Off Grid Warrior
Today we discuss off grid land and building options. I present my experiences and folks in chat get to bring their questions, ideas and experiences. Bring your questions regarding living off the grid & small homesteading.
Life is short... make it happen.
Livestream starts Friday 23 Feb @ 6pm MST
Today we will be discussing living off grid and power setups. I live in a small cabin so my power requirements are minimal. I use solar panels, solar generators and a gas generator to charge varies items like a 12v refrigerator, cabin lights and tools.
It's been awhile since I took some time to just go and explore for a few days. On this trip I had planned to cover some mileage on foot but managed to tweak my ankle on day 2 which forced me to alter my plans. Essentially I stayed near the vehicle and roamed a few easy areas... not my typical modus operandi.
In this video I discuss location considerations when setting up a hammock on a hillside or slope. I make a fire, boil some water for dinner and that's about it.
I was introduced to hammock camping about 8 years ago. I have only owned one hammock and that is the Hennessy Expedition Hammock, I belive it is the A-sym zip model. This hammock has been thoroughly used and abused and is still going strong.

I was pretty exited to head up to the survival shelter this past weekend, I could see the surrounding mountains had what looked like a decent blanket of snow on their tops. Unfortunately as I got closer to the shelter range I realized that the snow line was probably 1000 ft higher than the survival shelter location.
The lack of snow provided me with a good opportunity to finish up on some vital preps. I know from past experiences that the last chore I want to do at the end of a challenging all uphill snow hike is find wood and process it.

Thanks to a few of my subs who brought the Cubic Mini Stove to my attention. Since December I have been heating the inside of Winter Shelter using a Mr Heater portable buddy heater. The Buddy heater has been less than ideal... clearly being dependent on propane is not a pathway to being self reliant or self sufficient. I have lived through Winters using wood stoves for heating and cooking and as far as I am concerned NOTHING beats wood heat. Granted I have never owned a wood stove that could pass as a toy but seriously this stove is the real deal, complete with a fire brick lined interior and all the controls you would expect to find on a typical wood stove.
I will have a more in-depth review on offgridwarrior.com in a few days along with some pictures once I have had more time with the Cubic mini wood stove.

I'm on a mission to live a simplified life, living off the grid, unconventionally and being as self sufficient as possible is the end goal.
I am done with main stream media, so called “news” agencies each with their own agendas shaping the news for their own political affiliations. I am done with meaningless in-your-face-everywhere-all-the-time advertising. I am done with rules and regulations micro managing my every move, what I can do, what I can’t do.
If living off the grid and bucking the norms appeals to you, I would like to encourage you subscribe to my channel.
