Rod Blagojevich After Commutation: ‘I’m a Trumpocrat’

Rod Blagojevich effusively praised President Trump on Wednesday after returning home from federal prison the day before. Trump commuted the former Illinois governor’s 14-year prison sentence for corruption.

“President Trump is a man who is tough and outspoken, but he also has a kind heart. And this is an act of kindness and I believe it’s the beginning of a process that — to actually turn an injustice into a justice,” he said.

Blagojevich, a Democrat, served eight years in prison after being caught on tape for trying to sell a Senate seat to the highest bidder. He was convicted of 18 crimes total, including attempted extortion from campaign contributors, corrupt solicitation of funds, wire fraud, and lying to federal investigators.

Rod Blagojevich Dishes Dirt on Barack Obama, Warns of More Bombshells

Convicted former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich went on Fox News in his first post-release interview and held very little back about Barack Obama's involvement in the scandal that put him in prison, while the first black president was never held accountable.

Appearing on "Watters' World" with Jesse Watters, Blagojevich was quickly asked about the 2008 Senate-seat-for-sale scandal, in which Blagojevich had negotiated appointing an Obama-approved candidate, in exchange for a cabinet position.

Neil Young pens open letter to President Trump: "Our first black president was a better man than you are"

Neil Young is not mincing words when it comes to President Donald Trump. The singer wrote an open letter to Mr. Trump, posted on his website, and with the first sentence, it's apparent this is far from a love note: "You are a disgrace to my country," Young writes.

"Bragging about the U.S. economy does not disguise the fact that the numbers today are what you inherited almost 4 years ago," Young continues, referring to Mr. Trump's recent spat over President Obama's role in the financial recovery.

UK drivers spend £180 million replacing lost car keys

Some motorists spend 14 hours a year looking for misplaced keys.

British motorists have spent more than £180 million replacing misplaced car keys, according to a new study.

Research by the RAC found that 43 percent of drivers – the equivalent of about 16 million motorists – are regularly misplacing their keys, although most find them after a few minutes of searching.

According to the RAC, absent-minded drivers have spent an average of more than two minutes a day searching for keys. In total, that’s almost 14 hours per driver per year.

Trudeau's Spending Priorities Send Too Many Tax Dollars Overseas

$4.3 billion spent outside of the country will buy you a lot of thanks from some organizations such as the UN or from climate change conferences. That type of spending will also earn you a lot of selfies to up your political profile. But in the end it is our taxpayers footing the bill.

Canada's Trudeau seeks to rescue faltering U.N. bid on Africa trip

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau leaves for Africa on Thursday to revive what diplomats say is a faltering bid for a rotating seat on the United Nations Security Council.

Failure to win would be embarrassing for the Liberal Party leader. He came to power in November 2015 promising that “Canada is back” after nine years of a Conservative administration that was often suspicious of the world body and failed to win a council seat in 2010.

“The bid is not going well,” said a diplomatic source with direct knowledge of Canada’s campaign. The source requested anonymity given the sensitivity of the situation.

Canada, Ireland and Norway are vying for two seats that open up in 2021-2022. Voting will be held on June 17.

Trudeau Liberals Spending More Taxpayer Dollars On UN Security Council Bid

They’re hiring ‘trainers’ for Canadian officials at the United Nations – even before they know who wins the seat.

The Trudeau Liberals are spending even more of our taxpayer dollars on the worthless bid for a UN Security Council seat.

According to the CP, the government is going to award a contract valued at $120,000, to hire ‘trainers’ for Canadian personnel at the UN.

The idea is to “address thematic and country priorities of interest to Canada in its preparation for a seat on the council.”

The contract is being awarded to the Security Council Report, an American organization.

Notably, it appears the contract is totally jumping the gun, since Norway and Ireland are also vying for the seat.

California bill would ban stays at Trump hotels for state employees

State lawmakers in California are considering a bill that would prohibit state agencies from spending taxpayer money at any of the hotels owned by President Trump or his family.

The proposal, which was introduced by Democratic state Assemblyman Evan Low, would bar employees of any state agency from spending money at a Trump hotel while traveling for work.

“Public officials, at any level, should not profit off the constituents that they were elected to serve and represent,” Low said in a statement. “No branch of government is above the Constitution, and this legislation will ensure that California taxpayers are not further exploited by Donald Trump’s violations of the emoluments clause.”

Scheer says pipeline protests 'illegal;' Trudeau won't tell police what to do

Amid pressure to end Indigenous protest blockades of vital Canadian rail links, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the disruptions must be resolved through dialogue, not by ordering in the police.

Trudeau acknowledged the difficulties the blockades have caused for travellers and businesses, but he made it clear Friday the federal government had no plans to make the RCMP dismantle them.

“We are not the kind of country where politicians get to tell the police what to do in operational matters,” Trudeau said in Munich, Germany, where he was attending a global security conference.

“We are a country that recognizes the right to protest, but we are a country of the rule of law. And we will ensure that everything is done to resolve this through dialogue and constructive outcomes.”

Andrew Scheer ramps up calls to use police to end the Wet’suwet’en protests

Andrew Scheer is ratcheting up pressure on the federal Liberals to stop the Wet’suwet’en solidarity protests — disrupting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s calls for calm dialogue and sharply defining the Conservative party’s stance on Indigenous reconciliation.

