There is more to be said here concerning the circumcision faction which was in fact another gospel. It was a perversion of the Law (Torah) and in effect had set up Law as Idol and Savior contrary to its purpose.
The members of this sect as did the scribes and pharisees elevated their tradition (which entailed a perversion of a Torah commandment) above the revelation of Christ's atonement - a new and living way through the Word made flesh.
Instead, they sought to boast in the flesh and become the 'guardians of salvation' or the department of immigration and naturalization for salvation overseeing the making of citizens of the Kingdom with their ritual of proselytization -- to be saved, you must become an Israelite their way. (cf. I Cor. 7:17-24; II Cor. 3)
This was a serious error and required refutation. The Law is holy, just, and good. The Law is spiritual. The Law must be used Lawfully. The Law itself is not salvific; the LORD who saves (Yeshua) IS. All who would be saved must enter in through the gate of the sheep, unless they are thieves and robbers. -- Amen and amen.
What happened to the fear of the LORD? How is it many take His word so lightly today that they put up with teaching that blatantly disregards the clear texts of scripture?! .. And yet they affirm themselves to be His followers. Are they not DECEIVED, DESPISERS OF THE LORD'S WORD?! FOR IN ELEVATING THEIR TEACHINGS ABOVE THE SCRIPTURES THEY HAVE SUBVERTED AND NOT SUBMITTED THEMSELVES TO HIS WORD!

This is part of the unbiblical understanding of the nature of the atonement as penal substitution. PSA (Penal Substitutionary Atonement) is not the gospel, but anathema.
The nature of the atonement is not a substitutionary payment of a debt, but the declaration and revelation of God's loving-justice and forgiveness made available to all who in solidarity identify with that loving-justice and likewise condemn sin 'in their own flesh' , take up their crosses, living unto Him -- the spotless lamb, who purchased us in His own blood, that we might be set free of the dominion of sin and death and stand before Him, Holy and blameless in love to receive the promise of eternal life.
Also, being His body; that is, His hands and feet continuing the redemptive mission of seeking and saving the lost and calling all to believe and obey that gospel of reconciliation and ransom from our captivity provided by our great God, our loving and righteous King and Redeemer.
Test everything, hold fast that which is good. Refute error and false teaching.. Establish yourself and others in sound doctrine; In this, you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Although, he holds to what he calls a moderate Calvinism .. If he had followed this self refuting logic to it's end, he would also abandon the penal substitution atonement error as unbiblical.
God's justice is loving justice and not the exacting of penalty due him. It is real forgiveness, deliverance, and cleansing and a restoration to life. How can this be legally?
God in Christ overcomes evil with good. He fulfills all righteousness by entering into creation, the Son of Man conquered sin, death, and the devil. Demonstrated both the measure of His love and esteem for His Holy Law in condemning sin in the body of His very flesh on the cross pouring out His life's blood for our ransom.
In this, the dominion of sin, death, and the devil are broken and He may provide a provisional amnesty upon all who will believe and receive this great salvation. Providing His Holy Spirit in His body to continue His redemptive work in those who are His.
These too, carrying their crosses. See! -- He died not in their place, but for their sakes.
The atonement is a rescue and ransom .. God absorbed the cost, paid the price to redeem all from captivity. That in His grace He would make a way for loving justice and forgiveness.
That is the way by which He Himself is both just and the justifier, the reconciled and the reconciler, the self sacrificial offerer/offering and the receiver of the sacrifice.
In this, there is no violation or contradiction of His Holiness/Justice and His Love. It is of Grace that both Love and Righteousness have kissed. Hallelujah!
How do we receive it? Repent and believe .. Walk after Him, in the obedience of faith.. A child of the kingdom. They who endure to the end will receive the crown of Life.
The Law of God in Messiah, by grace is written on fleshly tables of the heart that we might keep it. This is the proper and biblical understanding of both.
I count Norman Geisler as a brother in the LORD whose fruits follow him as he went on to be with our King and Redeemer this past 2019 at the full age of 87.

Hallelujah! Death is swallowed up in victory.
Hugo Grotius (17th century) restores a Biblical emphasis (the courtroom, legal emphasis is the sole focus today) of the atonement doctrine of the faith once delivered. Contra Gustaf Aulen later (20th century) who reveals with the classic doctrine of the atonement in the early church (for it's first 1,000+ years) - to be called Christus Victor, in this victory a full and complete doctrine is expounded that includes deliverance from the bondage of condemnation.
The classic view reveals the cross as.. God in Christ's expression of righteousness and love.. In it, God reveals the extent of His love (laying down his life as a ransom for all), His Holiness and Justice (in condemning sin in his flesh), magnified his esteem for His Law, and rising from death -- He destroyed the dominion of sin, death, and the devil and brought life back to man.
This provisional amnesty is made available to all mankind. Whosoever will, repent and believe the gospel and abide in Him will inherit the promise of eternal life. The Classic position is the complete picture. This is the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and our righteous sovereign, our great God, King and redeemer. How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?!
I affirm the Biblical Classic doctrine of the atonement which articulates a complete picture according to the scriptures.. What is called today the governmental view - is already entailed in the Gospel of the Kingdom and already present in the atonement doctrine of the primitive church unearthed and brought back into full view by Gustaf Aulen (1930) and called Christus Victor. This is the full Biblical doctrine of the atonement and not a theory on equal footing with later developments.
Don't mix these up (PSA, Abelard, etc.) as all being atonement theories and having equal credibility. That's progressive and post-modern nonsense. There is a faith once delivered. If the body of Christ did not understand the atonement, they did not understand salvation. This is completely unbiblical and absurd. Be rooted and grounded in Biblical truth and not blown about as a leaf in the wind.
Penal Substitution Atonement or PSA presents another "JC" not Jesus Christ but John Calvin and another gospel -- which is not good news but anathema.

This is a good historical presentation. However, I would disagree with his anachronistic reading of the word "easter" back in time. (With all its irrelevant baggage) -- The word had no meaning to them whatsoever.
"The disputants in the Quartodeciman controversy did not use “Easter” to describe what they were arguing over. Therefore, to describe the Quartodeciman controversy as a Passover-Easter controversy can obscure the nature of the dispute rather than clarify it."
Timeline ---
136 CE the Final Jewish Revolt is ended and the rift between "Jewish" believers and believers from the nations is widened and solidified amonst many
155 CE dialog between Polycarp and Anticetus -- Gives us the example of Christian Unity and Liberty since the temple is now destroyed and Pesach/Pascha is being kept in a 'memorial' sense. No one is keeping a literal Pesach according to the scriptures. If they were, all MUST be circumcised in the flesh to do so.
195 CE the heated controversy between the elder of Ephesus, Polycrates and the elder of Rome, Victor as Rome leads the charge in widening the schism in Christ's body and revealing himself just as the Jewish Religious Authorities did -- in truth, as enemies of the cross of Christ.
325 CE Constantine decrees the proper observance of the Pascha and separation from all things "Jewish" abandoning the very root from which the observance came and issuing stern civil penalties. Since now doctrianity was the order of the day and the Church enforced her dogmas by means of the arm of the state.

I would also say that the anti "Jewish" things sentiment is present as a driver of his speculations.
He is mistaken because I humbly believe that he does not understand the fuller historical context. I would highly recommend reading the following for a greater historical understanding of primitive Christianity:
