eminent domain, public interest, etc.). The American Dream has been reduced to a lease arrangement in which we are granted the privilege of endlessly paying out the nose for assets that are only ours so long as it suits the government’s purposes. And when it doesn’t suit the government’s purposes? Watch out. This is not a government that respects the rights of its citizenry or the law. Rather, this is a government that sells its citizens to the highest bidder and speaks to them in a language of force.

This October the Club of Rome will celebrate its 50th anniversary. The elite responsible for the Club of Rome and its Malthusian philosophy have long used the fear of external enemies and the Hegelian dialectic of problem, reaction, solution to impose a political and social agenda on humanity. For the Club of Rome, you are the problem. We’re told if we don’t act now rising temperatures and seas along with increasing weather anomalies and crop failures will end humanity in the next twenty or so years. According to this doomsday scenario, the final chapter of humanity will be mega-droughts, famine, and widespread civil unrest. The global warming thesis is designed to control, depopulate, and rollback civilization. An Anthropocene endgame was designed to elicit fear in populations and ensure their compliance and complicity as a global totalitarian system micromanaged by a banker and corporate elite. If you want to learn about this organization and its Malthusian agenda, please subscribe to Newsbud and watch the entire video.

There’s so much false media noise over tariff wars, currency manipulations, Russian poisoning charges, supposedly shifty allegiances in Washington toward Moscow and other theatrical propagandistic concoctions that there’s very little chance the wider English speaking populace will view – let alone understand – the much larger macroeconomic and thus geopolitical stakes plaguing increasingly deteriorating relations between the US and its closest transatlantic allies, and the rapidly integrating Eurasian and globally southern hemispheric bloc of nations seeking to untether from the unprecedented strength of the US dollar in dictating world affairs.

This week was Xi Jinping’s big Africa moment, the Forum on China Africa Cooperation or FOCAC. Maybe you didn’t hear about it a lot because the PRC was counterprogramming against the West’s debt trap diplomacy talking point with some success.
And maybe you did hear about China’s plot to kill us all with bird flu.
China’s trying to get traction as the anti-Trump: a responsible, capable force in the world order promoting win-win cooperation, prosperity, and a better, healthier tomorrow.

It isn’t easy with Western government and media continually on the prowl to identify and package anti-PRC talking points.

This week China Watch looks at two stories making the rounds: Zambia falls into China’s debt trap…and…China’s going to destroy the world with bird flu.