Scheer has faced criticism for comments last week that Indigenous protesters and their allies need to “check their privilege” and end demonstrations that have ground rail transport to a halt in parts of the country.

Huawei not owned by its Employees, State Ownership likely: Research Paper

In the past couple of years, Huawei has been under scrutiny, especially regarding its possible ties with the Chinese Government. The company has dodged these claims so far by repeating that it “is a private company wholly owned by its employees,” with an “Employee Shareholding Scheme that involves 96,768 employee shareholders.”

The research paper throws light on the fact that 100% of Huawei is owned by a holding company called Huawei Investment and Holding. Ren Zhengfei, founder and CEO of Huawei actually owns only about 1.14% of this holding company, while the remaining ~99% is owned by an entity called ‘trade union committee’.

WTF this is all Trudeau can offer on the blockades, perhaps he should have gone to Barbados

Perhaps Prime Minister Justin Trudeau should have gone to Barbados after all. At least then he could’ve gotten fresh photo ops, a few more promises of support for Canada’s vain quest for a UN Security Council seat and maybe even a tan.

But the Prime Minister decided to cancel his trip at the last minute, belatedly recognizing matters of urgent concern here in Canada.

Euthanasia is more than just legal in Canada. It has become a government-guaranteed right.

Sign the petition: Hospice Organizations Must NOT be Forced to do Euthanasia (Link).

But how to guarantee that the legally qualified who want to die are made dead? Unless the government establishes killing centers out of Soylent Green, it will have to coerce doctors into doing the killing — as has been done in Ontario. And, it will have to force medical facilities into allowing euthanasia on premises, whether their administators like it or not.

Gun crime in London increases by 42%

Gun crime offences in London surged by 42% in the last year, according to official statistics.

The Met Police's figures showed there were 2,544 gun crime offences from April 2016 to April 2017 compared to 1,793 offences from 2015 until 2016.

Knife crime also increased by 24% with 12,074 recorded offences from 2016 to 2017.

The Met said although crime rates were rising they remained at a much lower level than five years ago.

Gun crime highest for a decade for four police forces

Gun crime in four English counties was at its highest for a decade in 2017-18.

West Yorkshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Cheshire police handled more incidents than in any year since 2007-08.

Overall gun crime in England and Wales is lower than 10 years ago, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

More than one in five victims of firearms offences, excluding air weapons, was aged under 20.

Police believe that firearms crimes in some areas are linked to "county lines", where gangs move drug-dealing operations outside big cities to smaller towns.

San Jose Homeless Encampment Grows Next To Homes Along Highway 101 Ramp

A homeless encampment along a San Jose freeway on-ramp that was swept away in February has sprung up again larger than ever, with homeowners just on the other side of a wall fearing for their safety.

The encampment is on Caltrans property off of Story Rd. next to U.S. Highway 101 just south of Interstate Highway 280.

It appears to be growing by the day and it’s estimated there are more than 200 people living at the site, right next to a mobile home community. Residents say they are fed up with the trash, drugs and fear of fires that could spark at any time.

Basically, the "Do as i say, not as i do" crowd of wealthy elitists who have the best ideas on how regular Janes and Joes can sacrifice their comforts and conveniences to help alleviate the sufferings and ills of the world while they dismiss themselves from the very things they demand of the public.

For example.

They'll tell us to ride bikes or use public transportation to get to work to conserve energy while they get taxied around in limos and private jets.

They'll tell us to use solar powered energy in our homes and air dry our laundry while they live in huge mansions that use more electricity in one month than the average household uses a year.

Trudeau and deficits

Former Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin supported the Trudeau government’s proclivity for deficits, being a good Liberal and this an election year(1993).. He is also aware of the danger presented by endless deficits and mounting debt.
Here are some numbers to consider. Canada’s net debt as of 2017-18 was $758.8 billion with a $26 BILLION interest charge. A finance department report shows federal deficits until 2040-41.

A 2014 version of a financial report under the Stephen Harper government projected decades of consecutive surpluses. The Trudeau government wasn’t elected in 2015 on a platform that included deficits and debt as far as the eye can see. This is short-term gain for long-term pain that saddles future generations with the risk and the fallout.

Is Canada's party discipline the strictest in the world? Experts say yes

Part of Reinventing Parliament, a series examining how to make Parliament relevant again. With thanks to www.samaracanada.com

It's not just a partisan rant from those who are dissatisfied with the current state of politics. Experts say Canada's government really is more controlling and less tolerant of dissent than most other democracies in the free world.

Almost all discourse in the Canadian Parliament is scripted by party staffers. Questions posed of the government rarely meet straight answers. Politicians vote as their party leaders dictate nearly 100 per cent of the time. Few private members' initiatives get past first reading.

Do other countries do democracy better? The answer seems to be yes – if you subscribe to the belief that MPs should be free to speak their minds and to act as the voice of their constituents.

Middle class prosperity minister says Canada can't measure who is in the middle class

Canada has no official way of measuring who is and isn't a member of the middle class, Minister of Middle Class Prosperity Mona Fortier said Monday.

Conservative MP Pat Kelly asked Fortier in the House of Commons to provide the number and percentage of individuals who she considers to belong to the middle class.

"The income required to attain a middle-class lifestyle can vary greatly based on Canadians’ specific situation," Fortier replied.

