My First Hiking Tent Bummer, Caught in a Surprise Lightning & Thunder Storm

I was caught in a surprise storm with lightning, thunder and rain in the dark. So I had to bail out and head down to my car, down from the peak. Well, it didn’t turn out that smooth and this bummer of an experience is both insightful, embarrassing and once in a lifetime experience of being under and in the middl of heavenly wrath. I recorded this video shortly after so there’s not much bells and whistles in the video besides the story =)

A Father’s Thoughts On A Lasting Relationships & Family Life

What stages are there in a relationship? What awaits and how do I look back on my eleven years with my woman and six years of being parents together? During a hike I came to think about this and wanted to share the process of going from dating to eventually dying together. Sounds harsh? But it’s beautiful! We live in a CULTure where degeneracy, simple minded pleasures and dissolving of love and family life is promoted in the mainstream. However, nature calls us to what is right for us and everyone seeks love and togetherness. What is more divine than a man and a woman? Even more so a family?

Everything Changes

May began so great with hikes and especially a lot of outdoors with my older daughter Florens. At the end of May we were back in Bosnia. For the planned visit this summer but also for the burial of my father who passed away in late May after a long illness. He fell asleep and left this realm in his home, under the same roof with the woman he had shared his life with. She had taken care of him during his illness like a faithful and loving angel. We all met regularly and saw each other often, as a family. The last scene and the last goodbye etched in the memory is of my daughters hugging him and how they looked at each other, with a lingering eye contact in a way only old people and small children can pull off.

My farewell with him took place on the same morning in his home. When the mortuary transport drove off, I couldn’t help to film. This is the final scene for all of us. In the end a black van drives your body away, slowly, getting smaller until it turns a right or left.

Here we are, because our ancestors survived, whatever we may think or care about them. They made someone who made us. We stand here on the earth in this Godly creation. As the relay runner, to give our run in the race that never ends. We are not par excellence from the get go. Maybe when we finally develop something, create something and leave something behind. We will feel and realize that our run with that stick got us somewhere. That it made the runner ahead feel they have something special to run for. Summer has just begun and life will always try to justify itself. No better time than doing that now.

Florens went along with me. I really wanted to give her memories and share some quality time. In a family you want to have time all together, some quality time with each member and it’s not always easy to pull off.

So when an opportunity is given, don’t miss out. This time I wanted to honor life. As a father, I want to have her remember stuff we did, to show her around and connect with her.

It was a gift of quality time together. It seems we stayed longer than we did, but that’s due to the eventful trip. I learned a lot, I really did. Three years ago we visited almost the same places with a baby and Florens was only three year old. Sometimes people say what the point is to travel when you have babies, they will not remember the trips. Well, first of all they will remember the will to explore, the will to do something is important. Also the capability the parents have to fulfill something or reach a destination. That vibe is good indeed.

I want my children to feel they have a dad who’s ready for action and wants to spend time with them. Many things don’t go as planned and much needs to be taken care of on the spot. But by doing so I get better, and my children realize they can be sure we solve whatever that needs to solved.

This year changes everything, speaking about my own reality. A year ago I decided to go along with my bigger plans in life. Now some steps into it, there is no fear or turning back. Nothing stands between us and what we feel is the right way of shaping our life.

When mind’s presence is veiled in black, death takes it to a whole new place.

Revisiting Ravne Park & Healing Labyrinth Tunnels in Visoko 🇧🇦

We revisited the Ravne park and it's labyrinth tunnel complex. Last time was three years with all four of us (https://youtu.be/TaFAMaqXEqU). My daughter loved the experience at the site, with it's monuments, parks and playground. And of course the actual tunnel labyrinth was exciting and a healing experience.

Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun & Ravne Tunnels in Visoko - A Visit on Summer Solstice ☀️🇧🇦

People from all over the world come to this site for various reasons. Some to see the claimed pyramid complex, some to visit the tunnels, many to experience the healing energies and everybody gets something out of it. It’s so close to Sarajevo and it takes half a day to visit the main sites. We went there on our short backpacking trip and here are some scenes. There are a lot of healing sites around the world, that have better water or magnetic anomalies etc which make people feel and get better. There is something similar here too, that’s for sure. But what do you think of the actual pyramid claims? Does it look like nature did it, or man made/artificial? (Originally uploaded on YouTube 23 June 2018)

Mogorjelo, Ancient Roman Ruin in Bosnia & Herzegovina 🇧🇦

A half hour train ride through a beautiful landscape from Mostar to Čapljine, and a fifteen minute walk from there, you will find yourself in an ancient Roman complex. To be more specific, it’s a Roman Villa. What is now ruins used to be a production- and storage complex. With stone foundations and further floors in wood it stood intact until it was burned down in the fifth century. Hence the name means burns a lot, as gorjelo means burned. This was my first visit to the site and I want to share some footage from the site.

Stjepan Grad - Medieval Fort Ruin in Blagaj, Bosnia & Herzegovina 🇧🇦

Get out and getting out as often as we can. We took a hike up to a medieval fort ruin called Stjepan Grad, which is located in Blagaj (Bosnia & Herzegovina). A site high up which has been a location for forts since ancient times, where new ones were built on top of old ones each time. A fine recreational hike and adventurous for children. We saw a big dead lizard, a snake the cutest centipede. After the hike we went to the source of lake Buna (Tekija) to cool ourselves down. I love visiting medieval objects, intact or in ruins. Trip to Västergötland: Gudhem Abbey, Varnhem Church & Ekornavallen (Ancient Megalith)

Late on a Monday we decided to go on a trip and camp for a night in Västergötland. The weather has been bad to say the least but the heavy rain was due to stop and the day after to be quite good. So in with some stuff and off we went. I revisited some sites from before and saw some new ones. We visited Gudhem Abbey Ruins, Varnhem Monastery and ruins and the ancient megalithic site of Ekornavallen. There were other stops on the way and one caught on camera was Floby Military Surplus store. All in all, the weather didn’t stop us and I got to try out some equipment and get in the mood for the summer to come.

Spårvagnsfärd i Göteborg 1911

Underbart tidsdokument för alla Göteborgare att se. Spårvagnsfärden tar oss rätt igenom stadskärnan där vi ser vackra landmärken som tyvärr revs i rivningsondskan som rådde i Sverige en tid. Notera människornas rörelsemönster, deras kläder och själva stämningen i staden. Det är helt annorlunda idag även om många äldre byggnader står kvar. Så självklart infaller sig en slags nostalgi och vemod för det förflutna. 400 år av Göteborg (1621 - 2021).

Wonderful time document for all Gothenburger's to see. The tram journey takes us right through the city core where we see beautiful landmarks that were unfortunately torn in the demolition evil that prevailed in Sweden for a while. Note how people move, what they wear and the atmosphere in the city. It's completely different today, even though many buildings still stand. Of course, a kind of nostalgia and melancholy for the past comes over. 400 years of Gothenburg (1621 - 2021).
