I get a fancy scale that doesn't act as fancy as it should. I also take a break from outdoor #running for a round against an old nemesis, the #treadmill. I dive into some pros and cons of both types of training as I try to up my weekly miles for the #marathon.

I have my first test results after a month of taking #creatine. I also make a potentially painful monetary #weight-loss bet with a friend. Things are starting to move as I am one month closer to my #marathon date.

I start taking a vitamin D supplement and try a new protein powder that takes me back to my childhood. The main focus is how a random athlete boosted me up when I was feeling beaten down. #encouragement #weightloss #running

I saw Argyle opening weekend. Critics have already raked it over the coals giving it a 35% positive rating. How can the director that brought us The King's Men churn out a dud? I go to the theater and make up my own mind and see further evidence that critics are out of touch with real people.

It's the end of January and I have encountered some problems with being middle aged. A visit to the doctor uncovers what's wrong. #marathon #weightloss

This 1980s gem is a dark, dark comedy filled with spite and cynicism. It only made back a third of its budget in its theatrical run but has since developed a cult following. Check out the "anti-John Hughes" teen comedy, Heahters!

The holidays interrupt the diet progress but I have good news on the issue of finding a gym.

Warrior is a 2011 movie about a family struggling to heal old wounds amidst a winner take all Mixed Martial Arts tournament. A mixture of cool fights and powerhouse performances from the entire cast makes this film a criminally underrated sports movie.

An original song that I recorded called "Fight Like Hell". Guess what it is inspired by. Two guitar tracks, bass, effects, and programmed drums.

In 2015, Guy Richie released an action-adventure, spy thriller based on a 1960s TV series. Despite a great cast, fun script, and talented director, the film lost money for the studio. Here's why The Man From U.N.C.L.E. deserves another chance...

John Carpenter is a master of horror, but he has a Lovecraft-inspired film that not nearly enough people have seen. In The Mouth of Madness is a movie that viewers should watch cold as to not spoil the surprises in store. For fans of Lovecraft, this is a must watch!

My brother and film school grad, Chris, suggested the movie Men directed by Alex Garland. This horror film may be the most polarizing film I have covered.

The Beast is a movie about an isolated Soviet tank crew in Afghanistan during the 1980s invasion. When originally released, it only grossed $161,000 despite developing a respected reputation later. It is a tense, suspenseful look at "Russia's Vietnam".

Devil's Due Movie Review covers a Hulu Exclusive called Boss Level, an action comedy involving a time loop. This definitely a fun movie that needs more eyeballs on it.

After a close call with bad weather, I pick up a weather preparedness kit. I quickly walk through the features and explain some of the benefits.

Eton American Red Cross FRX3+ Weather Radio
Eton American Red Cross Clip-On Flashlight with hand-crank
Eton Solar Lantern with 8 piece first aid kit

On a trip to El Paso, we visit an Amusement Park, a mountain trail, and a roadside Pistachio attraction. My father and my kids accompany me up Franklin Mountain on a windy day.

My two sons and I put together a chicken coop and get three chickens. This is the beginning of our family trying to be more self-sufficient. I will be posting updates as we add more chickens or branch out into other projects of self-reliance.

Devil's Due Movie Review took a suggestion from a friend and looked into the 2004 movie Spartan directed by David Mamet and starring Val Kilmer. The movie barely made half its budget back despite having a low budget to begin with. Special guest Charlie is not the first person to gush about this movie to me. So it's time to give Spartan its due.

Pretentious James is talked into the Paqui One Chip Challenge while co-workers watch. How hot is it? Will he die? Join us to see the hottest chip ever.

Devil's Due Movie Review looks at a financial failure "Bringing Out The Dead". The movie covers a few days in the life of a burned out paramedic. My little brother joins me as an avid defender of the film for a special family episode.

I completed the tough mudder in Missouri in May of 2021. Hear my recap and some footage from the race course.