"Canada has no official statistical measure of what constitutes the middle class."

Since her cabinet position as minister of middle class prosperity and associate minister of finance was announced, Fortier has been dogged with questions about she defines the middle class. However, speaking on CTV Power Play shortly after being appointed to cabinet in November, she could not do so.

"There's no unique definition for middle class," she told host Joyce Napier.

Canada needs new political system

Our voting system weakens Canada’s cohesion. It artificially amplifies the regional concentration of political party support at the federal level. With 50% of the vote in a given province, a federal party could end up taking almost all the seats. But with 20% of the vote, it may end up not winning any seats at all. This is how Ontario appeared more Liberal than it really was, Alberta more Reform-Conservative, Quebec more Bloc, etc.I do not see why we should maintain a voting system that makes our major parties appear less national and our regions more politically opposed than they really are. I no longer want a voting system that gives the impression that certain parties have given up on Quebec, or on the West. On the contrary, the whole spectrum of parties, from Greens to Conservatives, must embrace all the regions of Canada. In each region, they must covet and be able to obtain seats proportionate to their actual support. This is the main reason why I recommend replacing our voting system. The issue now is to come up with an alternative.

Harald "Bluetooth" Gormsson

He was the son of King Gorm the Old and of Thyra Dannebod. Harald ruled as king of Denmark from c. 958 – c. 986. Harald introduced Christianity to Denmark and consolidated his rule over most of Jutland and Zealand. Harald's rule as king of Norway following the assassination of King Harald Greycloak of Norway was more tenuous, most likely lasting for no more than a few years in the 970s. Some sources say his son Sweyn Forkbeard forcibly deposed him from his Danish throne before his death.

Virginia to Outlaw Kickboxing, Tai Chi, Firearms Instruction and Self-defense Training

The State of Virginia is proposing a new 2020 law known as SB64 (see link here) which will be taken up by the Senate beginning January 8, 2020.

The law would instantly transform all martial arts instructors into criminal felons. This includes instructors who teach kickboxing, BJJ, Krav Maga, boxing and even Capoeira.

It would also criminalize all firearms training classes, including concealed carry classes.

It would even criminalize a father teaching his own son how to use a hunting rifle.

Specifically, the law says that a person “is guilty of unlawful paramilitary activity” (a class 5 felony) if that person:

Erin O'Toole distances himself from MacKay and Scheer as leadership campaign kicks off at Calgary rally

In response to an audience member's question, O'Toole said he would march in a Pride parade. 'There are no albatrosses in my Conservative party'

In a speech before Conservative faithful in Calgary Monday evening, just hours after he kicked off his campaign to lead the party, Erin O’Toole tried to paint himself as the candidate who is neither Peter MacKay or Andrew Scheer, imploring the crowd to back him as the man who could lead the party back into power in Ottawa.

Held at a luxurious and exclusive private club in downtown Calgary, in his speech, O’Toole rattled off several ideas baked into the conservative canon: a strong military, opposition to the carbon tax, nostalgia for the years when Stephen Harper was prime minister and a distaste for the policies of Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government.

“People are losing their jobs. People are losing their homes. People are losing hope,” said O’Toole. “And what have we been doing? Fighting amongst ourselves, at times, instead of taking the fight where we need to — to defeating Justin Trudeau.”

After New Hampshire it's clear: Joe Biden's campaign is on life support

With so much opportunity, and frankly so much fear, Democrats are shopping around for their best bet to beat the biggest bozo
The first is that Joe Biden’s campaign is on life support. Not so long ago, this was Biden’s contest to lose. After two crushing defeats, there’s no doubt about the prognosis: the former vice-president is fading fast.

Back in 2008 and 2016, Hillary Clinton ran two versions of the argument that voters wanted a mix of experience and change: of looking back and looking forward. That argument failed among Democrats the first time, and won the national popular vote the second time around by a large margin.

Conservative vs. Liberal Beliefs

We all want the same things in life. We want freedom; we want the chance for prosperity; we want as few people suffering as possible; we want healthy children; we want to have crime-free streets. The argument is how to achieve them…
Liberals believe in government action to achieve equal opportunity and equality for all. It is the duty of the government to alleviate social ills and to protect civil liberties and individual and human rights. Believe the role of the government should be to guarantee that no one is in need. Liberal policies generally emphasize the need for the government to solve problems.

Conservatives believe in personal responsibility, limited government, free markets, individual liberty, traditional American values and a strong national defense. Believe the role of government should be to provide people the freedom necessary to pursue their own goals. Conservative policies generally emphasize empowerment of the individual to solve problems.

Federal Budgets are Meaningless

Reactions to presidential budget proposals generally run along predictable party lines: the party occupying the White House lauds it as a sober and responsible reflection of the nation's priorities, while the opposition party insists it will kill babies and bring about the general downfall of the nation. We might expect this political grandstanding to grow more intense in the Trump era, and so it has: the administration's new 2019 budget proposal has been met with howls of disapproval from many corners.

But they are not true. Trump's budget, like all presidential budgets, is a meaningless document full of trial balloons that serve current political purposes rather than determining future spending priorities. Budgets have no bearing on future actions by Congress or the president, they don't change substantive law in any area, and they don't create deterministic deficits in the future. They are political documents, and should be understood as such.

