Now, I'm going to put screws in this because I'm going to come back and pull the screws out, put the foam in. I don't want to open up those foam the valley closure until I'm ready to do them all.

The reason is because it just keeps on expanding. It doesn't wait for you a day or two later to come by because then it's just totally huge.

Clay mentioned that, you know, people might get fussy, about when we went to Home Depot, it had a probably 20 right hand, 20 left hands. They were sold out of straight. So I'm not the only one that thinks strikes are a way to go for overall. It's good to have left hand, right hand when you cut corners that direction in a round way.

But more power to you if you can figure out how to do it otherwise.

Hi, I'm Phil Bridges, owner of Straight Arrow Repair. Ever want to know how a repairman fixes things? Well come with me, and I'll show you how I solve problems. Let's make things better together.

Look at here, this is something that Lowe's had a husky brand four in one combo water meter key. It has the keys to stick in here and lift up, turn it and lift it. It has this to pry the edge up and as they have to turn to the actual valve itself.

So let's see how it does. I bought it just to keep behind the seat because I'm always having a hard time finding my water meter. Probably cause I loan them out too much and they don't seem to come back. Now to see if this key- It don't fit like that.

"So, it's push in and twist."

Yep, that's why they got it loose like so and you can pry it up also with this in and then it's stand on my head time it's way over here. Whick it doesn't want to cooperate with, okay you can slide it over to one side. May have to use a pair of channel locks or crescent wrench or something. This ain't going to let me do it.

"You doing it the right way?"

I don't know.

"I don't think you are. Ya, defiantly not."

Well consern this thing.

"Other way. Other way."

You can say that all you want but it don't mean it works. That don't work either way. Guess what? The tool didn't fit. Many times I had to stick my hand in here and it'd be full of water.

"And they wonder where the leak's at."

We actually had one not too long ago that was pumping out five gallons a minute from the city side. Then they told her 'It's not us.'

"They did."

Yeah, they did.

This is Phil Brid

If this was a real long angle, okay? I would do that square piece again and then I would measure from that point to measure up to that mark. But in this case, it's short. So I may actually able to measure across the top and measure up for my length.

That's my mark for on the right-hand side from that point to that point. And then the over, since it's less than 37 inches wide, which is what these panels are.

I'm using straights, because most of the time I'm cutting straight lines. You can use left handed and right handed and cut straight.

The problem with that is that it puts your hand on one side or the other instead of in the middle. I'm right handed. I'm tend to be on the right side, but I can tilt and still cut straight. Whereas if I had right hand or left hand, I won't be able to tilt because I'm already more on that side.

But there will be people argue about that. It's been my experience and I'm just trying to help you understand.

We get a lot of complaints from my less experienced cohorts, that 26 gauge is hard to cut, and it is. But it's good to have a new set of snips. These are Wiss which open a little bit deeper. W-I-S-S, Home Depot sells them. I've been using Wiss for a long time. I've tried other brands, including Craftsman's, so on, so on, so on, Wiss just seems to do better.

I don't like the new lock that they put on them.

Hi, I'm Phil Bridges, owner of Straight Arrow Repair. Ever want to know how a repairman fixes things? Well come with me, and I'll show you how I solve problems. Let's make things better together.

What it needs is more supports in the middle.

But that is not something this woman told me to do. And this is not the only woman that I work for that I do what they say I suggest. And I don't do that very strongly. I just suggest.

Got the lag bolts in where it needs to be jacking it up with these simplex jack and the impact put five inch lag bolts in and it's pretty level work, walks strong. I mean I would like to put more supports on that deck, but... And this one. But I don't do things unless she tells me to. So we've already done above and beyond what she actually asked to do, and that's the end of that little project.

I'm sure there'll be other projects, so I can see several on this house. I think she want me to jack up the inside of the house in the hallway, but she locked the door so I can't get in there. I mean, I can get in there, but I can't get in there legally, not that I'm an illegal type of person.

I can just take the doors off, but she needs to put fascia on there and some drip edge because it's wicking back up to the roof. And I told her it would, a long time ago. If you look on the other side of that porch, you can see how far it's rotting out the OSB on the side. That's why you want to put drip edge on there.

"On that back there?"

Well, it's been such a good. So, see if there's another tool there.

