People are limited. And because we are limited, the perspective, experience, and knowledge of atheists are insufficient to know that God does not exist or that He could not perform the miracles of Scripture. To deny the possibility of the biblical miracles one would need to know that God does not exist, requiring complete knowledge of everything in the universe and beyond. Indeed, one would need God’s omniscience to know that God does not exist. Therefore, atheists cannot know that God does not exist and they cannot possibly know that the biblical miracles are impossible. God can do anything. Thus, atheists presume to know what they cannot possibly know, a leap of irrational, blind faith. And they should know better. With the exception of moral evil, Scripture says that all created things so display God's existence, genius, power, and goodness that unbelief is without excuse.

God created, sustains, and owns all things. He owes us nothing, while we owe God all love, honor, and obedience. We depend on God for life, breath, knowledge of His infinite excellence, and how we should live. Apart from God we have nothing; and as Jesus said, “apart from Me you can do nothing.” Knowledge of God as the source of all things, including eternal life through Jesus Christ, has profound implications for a proper Christian worldview, how we know and understand His infinite excellence, how we live life, and where we spend eternity.

God can do anything and nothing can limit His infinite power. Miracles are easy for God, as He is unlimited by the laws and properties of the universe He created and sustains. And as God can form a baby in the womb and create and sustain the universe from nothing, so He can easily put Jonah in a fish and perform any of the miracles recorded in the Bible. All of life and the universe display the infinite genius and power of God and give clear, comprehensive, and sufficient evidence for the truth of the miracles of Scripture. Nothing is impossible with God, and we cannot possibly know otherwise.

Without beginning or end, God created and sustains all things. Apart from God nothing could exist. God as the creator and sustainer of all things forms the basis of all that exists and can be known. Therefore, we depend on God for all things, while apart from God we have nothing. Life, science, reason, and beauty are only possible because God designed, created, and sustains all things. Since God created all time, matter and energy, the biblical miracles are reasonable and easy for God. Natural laws are merely how God upholds the universe; He is not limited by “natural laws.” Time and random chance produce no laws, and cannot reasonably account for the design and complexity of life and the world. Evolution is unreasonable and an impossible explanation of life and the universe, while the biblical worldview easily explains it all.

The God of Scripture has infinite power and created all things from nothing. He is not limited by natural laws or any of the properties of that which He created. Therefore, the biblical miracle of Jonah in a whale or big fish is reasonable and cannot be said to be unscientific. Such a miracle is far more reasonable than a big bang or big explosion producing the beautiful and complex design of everything in the universe. Given the infinite power of God to create and sustain all things, Jonah in a whale is far more reasonable than the hypothesis that all of the beauty, design, and order in the universe came from time and chance.

In the New Testament of the Bible, Romans 1:18 and following tell us the evidence for God's existence is clear, compelling, and comprehensive, that all people know God by what He has created, and that God has made His existence, power, and divine nature known to all people such that unbelief is without excuse. The evidence for God’s existence and nature is obvious and known by all people intuitively and immediately, but suppressed and denied because God as the supreme authority and sovereign Lord of the universe opposes the unbeliever’s presumption of their own ultimate authority and independence from God. God as Lord over all means that we are not free to live any way we desire without facing the consequences of God’s judgment for our sin. People deny God’s existence because they do not like the implications of God’s righteous authority, not because they lack evidence.