Justin Trudeau projected to be the largest debt accumulator in Canada’s history: Fraser Institute

Excluding Prime Ministers who served during a world war or a major economic downturn, Justin Trudeau is projected to go down as the biggest debt accumulating Prime Minister Canada has ever seen.

A new report from the Fraser Institute detailing federal spending by Prime Ministers shows that Justin Trudeau is projected to raise the federal debt per person by 5.6% by the end of his first term. Sir Mackenzie Bowell and Sir John Abbott are the only other Prime Ministers to have increased the federal debt without facing an economic downturn or global conflict.

Be your own first responder

It does not matter if you live in the city, suburbs, or completely out in the country, you are your first responder.

Just because you are in a nice comfortable town does not mean that resources can reach you in time to be of major help. In the event of SHTF, resources are going to be tied up with those that have more severe problems. You may also be unable to get help because someone that has more money or power than you need that help too. If something serious goes down, you may be absolutely on your own for an indefinite period. Another danger is that even when you do get care, it may not be at the same level you would expect from a licensed doctor.

Donald Trump is CLEARED: President celebrates with a cocky meme

Donald Trump was acquitted on the two articles of impeachment against him on Wednesday, bringing a four-month fractious trial and inquiry to a close.

The final outcome was an almost certainty in the Republican-controlled Senate where it would have taken a two-thirds majority to remove him from office.

The president took to Twitter to respond, re-upping a video from June of last year that showed Trump winning election after election, ending up as president forever. The final slide in it reads: '‘Trump4Eva.'

He also said he'd make a statement from the White House on Thursday.

'I will be making a public statement tomorrow at 12:00pm from the @WhiteHouse to discuss our Country’s VICTORY on the Impeachment Hoax!,' he tweeted.

And White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham put on a statement slamming the ‘sham impeachment attempt concocted by Democrats.’

Speaker Nancy Pelosi had had enough last night. President Trump delivered an excellent State of the Union. He touted the blue-collar comeback, the great American comeback. Unemployment is at historic lows across the board, seven million new jobs have been created, and small business and consumer confidence have reached their highest levels in years. Apparently, these facts are just too much for Nancy Pelosi to handle. That, and they hate America; Democrats remained seated for the vast majority of the speech. They hate this man. And that hatred was manifested with Pelosi ripping up the speech as soon as the president concluded his remarks.

Democrats’ behavior at the State of the Union was embarrassing

It gives me no pleasure to say this, but the Democrats' behavior at the State of the Union was embarrassing.

I take a back seat to nobody in decrying President Trump's cynical and divisive performance. He repeatedly exploited Americans' divisions on race, guns, God, immigration — anything to distract from the broken promises, vulgarity and worse that define his presidency.

But the Democrats, with their childish protests, took the bait. Symbolic dissent is fine, but this was a cacophony of causes: black clothing (for #MeToo), kente ties and sashes (because of Trump's Africa insult), butterfly stickers (for the "dreamers"), red buttons (for a victim of racial crime) and the more bipartisan purple ribbons (for the opioid epidemic).

Why the Democrats Have Gone Insane

Impeach! Impeach, they say! If only he were Buckingham, they would take off his head as well. Trump has become the Democrats' version of Richard III, if he wasn't already. (Okay, he was.)

They even moved to open an impeachment "inquiry" (whatever that means -- a little bit chicken, if you ask me -- they've been doing it for the last three years anyway) after Trump announced he was making his phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky public Wednesday in unredacted form

Professors are brainwashing students

An ex-Communist Romania-born academic recently left his tenured position at Columbia University because the Ivy League school is “on its way toward full blown communism.”

The latest study of American campuses shows that nearly 40% of the colleges surveyed did not have one professor on their faculty who identified as a Conservative. Yet, some still say Socialist indoctrination of classroom politics is a right-wing fabrication?

Liberals promise to prohibit semi-automatic assault rifles, allow cities to ban handguns

Buyback program for quarter-million weapons could cost up to $600 million
Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau says a re-elected Liberal government would ban semi-automatic assault weapons and enable municipalities to restrict or prohibit handguns.

Trudeau made the announcement in Toronto's Greektown, the site of a deadly gun rampage last summer.

Faisal Hussain walked through the Danforth neighbourhood on July 22, 2018, shooting at people on the street, on patios and in restaurants.

He killed 10-year-old Julianna Kozis and 18-year-old Reese Fallon. Thirteen others were injured. Hussain, 29, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head after a gunfight with police.

Yukon man DESTROYS Trudeau’s gun control narrative

Twitter user Yukon Strong, 40-year-old hunting guide, photographer and IT manager DJ Sumanik, has recently been on a mission to destroy Justin Trudeau’s anti-gun narrative, and has done so in just two minutes.

In a two-minute video, Yukon Strong uses numbers from Statistics Canada on handguns, and “military-style semi-automatics,” a loosely defined term.

The breakdown of weapons used in a homicide clearly shows that handguns are the most used weapons for murders, despite being tightly regulated and federally registered because the majority of gun crime is committed with illegal guns smuggled in from America, which was hammered home by Winnipeg Const. Rob Carver who called the ban “nonsense”.

Trump derangement syndrome has reached new heights

n a moment of exasperation and desperation, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., ripped up President Trump’s State of the Union speech as he concluded his remarks. She said, “because it was a courteous thing to do considering the alternative. It was such a dirty speech.” Dirty?

