Lost Lake Pontchartrain Resorts & Attractions by Catherine Campanella: https://amzn.to/2NNbshH
From Native Americans to Pontchartrain Beach this ares of New Orleans history is long and interesting as New Orleans owes a lot of its very existence to Bayou St. John. At the original point where Lake Pontchartrain met Bayou St. John now sits the crumbling remains of an old fort known variously as The Old Spanish Fort, Fort St. John or most commonly just Spanish Fort. The history of this fort goes back before New Orleans existed and it went from being a military installation to a resort for the elite of New Orleans which was transformed into an amusement park for the masses which evolved into Pontchartrain Beach along with entertaining generations of New Orleans residents. The Spanish Fort amusement park was an integral part of the development of New Orleans culture and Jazz history. Notable restaurants in the Spanish Fort park area included Moreau’s Restaurant, Noy’s Restaurant, Over the Rhine Restaurant and Tranchina’s Restaurant. The park eventually was forced to move out of Spanish Fort due to the lakefront land reclamation project of the Orleans Parish Levee Board. The Spanish Fort park reinvented itself and moved nearby onto some of the newly reclaimed land in 1924 and transformed into the first Pontchartrain Beach Amusement Park. The first Pontchartrain Beach Amusement Park closed in 1938, to move to an even larger location in what used to be Milneburg, and opened in 1939. The Spainish Fort and Pontchartrain Beach Amusement Parks brought joy to thousands of people over many generations. Sadly the amazing history of Spanish Fort along with its important place in the good food, good times and good people history of New Orleans has largely been forgotten by most these days and few even know about the crumbling ruins that remain of the old Spanish Fort of Fort St. John. This is definitely New Orleans history that deserves to be remembered. Fort St. John having been such a huge part of New Orleans history from before the city existed to The Battle of New Orleans and to just being a place of joy for so many is worthy of preservation.

Alpharetta Georgia is in the Atlanta metro area and we visit the Jerusalem Bakery & Grill for a Middle East feast and then do a hotel review of the Aloft Hotel in Alpharetta, GA. Jerusalem Bakery & Grill offers some great food along with baking fresh pita and a nice Middle Eastern market. Aloft Hotel Alpharetta, GA offers a nice stay with comfortable rooms and great internet speeds. Alpheretta, GA is a great option for staying in the greater Atlanta area when planning your Georgia vacation.

Save Our Cemeteries: https://www.saveourcemeteries.org/
Louisiana COD (Cities of the dead) by Gaspar J. "Buddy" Stall: https://amzn.to/35NXc0A
The New Orleans cemetery tour is famous or infamous and NOLA is famous for its cemeteries depending on what news is being reported or what fake stories vs true history tour guides and others decide to spread. A common myth of cemeteries in New Orleans is that the above ground tombs are used due to the high water table in the area which is demonstrably FALSE. New Orleans has burials underground going back before the first formal burial ground was established in the city.
Many tourists often believe that the oldest cemetery in New Orleans is St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 which is historically wrong. The first "official" formal burial ground the Catholic Church established in New Orleans was St. Peter Cemetery, which opened in 1723, and that graveyard is currently bounded by the contemporary French Quarter map of St. Peter, North Rampart, Toulouse and Burgundy streets. The burials at St. Peter were underground and still under the current buildings as the city took the property over leaving the buried bodies that remain there just a few feet under the ground.
St. Peter Cemetery was unfortunately not the last burial ground to be desecrated and destroyed by the government of the city of New Orleans. The first Protestant Cemetery in New Orleans, the old Girod Street Cemetery, was founded in 1822 and was closed down in 1940 when it then remained derelict until it was officially torn down on January 4, 1957. Both the city of New Orleans and many of the area residents removed large quantities of the memorials, bricks and art to use in building walls, decorating gardens and other purposes. The location of the old Girod Street Cemetery is now where the Superdome Parking Garage and Champion's Square complex are currently located and certainly there are still graves remaining underneath that area.
Unlicensed "tour guides" along with local residents and tourists have desecrated, damaged and destroyed tombs. There are many reports and evidence showing broken tombs with human remains strewn about the graveyards to satisfy the morbid curiosity of people or as a consequence of grave robbers. Human remains have even been stolen and sold by a self proclaimed "witch" along with many others engaging in this practice as human bones can fetch tempting amounts of money on the black market. Due to the many acts of destruction on the tombs and cemeteries in the New Orleans area some of them have been closed to access without a licensed tour guide. The best organization to book cemetery tours with is Save Our Cemeteries who have been a leading force in preserving, repairing and maintaining our cemeteries along with providing ACCURATE history and facts about the burial practices of the area.

