Another one of my little karate pet peeves, the topic of my last Instagram reel, but in a bit more detail.

Not quite my Year of Hell, but it has had its fair share of stresses. I also find myself playing catch-up to the mindset I had in my previous entry.

A more in-depth version of a recent Instagram reel of mine.

Reuploaded, as I forgot to flip all the clips to the correct orientation the first time.

Building good habits is like cultivating a delicate flower, to once again quote James Clear. i brought myself low enough with certain mistakes that i ended up trampling mine, including this one. It's also easy to only show the world your best, but i ignored my own advice from my last video, and let "best condition" put me off.

i resisted it for the longest time, owned by Big Tech as it is - much like why i chose Bitchute over YouTube - but in the end, I had to acknowledge it for the useful tool it is.

Finally beginning to make proper use of my software's resources! i confess, there were times while editing this, when i was so down, that my own voiceovers sounded like they were coming from someone else, but listening to them over and over gradually realigned me to those vibrations. Recording yourself at your best can be an effective remedy for when you're at your worst; it's hard evidence to yourself, of who you can be.

My resignation, birthday, and the new moon at around the same time. From what my hairdresser friend (you are a blessing if you're reading this!) told me, the timing sounded too fortuitous to pass up! i had my doubts about doing this, far more so than any other video thus far; that unhelpful inner voice that says "screw this, it's a waste of time!" being louder than usual this time, but as always, i'm glad i did.

As much as i would prefer to share the YouTube link my aforementioned friend sent me, sadly by the time i tried it, it had been taken down by copyright claim; the elite once more trying to suppress it!

Sometimes, we must give ourselves a kick up the backside to move forward. Yes, i confess the decision mentioned herein is what pushed me to finally finish my karate lessons ad.

My first video of the year, after a six-month hiatus, and i choose to experiment with an unfamiliar format i.e punchy-talky, while shaking off the proverbial cobwebs. Still, it feels good to finally get back into this, especially having set aside the big distraction mentioned therein.

Even the right decision can haunt you, if things don't go according to plan, as happened to me here. Doing what's right and doing what's easy are seldom one and the same.

And so concludes the Pinan series, the youngest of the traditional kata; those that were created with practical self-defence in mind. The next episode will be on the kata from which the Pinan series was extrapolated; Kushanku.

The fourth of five kata created by Anko Itosu, otherwise known as the grandfather of modern karate.

Some people have been surprised when i've said this in person.

The third of five in the Pinan series. Pinan is a Chinese phrase, which roughly translates as "be free from danger" or "be safe from harm".

While labels are necessary, they can easily lead one to believe that the movement in question has only one use, as i explained in a previous video, Too Many Techniques.

In case you're wondering why the slow rear section is in a different place, it's because i somehow forgot to record it at first, and by the time i was able to go back and do so, my chosen spot had overgrown, and i was forced to find a new one. So it's now a question of whether or not i can complete this series before the forest closes off all potential recording spots.

Also, for those who might be wondering why i've done Shodan and Nidan out of order: for the uninitiated, Shodan means "first level", or "first step". Nidan means "second level". Hironori Otsuka, the founder of Wado-ryu, swapped them around because the solo performance of Nidan is simpler, whereas i'm going by application, which is more what the numeric order represents.

Some of you may be concerned about the upcoming Human Rights Act reforms. You needn't be, for that legislation has been null and void since Article 61 came into effect anyway. Knowledge is power. Empower yourselves.

Welcome to the first entry of my kata reference series, where i perform the Wado versions of the basic kata, from start to finish, and from multiple angles, to provide reference material for those who may be learning these themselves.

Double digits!! One must acknowledge and celebrate the little wins in life. Too often, we reserve that for the much rarer, big ones, and can end up not celebrating anything as a result.

i don't necessarily advocate practicing the verbal aspect; you can, but it can get tiring rather quickly, lose its sting with repetition, not to mention risk giving nearby witnesses the mistaken impression that something is actually kicking off.

And what i reference at the end is something learned from my fallen hero: The Training Matrix.

For some reason, i was more hesitant to hit record with the mic than with the camera, probably owing to the risk of interruption, hence why this took longer than i would have liked. i've had footage like this knocking around for months, and now i've found a use for it.

If you are planning to celebrate, then unfortunately, you are celebrating a lie.

How many more jewels/precious metals must this naming convention go through before we end the lie? Please let Platinum be the last.

This took longer than i would have liked, but i've finally done it!

One thing not mentioned in the video is the breaks between exercises; since i'm going for endurance as well as strength, i try to keep them to a minimum, only allowing myself up to 10 seconds in-between (though i don't always manage it). i used to do this after work, but found it more prone to interruption, whereas doing this first thing in the morning, i find consistency is far less of an issue, and that i'm more alert for the day ahead.

Ultimately, you must find what works best for you, and hopefully this will assist in that endeavour.

As with all techniques, one must practice it repeatedly, not only solo, but also against striking targets to become accustomed to the feeling of impact, and training partners in order to get it to work on a resisting opponent/enemy.

We are all sovereign men and women on the land, with the inalienable right to self-defence when threatened with harm, loss or deceit, regardless of where said threats originate.

While Karate, specifically the practical self-defence aspect, may be my primary focus, it's not the only one. So, along with martial arts and Karate "instructionals", for lack of a better term - you can't truly learn them over the internet - i may on occasion, share something of interest in relation to health, and law, though i may keep those to my Minds profile, i'm not entirely sure yet. i seek to empower others to defend themselves from more than just petty thugs which really, are the least of our concerns, in terms of threats to our health, well-being, sovereignty, and even our very lives.

i don't have an upload schedule to speak of yet, largely due to still being in full time employment, and other changes i need to make in my life in order to better it, so my apologies for things going slowly at the moment.

While i created this channel with the intent to cover some serious topics, i do also intent to have fun along the way, because fear is a far greater enemy, for how much more often we have to deal with it, than petty thugs.