Democrats couldn’t bother to stand or put their hands together to recognize record-breaking unemployment numbers, economic achievements for minorities, rising wages, a strong United States military, a man fighting cancer, or mourning families whose loved ones were killed.

The Democrats’ actions on the floor of the House of Representatives were so obvious, contrived, and predictable. Trump derangement syndrome has reached new heights.

More signs you might have Trump Derangement Syndrome

This is the second edition of how to tell if you might have Trump Derangement Syndrome:

You may suffer from TDS if you:

• agree with the liberal law professor who had to cross to the other side of the street to walk past a Trump hotel

• cheer when Biden says he’ll refuse to testify before Congress, but think Trump should be impeached for exercising executive privilege

• do not know who Candace Owens is

• support sanctuary cities, but think 2nd amendment sanctuaries are illegal

• want to see Trump’s tax returns from when he was a private citizen, rather than those of the lifetime members of Congress who have somehow become multi-millionaires

MAGA-ritas on the menu as Wildwood plays to Trump rally crowd

Eric Hanson had a difficult question to answer last week, “How many filet mignons do you order for 10,000 people?”

Hanson, the manager at Blue Water Grille Restaurant and Bar at the Bolero Resort in Wildwood, settled on 10 cases, or 240 steaks, and after Monday night, he had already sold 100 of them. And 100 salmon.

He doubled his liquor order. And the staff came up with some cleverly named drinks. The MAGArita, Subponea Colada, Impeachment Punch, Moscow Mueller, Russian Collusion -- and then there’s The Sanders, “you buy the drink and we give it to someone who doesn’t have one,” the menu says.

How Jean Paré Taught Canada to Cook

Six years later, Gail Lovig still vividly remembers the sunny fall afternoon her mom taught her how to make pie crust. Lovig laid out the required tools and ingredients in her kitchen in Fanny Bay, British Columbia, while her mother—who happens to be Jean Paré, of Company’s Coming cookbook fame—was perched on a stool nearby, a glass of white wine in hand. When she was ready, Lovig looked over at her mother and said, “Okay, tell me what to do.”

Trudeau “Christians are the worst part of Canadian society”

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau brought more than 30,000 refugees to Canada over the last year and half , mostly refugees who fled war torn countries like Syria.

Most of those refugees were Muslims, some reports say 99 percent of refugees that came to Canada were Muslim.

Why didn’t Trudeau bring Christian or Jew refugees to Canada who fled rape, beatings and many more sufferings, Trudeau seems to hate Christians, he says: “Christians are the worst part of Canadian society”

Justin Trudeau and the Dismantling of Canadian Identity

Thus far in his tenure, Trudeau has been far more explicit about what he does not want for Canada than he has been regarding the kind of nation he envisions for our future.

One thing he does not want, as publicly stated shortly after taking office, is a Canada based upon "national identity." This bold assertion, in effect, tells us Trudeau does not believe in a Canada defined by a national heritage developed over 148 years of history. From Canada's early pioneer settlers, to our cultural roots as an English and French Canadian society, through to the struggle for an identity independent of American cultural domination — Justin Trudeau has deemed these symbols of our nationhood to be irrelevant.

What's in a name: Indian, Native, Aboriginal or Indigenous?

The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) has been joined by Anishinabek of Ontario, representing 42 First Nations, in rejecting the name "Aboriginal."

The AMC, which passed a resolution not to deal with organizations that use the name "Aboriginal" a couple years back, might want to inform the Anishinabek that the term Aboriginal hasn't been easy to shed.

It's an English word, and it's not what they call themselves. Most people assume the word Aboriginal means "the first inhabitants" or "from the beginning."

But the root meaning of the word "ab" is a Latin prefix that means "away from" or "not." And so Aboriginal can mean "not original."

Trudeau hands MasterCard a gift of your money

Forget the corporate welfare for Canadian Tire’s electric car chargers or the $12 million Justin Trudeau gave Loblaws to help them buy fridges.

We’ve got a new champion for companies pigging out at the taxpayer trough: MasterCard.

Meat tax may be next

For years, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has advocated for a tax on meat to sway people toward adopting a vegan diet. When the concept cropped up in the media again recently, I wanted to know how seriously we should take this new push. Probably more seriously than you might think at first.

I spoke with BC Cattlemen’s Association general manager Kevin Boon, who said the latest round of media stories stemmed from a December essay by the Farm Animal Investment Risk and Return (FAIRR) – a $2.3 trillion dollar investor network that he says represents the interests of crop producers.

Money began to rain on Trudeau Foundation once Justin took over Liberals, analysis shows

A National Post analysis of the Trudeau Foundation’s public disclosures has found that gifts to the foundation have increased significantly since Justin Trudeau’s April 2013 election as leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. Moreover, a significant proportion of the charity’s donors, directors and members have ties to companies and organizations that are actively lobbying the federal government.

Conservative MP Candice Bergen Considering Leadership Run

That would be great news for the Conservative Party.
Conservative MP Candice Bergen, one of the most effective communicators in the Conservative Caucus, is considering a bid for the leadership of the party.

According to a National Post report, “Manitoba MP Candice Bergen is seriously looking at launching her own bid for the Conservative leadership, a change of heart that comes after three high-profile candidates decided last week not to run.”

