The final leg of the R-Syndicate Across America Tour! Had a great trip through Texas and got to meet Rob Painless who put us up at his RV park and took us out for a great breakfast! Rob also introduced us to Waylon Jenning's brother Jerry and his wife Hellen. Jerry and Hellen gave us a tour of their Waylon museum at Waymore's and shared some great stories. Thank you for the hospitality brother!!!

At our stop in Houston, my son got to spend some time with his best friend. Unfortunately, we were not able to get together with the other creators we tried to meet. We got in on a Monday night, and Tuesday and Wednesday were tough days to get a meet up together. Maybe next time!!! Can't wait to get out there and meet some more great YouTubers and R-Syndicate members in the spring!!!

Got to spend a few days in Arizona with my son. We spent some time with Back Country Preps, AZ Off Grid, and Detroit Preppin’ came out as well. During our time there, we got to see the Grand Canyon for the first time, and saw some of the clearest skies with the brightest stars I’ve ever seen. Oh yeah, and played with some cowboy guns!!!

The first leg of my tour was to Colorado Springs, to pick up my son who just got out of the military. During my stay, I got a chance to meet with Mike, a long-time fellow-commentor on John (the Prepared Mind), Von (Back Country Preps), and Caz (4th Dimension) pages. We spent a great afternoon, together, and he brought me the “official first drink” bottle of Pendleton Canadian Whiskey! Stay tuned for the second leg of the tour in Arizona!!

In order to avoid messing up my rear springs (like I did on my F-350) and make towing my 1994 Damon Escaper 5th wheel camper more pleasant, I installed AirLift Ultimate 5000+ air bags and the WirelessOne air compressor system, before my cross country trip to Colorado. The installation was straight forward and took about 3-hours for the airbags (as stated by AirLift). The WirelessOne system, however, took a bit longer than the 1-2 hours stated. This is the first time I have done this, and I'm not an automotive electronics expert, so I can't fault AirLift. If you are having this done by a mechanic or trailer shop, 3-5 hours sounds more than enough. The installation went extremely well, and I did not run into any problems. Once I put the fuse in, it worked!!! Hope this is informative, helpful, and a little entertaining. Leave questions in the comments, and I will do my best to answer them! Thanks for watching!!!

After 10 years and 200,000 miles, the F-350 started having problems while towing my big trailers. I have been putting this off for 2-years, but it was finally time to pull the trigger and upgrade the truck. I got a very good deal on a 2019 F-450 Platinum. A few months ago, the dealers weren't budging on prices, but now that the 2020's are coming out later this month, they're trying to get the 2019's off the lot. I was hoping to find another blue one, but the choices were limited to Black, Red, or White if I wanted to go way out of the area. The PowerStroke 6.7L has an amazing amount of power. Now, I just need to put 1,000 miles on it in the next 3 weeks before I head out to Colorado with the 5th wheel camper to pick up my son!

We had a big storm roll through the Shitcago area last night, and it filled up the "dry" retention pond behind the shop. My son and his buddies decided it would be fun to get a couple of old jet-skis running that my buddy left when he moved to NC. After fixing a fuel problem on the Kawasaki, and a bunch of beers later, they got the Kawasaki TS running and took it for a spin around the pond. The Yamaha was not as fortunate. After pumping the hull out, they found that some of the wires were rotted from being filled with water for a number of years. They were super excited to get even one running. We had a great night !!!

Roger Henderson, aka Detroit Preppin, is officially running for a seat in the US House of Representatives in the 14th District of Michigan! He is running as an independent. Today I received a notice from Ebay that they had removed 7 product listings I have had up for over a year. The items were muzzle brakes/flash supressors/compensators that could be used with .22/.22LR/5.56/.223 cal. rifles and pistols. They said they were removed because they could be used with what they consider to be "assault weapons". I'm calling this the Walmart effect. Get on the phone, write letters, and email these companies and tell them that you are unhappy about their business practices. Boycott them, or cut back on using them whenever possible if a full boycott is not possible. The only thing they understand is some pain in the pocketbook. Also, help get people like Roger Henderson elected so that our voices get heard throughout government!!!

