Swiss Homegarden

Dear friends and viewers,
Join us as we harvest our fall garden vegetables. We are harvesting many varieties of pumpkins and will take a tour or our fall garden.
We are experiencing our fall weather and that is reflected in our garden the most as our seasonal plants reach the end of their life cycle before we transition to winter months.

In this video I will be showing you an easy and fool proof Rose Petal Jam recipe.
For a recipe card visit my blog.
https://swisshomegarden.com/recipes/easy-rose-petal-jam-recipe/
Ingredients
2 cups of tightly packed organically grown washed rose petals ( make sure its clean with no bugs are in it )
2 cups of pectin sugar ( I prefer using this as its easily available to me )
1 1/2 cups of filtered water.
2 to 3 table spoons of freshly pressed lemon juice

Place water and roses in a saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer for 10 minutes.
Add sugar into the saucepan.
Add freshly squeezed lemon juice. You will notice that the color will change..
Continue to simmering and stirring constantly for about 20 minutes.
At this stage you could do the plate test, by dropping a few drops on to a frozen plate and tilt it. If it stops flowing.
Switch off the heat and pout into sterilized jars set on a tea towel.
Leave a little gap and close the jar tightly.
This jams freezes well in case you choose not to can.

Hello friends and viewers,

We will be making 10 Sea buck thorn berry recipes in this video. Sea buck-thorn berries are rich in Vitamin C and other anti oxidants. I have tried to make the most of these berries this year and tried to preserve them in the most natural form with most of my recipes.

The best time to harvest Sea Buck-thorn berries is by mid of September till the first frost sets in, usually around mid of October.
Last year I posted a Jam recipe video and I am just recapping on that too.

Dear Friends & Viewers,
I want to share with you an easy to make your own Lip Balm recipe. I got the recipe from a little magazine for kids here. We substituted coconut oil for jojoba oil.
INGREDIENTS
Cocoa Butter - 2 tablespoons
Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
Bees wax pellets - 2 tablespoons
Lavender essential oils - 25 to 30 drops
Empty lip balm tubes
Pipette for filling
INSTRUCTIONS
Melt all the ingredients and stir often.
Once all the fat has melted, add in the lavender essential oil.
You can use the pipette to fill the empty lip balm tubes. Since my chocolate pot has a an easy pouring lip, I fill in directly into the empty tubes.
Work swiftly to fill the empty tubes, because beeswax will thicken quickly making it difficult to pour.
Let them harden and use. You can set it in the refrigerator for half an hour.

Hello friends and viewers,
https://swisshomegarden.com/blogpost/reasons-why-we-got-big-berkey-water-filter/

I am reviewing Brita, Aquasana, Katadyn and Big Berkey.
With an economic crisis looming over us, its important to secure a good water filteration system. Good drinking water is an investment for good health and well being. We are lucky in Switzerland to have good water, yet I like to use a water filter for many reasons.