The report indicates that “after Jean Charest, Rona Ambrose and Pierre Poilievre all announced over the past week that they would not be entering the race, Bergen changed her mind and is gauging support, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation. The decisions of Ambrose and Poilievre in particular caused Bergen to take another look.

“The field just became very small very quickly,” said the source, who would only speak on condition they weren’t named. “Circumstances have changed.” The source said Bergen has not yet made a final decision.”

The National Post indicates Bergen said she didn’t want to comment, when reached by phone.

Canada’s French-English bilingualism is bad policy — and worse politics

What was initially expected to be a diverse and dynamic race for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada is proving anything but. The number of interested candidates seems to be shrinking by the day.

As I’ve discussed previously, structural barriers play a significant role in keeping the Conservative bench so spare. The de facto rule that any person seeking the leadership of a Canadian political party — and thus the prime ministership — must be fluent in English and French is proving a particularly visible glass ceiling this time around. Some rare but useful public pushback on the role of bilingualism in Canadian politics has been the result.

The inherent problems with government funding media

The Canada Periodical Fund gives “grants” worth $75 million a year to “print magazines, non-daily newspapers and digital periodicals,” while the Canadian Media Fund proudly boasts it hands out $352 million annually, although a lot of that has nothing to do with news coverage.

And then, of course, there is the CBC, the 800-pound gorilla of sucking off the public teat.

Dershowitz: Even if Bolton Article True, ‘Quid Pro Quo’ Is Not Impeachable

Harvard Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz told the Senate impeachment trial Monday evening that even if allegations attributed to former National Security Advisor John Bolton were true, they would not be impeachable conduct.

The Times reported that Bolton had written a draft book in which he said President Donald Trump told him he wanted to condition aid to Ukraine on investigations of “Democrats.”

Dershowitz said, however, that the “quid pro quo” alleged was not impeachable. He argued that impeachment was designed to be used for “criminal-like conduct akin to treason and bribery,” not for vague criteria like the “abuse of power,” which were subjective, and similar to the “maladministration” that the Framers specifically ruled out as a basis for impeachment.

Pelosi Moves To Protect Iran From Trump With New War Powers Resolution

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced that the same House Of Representatives that just delivered two articles of impeachment against the POTUS would act to restrain his ability to respond to Iranian retaliation against Americans.

Via The Hill, "Pelosi: House to vote on resolution limiting Trump's actions against Iran":

The House will vote on a resolution limiting President Trump’s military actions toward Iran following his decision to launch a drone strike that killed a top Iranian commander, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Sunday.

Pelosi told Democratic members in a letter that the House will introduce a vote on a “War Powers Resolution” mandating that the administration's military hostilities with regard to Iran would cease within 30 days if no further congressional action is taken.

UNDRIP says First Nations can say no to development. But we also need to be able to say yes

Last month a new milestone in Canada’s journey to reconciliation was achieved with the introduction of Bill 41 in the B.C. legislature. The bill requires B.C.’s government to bring its laws into line with the provisions of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). This legislation will provide another tool for First Nations to ensure they are adequately consulted and engaged in resource development projects and share in their benefits.

I believe the intent of this legislation is noble and I support, in particular, the sentiment expressed in a joint statement by B.C.’s Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, B.C. First Nations leaders and MLAs: “It is time we recognize and safeguard Indigenous peoples’ human rights, so that we may finally move away from conflict, drawn-out court cases and uncertainty, and move forward with collaboration and respect … we will create more certainty and opportunity for Indigenous peoples, B.C. businesses, communities and families everywhere.”

How to Defund the U.N.

We ignored the foreign objections and persisted because that abominable resolution cast a stain of illegitimacy and anti-Semitism on the U.N. It paid off. On Dec. 16, 1991, the General Assembly rescinded the offensive language.

Now, a quarter-century later, the U.N. has come close to repeating Resolution 3379’s original sin. Last week the U.N. showed its true colors with a 128-9 vote condemning President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

This seemingly lopsided outcome obscured a significant victory and major opportunity for the president. Thirty-five countries abstained, and 21 didn’t vote at all. Days earlier the Security Council had endorsed similar language, 14-1, defeated only by the U.S. veto.

The UN is totally a useless organization. It was formed in the aftermath of WW2 , in order to maintain peace within all the nations. However, it has today become a spineless organization, with no say whatsoever.

The UN has become one of the most inefficient organizations. Even after 73 years after its existence, the UN has failed to end the world’s gravest concerns. Let us look at some of the issues UN has overlooked.

How Venezuela went from the richest economy in South America to the brink of financial ruin

Soaring crime, hyperinflation, food shortages... Established democracies are not supposed to implode like this. How did post-Chavez Venezuela go from the richest economy in South America to the brink of social and financial ruin?
Venezuela, by the numbers, resembles a country hit by civil war. Its economy, once Latin America’s richest, is estimated to have shrunk by 10 per cent last year – worse even than Syria’s. GDP shrank by 19 per cent. The South American country also has the world’s worst inflation at more than 700 per cent (nearly double that of second-ranked South Sudan), rendering its currency almost worthless. In a country with the world’s largest proven oil reserves, food has grown so scarce that three in four citizens report involuntary weight loss, averaging 19 pounds in a year.

