If you're wondering how far I got last time, I believe it was to the 2nd Mr. X Stage. And then I never continued! But this time - we're making like Master Cheif and Finishing the Fight!

I also mistakingly said the "point of no return" was later in the game - it's not. Once you challenge Mr. X you're in the PONR. So if you need to back out and get more items too bad! You can't unless you want to start all over again! So for the newcomers in the audience, I don't judge you if you wanna use savestates to practice and git gud so you can do it in one clean shot.

But that's not all - it seems like Mr. X might have a secret...and I don't mean hidden 1UPs and E-Tanks...

Welcome on down to another MAME Tutorial! Today we're going to go over how to set up Light Gun controls for the mouse. We haven't had the chance to get our mitts on any PC Light Gun peripherals (Like AIM TRAK), but rest assured, once we get one, we'll dissect the ins-and-outs and post a follow up!

Setting up the light gun controls for MAME isn't incredibly difficult - you just need to make sure you tick the right check boxes and go through your controls to make sure everything is set upright. Past that, the controls are pretty simple - set up your X and Y axis, and the shoot button. Some games, like CarnEvil, will have a button to simulate the shotgun pump or special ability, so just map that to the right button or whatever you're comfortable with.

I'll also be going over some other things too, such as how to adjust the speed your cursor moves, and how to get dual mice support so you can shoot up bad guys with a friend without making them play with a keyboard or controller (oof!). I won't be going over how to set it up for the keyboard or controller, as there's pretty much no reason to use them when the mouse is SO much better. If you do, don't use an analog joystick unless you REALLY want to spend time tinkering with fine-tuning the controls. Trust me.

I won't be going too in-depth about troubleshooting (hah!) what happens if your gun's aim is off aside from a general overview. Most likely I'll make individual videos for each game to show off the operator menu and note any special things I've noticed like shots pulling off or lagging even if you've set things up right.

Time for another monster-bashing installment of the non-commentary King of Dragons Arcade Longplay! This time it's the Dwarf's turn to go on the epic quest to stop the red dragon Gildiss!

Dwarf is a bit of a fast mover, with a long jump, and not too shabby attack and defense. His magic though is bad, but perhaps his fast attack speed makes up for it? Not really my preferred character to play as, but it was interesting as I never really play as Dwarf.

NO cheats were used in this run. Game is set to Normal difficulty. ROM used is "The King of Dragons (World 910805)".

It's dragon bashing time! And I do mean bashing fellow Dazzlers and New Players alike, as this week the Cleric is up to bat! He's a sacred warrior that's taken an oath that forbids him the use of swords and axes, so it's hammers and clubs for this adventurer!

Cleric moves slow - REALLY slow - and has a short hop for a jump. However, he's got a good defense, decent magic, and gains levels faster than the others. Which means quicker health increases! I tend to not play the Cleric that much but after this run, I feel this may change very shortly.

Time to grab our holy weapons and take out some unholy monsters!

The monster slashing adventures continue in the latest installment of the no commentary King of Dragons run! This week brings about The Fighter. He's got good hops, good HP, and good raw attack strength...but isn't so good when it comes to magic. But he's got a shield he can block with! Upgrades bring about higher defense, changing his shield, and better attack power, changing his sword.

Blocking in this game is...difficult. If you've every played a fighting game with a parry system where you need to push a button or move the joystick at the *exact* right time (like parrying from Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike) that's blocking in this game. The SNES home port would actually add a dedicated block button, however.

The Fighter isn't my first choice to play as usually, but I don't mind playing as him. But there's no time to talk about that - we got some dragons to kill!

Hello there fellow Dazzlers and New Players alike! Welcome to the next installment of the No Commentary King of Dragons run! This week, we're zapping away badguys as Wizard. A bit of a slower character, with low defense, HP, and an okay jump, he can be difficult to use. But what he lacks in those areas he makes up with power. Not too terribly strong at first, but give him a few upgraded weapons and he'll be knocking back blue orcs and skeleton with one shot in no time.

