We cut away most of the outro animation with the help of a grenade. Testes (using dosbox svn) shows us that the glitch saves about 15 secs on average and is easy to do.
I was hoping to use this glitch in other places within the game, but this was the only place it did any time saving. Can't skip any other outros unfortunately.