Colleges are turning young people socialist in a few ways

Who’s afraid of socialism? College students certainly aren’t. In fact, a new poll reveals 70% of millennials are likely to vote for a socialist candidate.

Socialism as an economic system, on the other hand, has a mixed reputation. Capitalism is more popular among older generations and half of Gen Z and millennial types still view capitalism favorably. But neither one of the dueling economic systems holds a majority on college campuses, and the rise in popularity of democratic socialists such as Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez among young voters is hardly reassuring.

This poll reveals a few things: Young adults are hesitant to support socialist policies, likely because they don’t know how they’d work or what they’d cost. But given the right candidate, they could easily be convinced to join the cause.

Don’t be fooled by Bernie Sanders — he’s a diehard communist

But he’s not even a socialist. He’s a communist.

Mainstreaming Sanders requires whitewashing his radical pro-communist past. It won’t be easy to do.

If Sanders were vying for a Cabinet post, he’d never pass an FBI background check. There’d be too many subversive red flags popping up in his file. He was a communist collaborator during the height of the Cold War.

History Has Shown That Socialism Isn't the Cure

Multiple forms of socialism, from hard Stalinism to European redistribution, continue to fail.
Russia and China are still struggling with the legacy of genocidal communism. Eastern Europe still suffers after decades of Soviet-imposed socialist chaos.

Cuba, Nicaragua, North Korea and Venezuela are unfree, poor and failed states. Baathism -- a synonym for pan-Arabic socialism -- ruined the postwar Middle East.

The soft-socialist European Union countries are stagnant and mostly dependent on the U.S. military for their protection.

In contrast, current American deregulation, tax cuts and incentives, and record energy production have given the United States the strongest economy in the world.

MPs’ self-approved $2,300 salary increase is ‘self-serving’ says taxpayers’ group

While salary increases for parliamentarians are determined by a federal law, a secretive multi-party committee of MPs that oversees the House of Commons administration can decline a pay raise, and move to freeze their salaries through legislation.

With the Board of Internal Economy’s approval though, MPs will take home a base salary of $172,700 this year, up from $170,400 last year.

Pension and severance payments released for Canada's defeated or retired MPs

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation has released its calculations of estimated pension and severance payments paid to the 94 Members of Parliament who were either defeated or did not seek re-election in the Oct. 21 election.

Eleven of the 94 MPs leaving are from B.C.

Liberal candidate for Cloverdale-Langley City John Aidag, who was elected in 2015 and unseated by Conservative Tamara Jansen, will receive $95,000 in severance for his four years as an MP, but no pension.
NDP candidate for Skeena-Bulkley Valley Nathan Cullen, who served 15 years as MP but resigned this year, will receive $89,000 in severance and an annual pension of $82,000, or a lifetime pension of $4.1 million.

Ex-senator's widow, 27, set to receive millions in pension

Former Liberal senator Rod Zimmer died Tuesday at 73, but his pension lives on. His controversial wife, Maygan Sensenberger, will collect $19,700 a year for the rest of her life, according to the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. Considering she’s only 27, that could mean millions to Canadian taxpayers.

Zimmer was long known as an athlete, fundraiser and corporate executive but he was most recently famous for his young wife and her legal troubles.

In 2012, Sensenberger was charged with causing a disturbance on a flight, for which she received a suspended sentence.

ACLU Wants to Put Tampons in Men’s Bathrooms For ‘Menstrual Equity’

t looks like The American Civil Liberties Union wants menstrual equality, and they want it now! ACLU is calling for men’s restrooms to include tampons in order to prevent any discrimination against “every person who menstruates.” Through a statement, the organization stated, “While free menstrual products are not uniformly provided in women’s restrooms, they are almost never available in men’s restrooms, even for pay.”

They also noted that men’s restrooms are less likely to have a place to dispose of the product privately, conveniently and hygienically. The group argued that it wasn’t a “full or accurate portrayal” to say that women are the only people who get pregnant, breastfeed, or menstruate. They added, “menstrual stigma and period poverty can hit trans and non-binary people particularly hard.”

Cuomo won’t let all judges officiate weddings — because some were appointed by Trump

So much for reaching across the aisle.

Gov. Cuomo just vetoed a bill that would have allowed all federal judges to officiate at weddings in New York — saying he can’t stomach the idea that even some of the jurists might be President Trump appointees.

“I cannot in good conscience support legislation that would authorize such actions by federal judges who are appointed by this federal administration,” Cuomo said in a statement Friday as he shot down the bill — which was passed overwhelmingly by the Democratic-controlled state legislature.

Jack Wilson, Texas Church Shooting Hero: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Jack Wilson, the security volunteer who quickly shot and killed the Texas church shooter at West Freeway Church of Christ, likely saving many lives, is a former reserve deputy sheriff who was the long-time owner of a firearms training academy.

“I don’t feel like I killed an individual. I killed evil,” Wilson told reporters, according to Fox4 News. “I don’t see myself as a hero. I see myself as doing what needed to be done to take out the evil threat.” He fired a single shot. It was a head shot, and he says it was his round that killed the shooter. “I only fired one round. It was the only shot I had, which was a head shot.”

How the Conservatives' leadership rules could limit the field this time

The rules for entry in 2017 weren't particularly demanding. They required candidates to drum up $100,000 and 300 signatures from members in good standing — and gave them nearly a year to do it.