This is Phil Bridges, if you like what you saw and think it might be helpful to somebody else, push that like button and let other people know what you and I know, and we'll work together toward making a brighter future. By the way, we're not Amera-Can'ts, we're Americans. See you next time.

We'll put these lag bolts with the washer on and it's going to be driven by deep impact on electric impact. Now they're making battery powered impacts pretty strong. They were they can take a semi-trailers off, but I don't have anything that expensive. This is electric and you get this at Harbor Freight. So we're going to put this in. We're going to secure one on each side and then one in the middle. And that'll hold it all together, keep it from doing that, hopefully, and it's really what it needs, is more supports in the middle.

But that is not something this woman told me to do.

Hi, I'm Phil Bridges, owner of Straight Arrow Repair. Ever want to know how a repairman fixes things? Well come with me, and I'll show you how I solve problems. Let's make things better together.

Today, that's a simplex jack. What you can do is you can lift heavier things, but it's generally not something I use for multi-ton. It will go to that mechanical jack. You can use the, the longer side and you can use the shorter side. It a, when you want to go up, you pull this little handle right here up, then it goes up both here and here. And it's driven with the gears inside. So we're going up, we're going down now. That's what we're doing today with this.

This is Phil Bridges, if you like what you saw and think it might be helpful to somebody else, push that like button and let other people know what you and I know, and we'll work together toward making a brighter future. By the way, we're not Amera-Can'ts, we're Americans. See you next time.

Dig it out til it's level, where you won't be sitting tilted.

"Okay."

Not that we have that much weight, it's just good habit. And that 2 by 10, or whatever it is, right there beside you can be knocked out. I don't think that's doing anything. Should be able to go on up.

"Yeah."

Keep an eye on it, don't let it move on you. I'll get some three-inch screws. Get it up where it needs to go. Right now. I can't find my three-inch screws.

The screws will hold some, but some 250 lb people walking on that stepping. The thing about people, they're overweight. They say when they start going down steps, they step really hard. I have a place that has like 15 steps down and the bottom steps are the ones that get the most impact.

You sit there and watch them come down. The more comfortable they get with going down that staircase, the more they go omh, omh. The first ones are like, oh got to be careful, use them that way. And that's the bottom ones. And they've literally broke the bottom steps. Those are people that are probably 100 pounds overweight, maybe more. They just relax. Hey I'm going down the steps.

Boom, boom yes, impact one step you can see it.

All right now, we've got a metal coming from there to here. You can't always count on the framing on the sofit and fascia or the roofing to be square.

So you want to try to catch it as you go along. Hey, I'm running out of square. You want to squeeze the top in to get the bottom swing around or squeeze the top? You know, you can do squeeze the top in, lapping it over a little bit more and pull on this side and you'll gain an eighth inch there, an eighth inch down here or even sometimes as much as a quarter.

It's a lot you do a quarter. I'd recommend just do it an eighth at a time so you can get more square as you notice it. That's if you're not doing rake and corner on the fake. On the face of it, in this case, we're not. If you're doing rake and corner then you can get square to begin with.

Hi, I'm Phil Bridges, owner of Straight Arrow Repair. Ever want to know how a repairman fixes things? Well come with me, and I'll show you how I solve problems. Let's make things better together.

And we've made our mark on, on our valley, which it has that ribbon that's in there to make it a valley. And then we go, I need to know what the bottom is.

So I'm going to put a 4 foot level across here. And where that intersection is, is right about a quarter inch, three-eighths of an inch, maybe a half right there. Okay. So then I can take a tape measure.

It's really steep. All right.

Got everything locked in, so don't fall off. Now we're going to measure from this side of because remember, we're lapping and then that half inch from looks about 15. All right. So now we know the bottom is going to go over 15 inches and that's where our angles are going to start. And I'll take you with me now.

I usually have small cut off piece so I can get and I want to use the factory square edge, and what we're going to do is find out where this corner, the outside corner hits on that line and we're going to slide it up with this sitting, you know, solid on that rib to find that square. Just another reason why it's important to be as square as possible.

See how I'm coming down to this four inch mark right here. Right there. And I'm sitting square on that. And then I'm going to mark right there.

Remember, we move from this bottom edge where we're going to lap to, to this mark is how much I got to go up on that side. 28 and a half can remember we were 15 across and then we're going to go 28 and a half up to get our angles. So let's go down there and do that.

This is Phil Bridges, if you like what you saw and think it might be helpful to somebody else, push that like button and let other people know what you and I know, and we'll work together toward making a brighter future. By the way, we're not Amera-Can'ts, we're Americans.

All right. So what we've done is run screws through the rib right here into the one by four about every two feet or more or less. More is not going to be worse.

And then we're going to seal this up here so water doesn't stay in there and leak behind, which is what you want to do to whatever you fastened to seal behind and around on the edge of that metal. So it doesn't leak there.

Hi, I'm Phil Bridges, owner of Straight Arrow Repair. Ever want to know how a repairman fixes things? Well come with me, and I'll show you how I solve problems. Let's make things better together.

Okay, these are balusters. You don't have to use this material. This is something that it's lightweight, not very invasive to look at. But if you choose to, do we get 60 miles an hour winds? The trick is not to be, what is the words? Too high as to catch wind and too low as to block your door. So if you get high, it catches wind, pulls it off, gives a lot of stress, and you have to determine what you can do to keep it lower.

So as the wind will blow on top, push it down anyway, these are inch and half by inch and a half by 42 inches long. Use them for porches and such. And I'm going to cut a 45 with this battery powered. All right, and then I'm going to use three-inch screws with a screw gun.

And it's going to go. Right in to where this rib is. You want to turn that angle where it will fall out on, on the building.

This is Phil Bridges, if you like what you saw and think it might be helpful to somebody else, push that like button and let other people know what you and I know, and we'll work together toward making a brighter future. By the way, we're not Amera-Can'ts, we're Americans. See you next time.

What I use these type of inexpensive awnings for us to keep sun off of the windows. Now, you don't want to be too high up because then the wind will catch it and blow it over. You don't want to be too low, then you're not going to be able to see out of your window.

So there's a happy medium in there, but just a little bit of an angle, knocks off a lot of sun, particularly in the afternoon where you would be putting this awning. It also keeps the water from getting in the bottom of the window or the bottom of the door. Cuts down a lot on that. Driving rain, of course, is going to get in there.

And so this is just a way to do without expending a whole lot of money.

Okay, guys, there's another dilemma that you run into is having to cut the penetrations for the roof. In this case, it doesn't fallout anywhere on. It's going to go right over the top.

What I'm going to do again is to lap over, going to measure to show 4" to 14. Then measured from the top need 13, which I can actually write there, make a mark and 23. That's the area that I'm going to cut it and then I'll show you how I cut. One of the ways that I can cut.

I'm going to tell you something about sealant. before I even show you how I do it.

A lot of people, you've got some really high engineered and expensive silicones that come in tubes and they work, okay. Anything that comes in a tube, is going to shrink and that's why I quit using it. Because I got a ton of leaks and keep going back, because it shrinks after it dries. A little bit here and there. So I don't do that anymore. No matter that companies are encouraging you to buy their thing.

So I'll show you later how I seal it all up.

Hi, I'm Phil Bridges, owner of Straight Arrow Repair. Ever want to know how a repairman fixes things? Well come with me, and I'll show you how I solve problems. Let's make things better together.

We're putting the vent over a hole that was cut. If you noticed the vent is much, the flange is much bigger than the ribs. So, what I do is I get the center of where that rib is going to be might no fall exactly in the center of the vent. And then I cut so that there's a v, and then I can fasten these down. And these on the outside edge when it's close like that I'll let it get mashed down and fold it over.

But I'm going to do it on the top. Also. All right, and then when you fasten, you want to make sure you start in the middle, work your way out. That way. Everything's so I'm spreading myself out. I'm going to go to the top.

You see how that vent, that v that I cut in that vent flange that's around that metal to wrap down around. That way I can seal it all up, and it will have a good tight fit before you can get to sealing it. I don't recommend using a screw gun for a hammer.

This is Phil Bridges, if you like what you saw and think it might be helpful to somebody else, push that like button and let other people know what you and I know, and we'll work together toward making a brighter future. By the way, we're not Amera-Can'ts, we're Americans. See you next time.

Okay, the 13 and the 4". Let's see a 4" and a 14, actually. A four right there, right beside the rib. 14 right there, and then there's a mark right here here, so we can... See the mark is right here. All right, so we have a square here.

