During my return trip from Florida this winter, I had a major blow-out in a construction zone that destroyed one of my wheels and three of the tires on my 2017 Jayco Seismic 4113. This is what I decided to replace them with. I purchased 7 new Sendel S20 wheels, and 7 new TransEagle ST All Steel Tires. Finally had the time to get them mounted and balanced (with bead bags/silicon beads) this weekend. Thanks to my boys G & T, for the help with installing them!!!

Today, my son asked if we could build an anvil base for his blacksmithing hobby. We found 16 pieces of 4x4's, some old threaded rod, some nuts and washers, and the left over boiled linseed oil from the R-BQ project. The only thing we had to buy was the wood glue ($25). Thought we would share this with you, and hopefully you get something out of it or get inspired to build something yourself!

Today I installed an LED headlight & highway light kit on my 2000 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic. The difference between these and the factory incandescent lights is literally night and day! Very easy to install (6 Phillips head screws and 4 spade terminals). The kit is pretty much plug-and-play, and only took about 20-minutes to install. Keith at Eagle Lights was very helpful answering some questions I had prior to purchasing these. Our cousins had a problem with their fishing boat trailer. Over the years, one of the cross-braces on their trailer rusted out and split in half. He brought it by earlier in the week so I could take some measurements and plasma cut some "fish plates" (patching plates) for it. I designed the parts in CAD, and plasma cut them out during the week. Today, he brought the trailer by, and my son Brandon and I welded them in. Now, he should be able to safely get some more years out of it! Thanks Jim & Jimmy, it was great seeing you guys, and the beers and BBQ were great!!!

Today, I did an experiment to see if it was possible to powder coat glass bottles. I needed an amber bottle for another experiment I am going to do (and show in a future video), and didn't have anything but clear bottles. I figured, Hey!, why not paint or powder coat one???!!! I didn't think paint would hold up well, but how do you powder coat a non-conductive material??? After thinking about it a bit, I came up with an idea. Watch to see how it worked out...

For the last year or so, I have been experiencing bad work boot odor. I have been wearing the same style of Georgia Boot Company boots for the last 5-6 years, and they usually last me 18-24 months. The last (4th) pair I bought only lasted ~9-months and I started experiencing boot stink! When that pair failed, I was on vacation and needed a replacement, so I bought a pair of Keen (Pittsburgh 6") boots on the recommendation of a friend. To my great disappointment, these boots started smelling badly within a week, and failed after only 5-months of what I would consider moderate use compared to what I put the Georgia's through. I replaced them with a pair of Carhartt 8" Logger / Climbing Boots, which to my dismay, also started smelling badly within the first week. My quest for a solution was on! I looked for and tried many things from foot powders/sprays, to charcoal odor absorbers. Nothing was working, and the foot powders left me with a pasty feeling between my toes after a long day on my feet.

After looking at many solutions, I decided that a boot dryer would be my best bet. While looking at various boot dryers and simultaneously looking for a video on how to repair my old Sharper Image Ionic Breeze, a recommended video popped up for the OdorStop Disinfecting Boot Dryer which uses ozone. I know how well ozone works with my past experience with the Ionic Breeze, and with an ozone-ator in my jacuzzi, so I decided to give it a try. This unit worked much better than I expected! While I was waiting for the dryer to come in, I also tried something else. I found a video on YouTube, which I cannot find to give the creator credit for, that suggested washing the insoles and coating them with Anti-Perspirant, letting them dry, and reinserting them in the boot. This actually worked! It does, however, need to be reapplied every few months.

On a side note: Although the Keen boots I show in this video (Pittsburg 6") failed after only 5-months, and I probably would have never bought another pair again, my friend told me to contact Keen's warranty department and file a claim. To my pleasant surprise, Keen honored their 1-year warranty and credited me the entire purchase price of the boots! I ordered a replacement pair (Philadelphia 6" Logger) from their website, and hope to have better luck with this pair. I think I will be sticking with welted sole construction boots from now on. Thank you and kudos to Keen for being an honorable company and standing behind their product!

Got to spend a few days in Arizona with my son. We spent some time with Back Country Preps, AZ Off Grid, and Detroit Preppin’ came out as well. During our time there, we got to see the Grand Canyon for the first time, and saw some of the clearest skies with the brightest stars I’ve ever seen. Oh yeah, and played with some cowboy guns!!!

The first leg of my tour was to Colorado Springs, to pick up my son who just got out of the military. In order to avoid messing up my rear springs (like I did on my F-350) and make towing my 1994 Damon Escaper 5th wheel camper more pleasant, I installed AirLift Ultimate 5000+ air bags and the WirelessOne air compressor system, before my cross country trip to Colorado. The installation was straight forward and took about 3-hours for the airbags (as stated by AirLift). The WirelessOne system, however, took a bit longer than the 1-2 hours stated. This is the first time I have done this, and I'm not an automotive electronics expert, so I can't fault AirLift. If you are having this done by a mechanic or trailer shop, 3-5 hours sounds more than enough. The installation went extremely well, and I did not run into any problems. I have been putting this off for 2-years, but it was finally time to pull the trigger and upgrade the truck. I got a very good deal on a 2019 F-450 Platinum. A few months ago, the dealers weren't budging on prices, but now that the 2020's are coming out later this month, they're trying to get the 2019's off the lot. I was hoping to find another blue one, but the choices were limited to Black, Red, or White if I wanted to go way out of the area. The PowerStroke 6.7L has an amazing amount of power. Now, I just need to put 1,000 miles on it in the next 3 weeks before I head out to Colorado with the 5th wheel camper to pick up my son!

We had a big storm roll through the Shitcago area last night, and it filled up the "dry" retention pond behind the shop. My son and his buddies decided it would be fun to get a couple of old jet-skis running that my buddy left when he moved to NC. After fixing a fuel problem on the Kawasaki, and a bunch of beers later, they got the Kawasaki TS running and took it for a spin around the pond. The Yamaha was not as fortunate. After pumping the hull out, they found that some of the wires were rotted from being filled with water for a number of years. They were super excited to get even one running. We had a great night !!!

Today I received a notice from Ebay that they had removed 7 product listings I have had up for over a year. The items were muzzle brakes/flash supressors/compensators that could be used with .22/.22LR/5.56/.223 cal. rifles and pistols. They said they were removed because they could be used with what they consider to be "assault weapons". I'm calling this the Walmart effect. Get on the phone, write letters, and email these companies and tell them that you are unhappy about their business practices. Boycott them, or cut back on using them whenever possible if a full boycott is not possible. The only thing they understand is some pain in the pocketbook. Also, help get people like Roger Henderson elected so that our voices get heard throughout government!!!