Not this time.

To be considered "verified candidates" in 2020, contestants will need to submit $300,000 to the party, including a $100,000 refundable compliance deposit. Candidates also will need to find 3,000 signatures from members living across the country. And they need to do it all by March 25 in order to get on the ballot for the June 27 vote.

That's a tight deadline — so tight that most of 2017's candidates wouldn't have made the cut.

Surgical objects left in patients on the rise in Canada, data shows

More than 550 objects have been unintentionally left in Canadian medical and surgery patients between 2016 and 2018, and the problem appears to be getting worse.

A new report released Thursday by the Canadian Institute for Health Information says 553 foreign items -- such as sponges and medical instruments -- were left behind over that two-year period.

That's a 14 per cent increase between the most recent data collected 2017-2018 and statistics collected five years earlier.

It's also more than two times the average rate of 12 reporting countries, including Sweden, the Netherlands and Norway, which had the next highest rates.

The information was examined as part of a broad look at how Canada's health-care system compares to other member nations of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

Man Sentenced to 16 Years in Prison for Burning an LGBTQ Flag

An incredible story out of Iowa, where an Ames man was sentenced to 16 years in prison for burning an LGBTQ rainbow flag.

Adolfo Martinez stole a gay pride flag flying outside a church and torched it in front of a men's strip club. NBCNews reports he was sentenced "to 15 years for the hate crime of arson and given a year for reckless use of explosives or fire and 30 days for harassment." His sentence was enhanced by the fact that he was a "habitual offender."

It’s Not the Equality Act, It’s the Homosexual Supremacy Act

The first line of the bill (“The “Equality Act”) sounds innocent enough: “To prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation, and for other purposes.”

Leftists in Congress are attempting right now to sell a lethal piece of legislation under this term in the so-called “Equality Act,” which is proposed as a revision and an improvement over Title IX of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

But there is no equality in this bill for anyone who believes that homosexuality is non-normative sexual behavior and something that should not be promoted, subsidized, and celebrated, especially in our schools.

That’s why I call this bill “The Homosexual Supremacy Act,” since it elevates homosexuality and gender confusion above anything and everything else in the moral universe. Everyone will be required to bow the knee before the Baal of Sodom or face punishment.

Carbon Dioxide Fertilization Greening Earth, Study Finds

From a quarter to half of Earth’s vegetated lands has shown significant greening over the last 35 years largely due to rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, according to a new study published in the journal Nature Climate Change on April 25.

An international team of 32 authors from 24 institutions in eight countries led the effort, which involved using satellite data from NASA’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer instruments to help determine the leaf area index, or amount of leaf cover, over the planet’s vegetated regions. The greening represents an increase in leaves on plants and trees equivalent in area to two times the continental United States.

Life Depends on Carbon Dioxide

We need to cut the crap about CO2 and begin to realize that our life and health depend on enough levels of CO2 in the blood and tissues. Carbon dioxide is a nutrient as well as a product of respiration and energy production in the cells and its lack or deficiency is of itself a starting point for different disturbances in the body.

Professor fired for suggesting Iran identify 52 cultural sites in America to bomb

Talk about bombing, Babson College Asheen Phansey claims he was joking when he wrote on Facebook that the “Ayatollah Khomenei should tweet a list of 52 sites of beloved American cultural heritage that he would bomb.” The suggestion was a riff on Donald Trump’s declaration last Saturday that the U.S.had targeted 52 Iranian sites that it would strike in the event Iran attacked Americans or U.S. assets in retaliation for the death of Gen. Qasem Soleimani. Trump quickly recanted his threat.

Meantime someone should send Phansey contact information for George Lopez’s agent. Apart from sharing Lopez’s sense of what constitutes humor, the professor was fired for his knee-slapper. The university said in a statement:

Omar sends out an outrageous tweet about Trump’s properties

Rep. Ilhan Omar suggested Trump’s properties would be a good target for the terrorists in Iran.

Ilhan Omar tweeted —outrageously — that the President was letting his businesses drive his decision to “provoke war.” She also sent out a dog whistle that Iran could threaten Trump’s properties.

Trump needs to immediately divest from his businesses and comply with the emoluments clause. Iran could threaten Trump hotels *worldwide* and he could provoke war over the loss of revenue from skittish guests.

His business interests should not be driving military decisions.

Her entire feed is communistic. For example, she posted this next tweet. As we reported, the group behind this, the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition is a Marxist-Leninist group. She knows full-well who these people are.

We’ve got to put an end to endless wars. Period.pic.twitter.com/v7W4LXihNS

Ilhan Omar – Traitor?

All currently available evidence reveals Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is conspiring with hostile foreign powers against the United States and its interests to overthrow the U.S. government in violation of federal law and the oath she took to protect and defend the Constitution “against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

In addition to Ilhan Omar’s 2013 arrest and her marriage to her brother, as well as her public comments revealing her hatred for Jews and indifference about the 9/11/01 attacks on America by Islamic jihadists, Omar’s seditious and treasonous actions are what causes the gravest concern to Understanding the Threat (UTT), and should be grave concerns to the American people.

Ilhan Omar works closely with the leader of Hamas in the United States doing business as the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) – Nihad Awad.
