As we’ve seen over the last few months freedom of speech has taken a worrying turn, we’re living in a world where even a joke can be taken out of context and now a teenage girl has been convicted of a crime for doing something that 90% of the teenagers in the world do and copy and paste rap lyrics to pay tribute to someone they know.
We are becoming a nation of crybabies and whiners and all of this hate speech and freedom of speech suppression is only going to hurt us in the long run discord conversation and honest debate is what we need not prison sentences and find for people doing something as meaningless as making a YouTube video or reposting the lyrics of a well-known rapper.
may remember the Charlie Gard gross injustice, in which U.K. courts both ordered a terminally ill baby’s life support discontinued and refused to allow his parents to take the baby to a U.S. doctor who hoped he might be able to extend the boy’s life. Eventually, the U.S. doctor said it was too late, and the parents permitted the life support to be withdrawn.
Now, in the Baby Alfie case — about which I have written here before — the same travesty is unfolding: Only this time, the hospital demands the baby’s death despite there being no diagnosis as to the cause of his neurological malady. From the BBC story:
A hospital trust prevented a 19-month-old with a mystery illness being transferred to Italy in a row over life-support treatment, a court heard.
Doctors at Liverpool’s Alder Hey Children’s Hospital believe it is in Alfie Evans’ best interests to stop “mechanical ventilation”.
His parents, Tom Evans and Kate James, disagree and want him to be moved to a hospital in Rome.
Mr Justice Hayden said no decisions would be made until the New Year.
The hospital described Alfie as being in a “semi-vegetative state”.
I guess that means minimally conscious. But whether conscious or unconscious, it is unconscionable that a hospital would both want to terminate efficacious-life extending treatment and prevent the parents from transferring the baby to a hospital willing to continue care.

Yet in her six years as home secretary she was the high priestess of hostile environments for immigrants. But the prime minister and Tory MPs and advisers have been falling over themselves on social media to appear shocked and to abhor what has been happening. It is a roll call of the shameless and brazenly amnesiac.

What the hell is going on with London??
Neighbors rallied around the scrappy old-timer facing murder charges for killing a home intruder, saying he was simply defending himself when he allegedly stabbed the much younger man, according to reports.
Richard Osborn-Brooks, 78, was arrested on suspicion of murder charges after encountering two burglars who broke into his home around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday in Hither Green in southeast London.
Adam Lake, who lives nearby, said the old-timer was “just protecting himself.”
“He doesn’t deserve to be punished for defending himself, and the neighbors that I’ve spoken to all agree that the priority needs to be to support him after everything that he’s been through,” Lake told SkyNews.
Another neighbor, who didn’t want to be named, said Osborn-Brooks “deserves a medal.”
“You cannot break into people’s houses,” the woman said. “This is a pensioner that has worked all his life who wants to live and die quietly.”

Last month was a worrying time for free speech in fact the whole of this year has seen some worrying trends and it shows no sign of stopping, but in the UK it seems to be now illegal to think and have an opinion with a hate crime incidents rising. And context is thrown out of the window to suit the prosecutions narrative in most cases. we need to repeal the hate crime and hate speech laws within our country and start all over again please sign the petition within this comment section if you feel offended by these laws.

It's been six months since the #MeToo movement first took off. For half a year now we've had a regular drip-feed of stories drawing attention to the apparent suffering of women at the hands of men. So when this weekend's Sunday Mirror revealed the shocking abuse experienced by hundreds of women and girls in Telford we might have expected the outrage to find a new focus. The news that girls, some as young as 11, were drugged, beaten and raped by gangs of mainly Muslim, Asian-heritage men could have provided further fuel to campaigners. We might have expected shows of solidarity, reminders of the importance of believing the victim, and offers of financial support.
But no. The abuse in Telford is estimated to have involved over 1,000 girls stretching over 40 years. Young girls in the town were groomed, fed drugs and raped. They were passed between abusers like commodities. Some got pregnant, had abortions and were raped again on multiple occasions. Three women were murdered and two others died in tragedies linked to the abuse. Yet these shocking events have received relatively little coverage. Girls in Telford do not, it seems, deserve frontpage coverage in the Guardian or The Times.
