I heard a gunshot last night coming from Room 3. The police showed up, then the coroner. Old Jake had been a banker when he was young, but he started drinking heavily and his wife took the kids and left. Then he lost his job and eventually wound up living at the Crest. I can’t say for sure what happened, but we all sort of know.

The guy in Room 2 was odd. We never could figure out what he was doing, but on a couple nights I swear I heard women screaming. One rule at the Crest was that it was best to not ask questions.