All right, so we have a square here, that we're going to cut out. Now, you can get snips and then cut it. But a lot of times it ends up being a real nuisance. Usually I use a sharper screwdriver than this, let's see what happens. Using the hammer.

To drive that edge through. We're hitting that screwdriver. A lot of times it won't go all the way through one side, from one direction. So you go.... There's your hole. So I have four different kinds of cutters at the Shears. I have the dual wheel, that spins different directions. I have nibblers, I have all kinds of cutters. You can use a saw and turn the saw blade backwards.

All of them have a risk of stuff getting in your eye. So this is not an old man. You, me? I'm old now, so you can do this without. Any special tools.

This is Phil Bridges, if you like what you saw and think it might be helpful to somebody else, push that like button and let other people know what you and I know, and we'll work together toward making a brighter future. By the way, we're not Amera-Can'ts, we're Americans. See you next time.

Hi, I'm Phil Bridges, owner of Straight Arrow Repair. Ever want to know how a repairman fixes things? Well come with me, and I'll show you how I solve problems. Let's make things better together.

Hey, good to have you with me. Guess what? I got a little trick that I do. Regular electricians are going to go. Don't do that. We're going to have a junction box, but I'm going to show you a little something. If you want to get a can light where you might not be able to, because it can would be a great big can, and you have a little bitty space.

You can use a retrofit kit so that it goes into the old can like this.

And then you take it. You can either over bend these screws. I mean these springs, but in this case, I can these ones here and just turn it over. Put the... and I lose it right in front of you guys? Turn it upside down, put the screw back in.

Missed the hole. There.

No. Let's look in that electrical bag though.

Then we have this. You're like, wow. What do I do with that? This is a temporary light for a construction site, socket. You can just hook it into romax and hang along. If you didn't it. Some of these have a bigger adapter right here and you wouldn't want to cut that because that acutal transformer that this one has down here, but you could cut this one. Instead, I'm using this socket, which is about $3.

And there we go. And then I just have a hole cut, don't have to have a can just a hole cut big enough to get this through. I lift this part up over and then I've bend this in and put it in and I'll show you that in a minute.

Shove these two up in there. Bending that down underneath. Then taking these two to the middle. I can take it back down if I want something you might consider, see ya.

By the way, these can lights, these LED can lights sure can make a difference. Ta da.

This is Phil Bridges, if you like what you saw and think it might be helpful to somebody else, push that like button and let other people know what you and I know, and we'll work together toward making a brighter future. By the way, we're not Amera-Can'ts, we're Americans. See you next time.

So here we are. We're going to tear out all these cabinets by order of the customer, and we're going to change the location of the stove, probably in the refrigerator to the side for sure. The sink is going to go over here. So we're going to take that sink where it sits in the corner and you have to stare in a corner to wash dishes. To over here where you can look out a window.

Now we're going to go do that and you can watch us. All this stuff that's of any value.

Whenever you're working with these cabinets and you can't find the screws in the bottom or nothing.

There will be some up here above the trim and there'll be some down here, and you can't see them. And you're like, Oh, what do I do? You take a something and pry it, watch out for all the bugs that might come out at you see these screws. Square drive. They're going to come out. Thought I'd let you know in case you ever have to work on your own cabinets. That's what we're doing here. Taking them out.

Now, you got to be careful, because when you look at these cabinets, they look like they're okay. A little bit wear and tear right there. See when the gap is between the two different levels. Okay.

But it's actually pretty soft. Take a look under here. This is all deteriorated. It's all going to fall apart. See how it's all rotted here. These are all things you're going to be looking for if you're going to buy a mobile home. You looking to these places? See if the sink. See how the top is all rotted here, got wet.

This is things you will have to fix if you're buying it. So that's where you want to help you figure out before you go buying something and not knowing how much you're going to spend. There's your support for the drain, has wires to keep it from flopping around.

And getting knocked loose on this. But keep your eye out for these kind of things whenever you're getting ready to buy one yourself. So here we go. We're taking this out.

Well, it got me when I'm tired and sweaty, but there is no wall. There is no more cabinets. All this has been taken out. The way the customer wants it. We're going to end up putting the sink underneath the window and the refrigerator in that