One of my favorite characters to play, even if I'm not too terribly good at it. Time to zap some dragons!

The hunt ends!

I really like the ending cinematic for the game, I think it's done pretty well, and shows a bit of how the Predators are in terms of honor and respect.

In other media, Predators are shown to give weapons or other "markings" to warriors they think are worthy enough of it - think Predator 2 when the other Predators give Harrington the flintlock pistol after he kills one of them.

The game also seems to do a small amount of sequel baiting. Though it's debatable as to if Capcom was intending to do another game or just doing what these franchises tend to do as Alien and Predator movies do their own share of vague sequel baiting.

MIDWAY PRESENTS...A really really long series of attraction loops.

Like other fighting games, Mortal Kombat II's attraction sequence shows off the different fighter profiles. We also get the backstory first thing, as well as some other screens like the high score table, a quick advert for the sound system used in the game and....an offer for a Mortal Kombat comic book. Too bad that offer's no longer good that sounds pretty awesome!

This video aims to show a "Full loop" of the attract mode - that is, it's showing off all the character profiles and how many loops and how long it would take to do that. The game actually won't repeat any profiles until all playable character profiles have been shown, and then it'll start at the beginning of the list. Each time the game is turned on or reset the list is randomized.

If you're looking to just read the profiles and see the charcter demos hang tight - I'll have a video up soon that shows just the character profiles and also adds in some music for when it goes quiet.

Oh yeah, that's a thing. The attract sequence goes quiet after a few loops until either the game is reset, switched off/on, or a game is played. There's no option to change that as far as I'm aware.

Sometimes you just can't win in the tournament! Welcome to the screen you've probably seen more than you'd like to admit if you've played Mortal Kombat II: The good ol' game over/continue screen.

Surprisingly not too intense, and still giving off that more eastern, tournament vibe that was active in the early MK games.

A couple things to note! The cheering was done using MAME cheats. You can also use MAME cheats to force the secret game over scren. That's right, MKII had some secret game over screens that you might see in a rare chance. On top of that - you could get other secret messages as well.

NOW THE COMBAT CONTINUES....with Mortal Kombat II!

It's about time I do more fighting games on this channel, and today we're bringing the fire so... let's play Mortal Kombat II! First unleashed in April 1993, MKII upped the ante from the original with MORE blood, MORE fatalities, MORE characters, MORE secrets and yes, MORE broken AI that makes you want to pull your hair out.

But that's okay, Razzle's here to give you a Mortal Kombat II walkthrough....kinda. I'll admit I'm not the best and I don't know all the tricks, but for all you Mortal newcomers looking for how to beat Mortal Kombat II so you can topple the King of Outworld, Shao Khan, here's one way to do it. Can you beat SHAO KAHN'S CHALLENGE?

As a note! This game is set to VERY EASY. Mainly for my own sanity. But the game does eventually work up to VERY HARD mode - which also explains why the game will demolish you a few fights in even if it's set to Very Easy.

This was played in MAMEUI64 0.214. The ROM used in this game was Mortal Kombat II (Rev L3.1).

Today we've got the "Round 2 Subway Park I" music from Capcom's classic beat 'em up Final Fight.

Personally I don't really uh, I'm not too good at the game. That's more of Razzle's thing. But I like the music! It's classic Capcom sounds!

I also really like how the track whips up and down. It really really shows how Audiosurf is shaped by the sounds. That one quick sec of the song slowing and it whips up. And then you get that more intense part that's actually really fun to play!

Definitely a song you should check out on your own!

Hello there fellow Dazzlers and New Players alike. Today we've got the Attract Mode from Splatter House.

The sequence opens with the game's title screen, and then the opening cutscene where Rick and Jennifer flee to West Mansion/Splatterhouse, only for Jennifer to scream as the lighting cracks. Next a demo of one of 4 areas in the game will play, you'll see the high score screen and then repeat.