Since it is Labor Day weekend, I decided to do some more labor! This is just a quick video to show you the cedar planks I added to the walls to cover up the factory white wall covering. In addition to looking great, it also makes it smell real nice, adds some sound insulation, keeps bugs away, and gives it a nice cabin feel.

On July 5th, my son and I made an impromptu road trip to Fort Knox, KY, to visit my other son who is temporarily stationed there. We got to take the 1994 Damon Escaper Bug-Out Camper / Trailer on it's maiden voyage since making all the upgrades and improvements over the last year+. It performed extraordinarily well!!! Ride quality, tow ability, and road noise were all greatly improved. I think she's ready for my trip to Colorado later this year!!!

I can’t ever remember a time in northern Illinois, where I had to pull over because it was raining too hard for the F350!!! I had to pull over because I couldn’t see past the front of my hood!!! WTF???!!!

As it usually goes, one thing leads to another... When I did the suspension, wheel, and tire upgrade last week, I had to hook up and un-hook the camper multiple times. The trailer had been sitting all winter, and I did not check the water level in the batteries (my bad), so they were extremely low on water and the batteries were dead and would not take a charge. Spoiled by maintenance-free car batteries for all these years. I did some research this week and decided to go with a 4 x 6V true deep cycle golf cart battery system instead of the 12v marine battery setup that was in there. I went with Interstate GC2 / GC-2 batteries from Costco. Great capacity at a great price. They do require some regular maintenance, but for the price, I get a lot of bang for the buck. Hope you enjoy the video and learn something that might help you! If you have questions, leave them in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them!

A while back, I lifted my 1994 31' Damon Escaper 5th Wheel Camper 6" by doing an axle flip, so that it would fit over my 2009 Ford F350 and not run extremely nose high. Since then, I have been concerned about the strength of the suspension and tires because of the extra stresses this puts on all of these components. I am finally checking off a few to-do things on this project by adding Mor/Ryde CRE3000 Leaf Spring Equalizers, a Mor/Ryde Heavy-Duty Shackle Kit, boxing and gusseting the leaf spring hangers, and upgrading the wheels and tires with 3,200# Raceline Defender 935B wheels wrapped in TransEagle All-Steel ST Radial 12-ply trailer tires that carry a 121/117 Load Rating (F Load Range), with a speed rating of M (81mph). I explain all this in the video. Hope you enjoy it!

I built a Silver Slide a while back using Neodymium N52 magnets. It is used to help identify if a .999 Silver Coin or Round is genuine. This is not a fool-proof definitive method of determining a coin's authenticity, but it a quick way to eliminate a whole bunch of fake coins. This method uses the diamagnetic effect created when passing electrically conductive materials over a strong magnetic field. In order to determine a coin's authenticity, there are chemical, weight, and other methods that should be used. NEVER buy "genuine" silver on places like eBay. Always deal with a reputable dealer that specializes in bullion, coins, and precious metals.

While going through some sites today, a commenter asked "if in a SHTF scenario, would you use a fake silver coin and pass it off as real if the person taking it didn't know any better?" I address that in this video as well.

After looking for a good solution for mounting my iPad to a tripod, and finding nothing at a reasonable price, I decided to design and build my own. I machined this iPad / Tablet stand out of aluminum, and powder coated it. Watch as I take you through the process!

I do not receive any compensation for the products I use and mention in my videos. I mention them because they are good products I have purchased and would recommend to anyone. The powder coating system I mentioned in the video is a SpectraCoat system I purchased from www.PowderBuyThePound.com . The powder I used was their Durable Wet Red powder (Polyester TGIC). I have been using these products for years, and they are just a great company to deal with!

Last time I used this trailer, the rear right wheel was covered in black grease and the brakes were not working properly. This video shows how I changed the electric drum brakes, gives some helpful tips, and shows some other modifications I made to it. Now it's ready to go and pick up my son from college!

This is how we replaced the bed floor in my son's 2005 F-350. It took two very long weekends and a few nights after work (not to mention a lot of beers and pizza), but the end result was well worth it. We replaced the 18ga corrugated floor with a 12ga piece of steel, and cut out and patched a couple other areas that were compromised by rust.
