In our 13th VLog - We do ANOTHER Revamping of our Hen House / Chicken Coop. This is hopefully going to be the last time we have to do any construction in this area. It took a lot of physical labor to get this project done. We had to use the truck to pull the hen house out of the run! We had several FAILS today.. and the weather was pretty bad (dumb wind...) but we never gave up!
By the end of the day, the hen house was out of the run & attached to the fencing, we had a new door for the run, AND we installed a gravity fed food & water system.. Low maintenance FTW!!! Life just got Simpler!

In our 11th VLog - We finish constructing what we are calling "The Green Mile". It is going to be the holding pen for our meat birds before we cull them for their intended purpose. This build we do (again) out of reclaimed materials that we have on our property. While we were at it - Gary decided to get going on another project that we have on our list and build stands for our water barrels. Very soon we will be constructing a Gravity Fed Watering system for our animals to maximize efficiency. The entire time we were building - a storm was right on our tail.

In our 9th Vlog - We share a quick Kitten Update and show you how they're doing now that they are 3 weeks old. We had to give the kitten cage a bit of Redneckinuity to make it bigger now that the kittens are getting bigger and are more active. Did a simple easy fix. Poor Mama kitty Samone wants out so bad, but has to wait until the kittens can eat the dry food.

In our 7th Vlog - We went shopping for feed at Tractor Supply and were pleasantly surprised that they were having their "Chic Days"!
Even though we are currently incubating our own first batch of chickys, we couldn't say no to these sweet lil peepers. So we acted on Impulse and bought a dozen! Good thing we finished the chic house already....

In our 6th Vlog - We build a brooding box / chic house out of old reclaimed materials. We acquired most of the materials from wood from an old shed we tore down, metal from an old trampoline frame, and chicken wire.
We have eggs in our incubator that will be hatching soon.
After they hatch, we will update with a video of this brooding box being put to use.

In this Vlog, Gary installs a new Tankless Hot Water Heater into our home. Although we are striving to become more "self sufficient" and desire to one day going fully "off grid" - We DID tie this system into "the grid". We did this so we could cut out one of our expenses (The MASSIVE Quarterly Propane Bill) and free up extra cash flow, allowing us to stay on our 4yr goal to complete financial freedom (being DEBT FREE WOOWHOO!). This upgrade will actually end up saving us money while we are here, and one day, in the near distant future, We will build our fully Self Sufficient Off Grid home of our dreams out in the mountains. Here's how we managed this upgrade. :D

In our Very 1st VLog - We repurpose old wood and building materials that would have been scraped and thrown out - and turn it into a new Chicken Coop and Run for our birds. We're working and teaching our kids how to make due and improvise and think outside the box. Our Goal is to eventually be fully self sufficient and relying totally on ourselves for our meat and egg consumption (along with other things but we'll save that for another video).
For now all we can do is start where we are. We've got big dreams to have a fuller life through simpler living. We Hope you enjoy seeing how we wing it and pursue Happiness!

We are a family currently living in the NW AZ Desert. We decided to start Vlogging our strides towards a more self sufficient Homesteading lifestyle for our own benefit (to have fun "home movies") and to possibly help others to learn as we learn along the way. We reject a lot of modern "society norms" when it comes to how we view the world and what is important to us. We want to teach our children that life is an adventure - and to live it freely, kindly, & wisely.