The demos always play in the same order, and will not repeat until each one has been demonstrated. The demos serve as a good way to see a few different parts of the game, as well as see the Slide Kick in action. Whoever's playing the demo isn't too good though.

BWAHAHAHA! Welcome fellow ghoulish Dazzlers and New Players to this horrific gore-filled Halloween episode of Arcade Appreciation! Do take note, this game is filled to the brim with fiendish monsters, violence, blood, and gore. Viewer discretion is advised for our younger gamers in the audience.

For our 19th installment, we bring...SPLATTERHOUSE! One of Namco's chilling games from the 1980's...1988 to be exact! Quite a different specimen from Namco's usual fare, Splatterhouse is a gore-filled, monster mashing thrill ride packed with mayhem and action! It's ghoulish side-scrolling arcade action you don't want to miss.

Rick and Jennifer have stumbled upon West Mansion, known to locals as the "Splatterhouse". Jennifer is taken prisoner and Rick is killed...until the mystical Terror Mask fuses with his face, giving him the power to get up and beat down these monsters.

It's known for being a difficult game, but luckily yours truly is pretty decent at the game, so I'll do my best to give you hints and tips so you too can bash in the evils of West Mansion!

Here it is! The ending to Golden Axe. Also trying out something different here with the game - showing off the tail end of the final fight rather than the whole Death Adder battle.

Mainly because it's a long one but also because I'm assuming you're here mainly to see the game's ending, not the boss fight.

It's all the bosses in Golden Axe...with me attempting to kill 'em all WITHOUT using any magic. It goes about as well as you'd expect but hey, extra challenges are always good, right?

I've also elected to add the name of each boss before the battles, so you can get what their names are. Except for the 4th boss, I dunno if they're really fiends or not, but I'm gonna assume on that one.

Ever wondered what happens when you lose in your epic journey to kill Death Adder?

Not much really, your typical game over stuff in arcades. Though you do get a nice little read out of your score and strength.

If you're wondering how I managed to get that far without having scores on the other levels...MAME cheats. I thought having it take place farther in the game would be neat but I didn't want to play that far just to do a game over vid.

Fun fact! You can press Magic to actually force end the timer and skip right to a game over.

It's the attract sequence for Golden Axe!

It's a pretty simple format. The game boots up and, in the US version, you're greeted with the ol' classic "WINNERS DON'T DO DRUGS!" PSA, and the Golden Axe logo comes flying in, followed by a demo and short bio of Ax-Battler, Tryis, and Gillius with a short appearance by Death Adder. We get the logo one more time, and then it plays one of two levels.

Pretty simple sequence, nothing too super special. Unfortunately the game lacks any sort of high score table - it does show the "top score" but you can't even put in initials for that. The levels cycle between Turtle Village and the first part of the Castle level.

This will most likely be the format I use for these "bonus videos". I feel like there's no need to clutter the side bars with my ugly furry mug and the marquee for the game. But we'll see!

We're back! After straying away from arcade games for so long!

Hello fellow Dazzlers and New Players alike! Razzle Joestar here bringing you another classic arcade game - this time it's Sega's classic belt scroller beat 'em up, Golden Axe!

The peaceful kingdom is under siege by the titanic foe Death Adder. It's now up to three heroes - Ax-Battler, Gillius, and Tryis - to take up arms and put a stop to his evil army. Players will battle across a handful of action packed stages as they take on Death Adder's barbaric hordes.

Doing things a little different for this episode - the usual "Arcade Appreciation" title sequence has been removed in favor of getting right into the action. While I love Universa as an opening theme...I kinda feel like it's a bit redundant to introduce both the game and series - I mean doesn't the title and thumbnail kiiiinda do that already? Universal is still here though - as the end theme.

I also removed the real-time credits counter, mainly to speed up post processing. Instead, there'll be a results screen at the end of the video that shows off the total credits, continues, and (figurative) moolah spent to beat the game. I'm also going to include other stats too, like total score or any other cool things I feel like adding. Let me know what you think!