Atlanta food review of German restaurant The Village Corner German Restaurant & Bakery as we have an Octoberfest party and enjoy some German food and big beers. The Villiage Corner in Stone Mountain Georgia is a great spot for good food and good times so it makes a perfect Octoberfest party 2020 location to celebrate. We do a food review of German food eaten during two dinners while we visited Villiage Corner at Stone Mountain, Georgia. Any restaurant review of German restaurant food would not be complete without also reviewing the beer which we also sample. Our food review of German food in this episode includes sauerbraten and chicken in wine sauce.

Review of Octoberfest Munich in 2019 with a direct flight from New Orleans to Frankfurt au Main to the opening day of Octoberfest in Munich. We review several restaurants traditional German food in Frankfurt am Main and then travel to München Oktoberbest for more great German food in Germany and enjoy great German beer. We visit several Munich breweries and tour downtown Munich with visits to the Marienplatz to see the Rathaus-Glockenspiel and the amazing Dallmayr gourmet food paradise that offers even more great German food. I finish off my Bayern Trachten by finding a nice janker to go with my lederhosen and head off to WIESNZELT" at Stiglmaierplatz at the
Löwenbräukeller. The Octoberfest Germany celebrations are an amazing experience even before the festival begins as just imagine a combination beer fest, music fest and state fair with rides, great food and great beer, wine and other drinks; then most people dress in costumes at this event along with spending hundreds of dollars on their Trachten outfits; then you mostly need reservations to sit inside the festival tents and you have Munich Octoberfest. We wake up bright and early on the opening day of Oktoberfest (or as the locals call it d'Wiesn after the festival grounds it is held on which is named the Theresienwiese) to get a rare un-reserved seat in one of the festival tents. Join us to experience fantastic Bavarian culture, traditional German food and beer along with a lot of great fun with people from Germany, Austria, Sicily and all over the world as we all experience Gemütlichkeit.

The Pearl River Blues Berry Farm is about 1.5 hours away from New Orleans in Lumberton, Mississippi. This blueberry farm has really built a beautiful environment with lots of pretty flowers and large trees with plenty of comfortable areas to sit spread out all around the farm area. They have also constructed several bottle trees around the area. The farm grows multiple varieties of blueberries here so you get a mix of different types of berries as you do the picking. I have visited many u-pick berry farms over the years but so far Pearl River Blues Berry Farm is one of my favorite self-picking berry farms and the Mississippi blueberries are delicious! Pearl River Blues Berry Farm takes cash, check or Venmo.

The Island Pigeon Forge, TN has a great variety of attractions for visitors to this exciting spot. The Island Pigeon Forge, Tennessee has a lot of activities to offer people of all ages and it all starts with free parking. Once you park at The Island in Pigeon Forge Tennessee then you can take a short walk to the resort area which is anchored by the Margaritaville Island Hotel & Margaritaville Island Inn. Once you walk past those hotels you enter into the shopping district of Market Street. From Market Street you can walk all the way down to the amusement park area with several rides with the most obvious being the Ferris wheel (known as The Wheel at The Island). There are even more shops, bars and restaurants surrounding the amusement park area on Pigeon Forge island and among them are Yee-Haw Brewing, Ole Smoky Moonshine and Paula Deen's Family Kitchen.

The Theater at OWA featuring Legends tribute artists put on a fantastic show on July 4th, 2020. The performance included impersonators portraying Elvis Presley, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson and Luke Bryan. This is a Las Vegas level quality show that events at OWA offers which is better than any other show I have seen even in Las Vegas. Elvis was the King of Rock and Roll and the tribute artist in this performance was definitely the king of the show. Michael Jackson was really performed amazingly well and the tribute artist was often better than the original. Britney Spears was portrayed very accurately and the tribute performance was done with a lot of fun. Luke Bryan had the shortest and simplest performance but the artist still did an outstanding show. These performers put on a fantastic and entertaining show along with a very talented back up cast. The Theater at OWA is also a nice venue with excellent special effects that really bring world class entertainment to The Park at OWA.

In this episode we will have a crazy food adventure to review some ROYAL beach food with some great seafood & desserts! Join us as we visit The Royal Oyster & Hope's Cheesecake in Gulf Shores, Alabama for a great beach food experience. The Royal Oyster has a fantastic selection of raw and roasted oysters along with some great Gulf Coast food with New Orleans and Indian fusion touches. The Royal Oyster also has some great craft cocktails, mojitos and Old Fashioneds. Hope's Cheesecake is a great dessert joint offering a huge variety of cheesecake options in many sizes and flavors. Hope's Cheesecake is also the home of (in my opinion) the BEST cookie in the world, The Hope's Royal Cookie. When looking for great things to do in Gulf Shores, Alabama these are certainly a couple of great options for good times, good food and good people. Watch me eat all this mukbang style.

Most folks that live outside of NOLA typically think of New Orleans mainly as the downtown area where they know about visiting the big tourist area of the French Quarter with Bourbon Street, Cafe Du Monde, The French Market, Antioine's Restaurant and many other great spots. Some folks even know about Frenchmen Street in the Marigny with all the great music. A lot of people have also visited the Central Business District (CBD) which includes areas like the Warehouse District with spots like Emeril's flagship restaurant along with the National World War II Museum. Sadly, due to the current global Coronavirus/COVID-19 Pandemic, most businesses have closed but there are still some places open and the streets still have life yet the streets are more sparsely populated than even during and after Hurricane Katrina. This unique time in history has left these areas very lonely along with giving us a great time to film these areas and just appreciate the great beauty of the architecture, plant life and weather of the area.

In this episode we explore the areas of New Orleans around Bayou St. John and City Park going from water to wildflowers. These are really beautiful parts of New Orleans that many tourists never get to see and often many don't even know these areas exist as they sadly never leave the French Quarter. It was a beautiful day for shooting film and there were a lot of folks out enjoying some fresh air and sunshine out on Bayou St. John and City Park.

This is a great tour of the beautiful areas along Magazine Street and St. Charles Avenue in the Lower Garden District, Irish Channel and Garden District neighborhoods of New Orleans. People are avoiding large crowds and maintaining social distancing but there is definitely a LOT more life in the Lower Garden District, Irish Channel and Garden District along St. Charles Avenue and Magazine Street during the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic quarantine. Many more businesses are open and many more people are out exercising, riding bicycles, driving cars, walking dogs and shopping in these much more residential areas of New Orleans. This really shows how small the local population living in the French Quarter, CBD, Warehouse District and Frenchmen Street area have become along with how dependent on tourism New Orleans really is.

A review of GoPro HERO7 Black TimeWarp feature. This is Part 2 of our video tour of New Orleans in the areas of Bayou St. John and City Park in New Orleans, LA. In this episode we will use the TimeWarp feature of the GoPro Hero 7 Black camera to do a fast paced tour of some sections and shooting perspectives of Bayou St. John and City Park that we did not get in Part 1. Restaurant review of GT's on the Bay in Orange Beach, Alabama which is a family friendly restaurant and great beach food destination. GTs on the Bay is a kid friendly restaurant for family dining with a playground. If you are searching for family restaurants near me to entertain you kids GT's has a large indoor aquarium pond with blue crabs and fish to make this one of the best restaurants for kids. The adults can also have plenty of fun here along with this kid friendly restaurant as GTs offers a large back patio area with a tiki bar and a pier you can walk out on to get a great view of Wolf Bay. GT's is also right next door to the Orange Beach Waterfront Park which is open to the public and offers a great spot to view some of the beach wildlife.

Luna's Eat & Drink is located next to BuzzCatz Coffee & Sweets and the Magnolia Hall event venue. Luna is a great lunch and dinner spot and when added in with all the other options in this complex you really have excellent choices in food in this spot. These businesses are located in the Cosmo's Courtyard complex in Orange Beach, Alabama. Luna's offers great deals on their meat and three lunch specials along with having fantastic prices for their daily fun happy hours so if you are searching for the cheapest happy hour near me then you need to check out Lunas Orange Beach. BuzzCatz is not your average coffee joint so if you are looking for the best coffee near me then you should check out what BuzzCatz is offering as they have a bakery that puts out some great pastries, cakes, desserts along with offering ice cream and great coffee.
