Shore
These are the days
Iโll remember
All my life
Even when
Memories fade
And light turns to shade
Turns to shade
And when Iโm walking
Along the shores of time
I know Iโll sense you
Right there
By my side
By my side
And as the wind
Blows wild
Towards the shore
Your word carried
On the breeze
Will quiet that storm
Quiet that storm
These are the days
Iโll remember
All my life

โShoreโ is a gospel song I wrote in the autumn of 2021. I was reflecting on how a stroll along the shore can be a good time to collect our thoughts, and also how the sea is mentioned quite frequently in the Gospels. This is an imagining of how it might have felt in those days when Jesus walked the earth, but also how He walks with us in these days too.
I didnโt know that I was going to record โshoreโ today, but as I was playing guitar this evening, I felt the urge to play the song again, and as the song began to flow, I thought it would be good to record it for the channel.

River-flowing
River flowing
Where the world end meets
I watched you on that
Stormy night
Just to make things complete
If I had one thousand wishes
Before the break of dawn
Then you and I - we both know
Iโd only need but one
River flowing
Through the tides of time
I canโt think of anywhere
That you donโt roam
In all my journey long
Your music fills my ears
And your unrivalled beauty
Gives meaning to my years
Even when the storm
Is raging on
And it feels like
All hope is gone
Yet still my heart
Can hear your song
River flowing
Just like before
And if I count up all these moments
I would still want more
It matters not
The time of year
Day and night
And warmth or cold
Iโll always find you near

Snowdrops
Itโs only when
The ice forms
Around a heart
Turned so cold
And someone says:
โI told you soโ
Itโs not that I
Even thought
Of all that
Could be
Footsteps in the snow
Remind me
Itโs a never-ending day
Sometimes it is what you make
And when the snow floats down
Iโll still be around
Iโll be around
Snowdrops and crocuses
Will soon be peering through
Until then
This heart
Is still on fire
And roaring
Even if a sword
Would pierce a heart
So full
Of love
I scarce can
Believe it
Iโve been wishing
On that star
My whole life
When itโs dark
Gotta find a reason
Even when itโs freezing
Outside and in
Outside and in
Itโs a never-ending day
Sometimes it is what you make
And when the snow floats down
Iโll still be around
Iโll be around
Iโll be around
Iโll be around
Itโs a never-ending day
A never-ending

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.
The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes.
I love thee, Lord Jesus! look down from the sky,
And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me I pray.
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And take us to heaven to live with thee there.

A shepherdโs Song
Watching the falling snow
Ten more miles to go
I saw that star in the sky
And my heart wondered why
What special night is this
That you should shine so bright
And even as the cold wind bites
I can feel a warmth fill up my heart
A mother and her infant son
What a sight to see
And watching over them with love
A fatherโs heart believes
Angel song fills the skies
As the earth starts to thaw
And dawnโs first light - oh so bright
Streaming through that door
I heard your call in the depths of the night
While the earth was quiet
I couldnโt help but follow that star
And walk into your light
Who am I that you would deign to be
Born where the poor doth tread
And in a stable humbler still
And with a manger for a bed

O come, O come, Emmanuel
O come, O come, Emmanuel,
And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here,
Until the Son of God appear.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
Thine own from Satan's tyranny;
From depths of hell Thy people save,
And give them victory o'er the grave.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, Thou Dayspring, from on high,
And cheer us by Thy drawing nigh;
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
And death's dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, Thou Key of David, come
And open wide our heav'nly home;
Make safe the way that leads on high,
And close the path to misery.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, Adonai, Lord of might,
Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai's height,
In ancient times didst give the law
In cloud and majesty and awe.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

โO Come O Come Emmanuelโ - or the pre-Christmas antiphons as they are also known - date back to the 8th or 9th Century. It is a hauntingly beautiful hymn, and a long-time favourite of mine. I thought this would be a good choice with which to kick off the Advent/Christmas season with here on Syefee.

In the bleak midwinter
In the bleak midwinter
Frosty wind made moan
Earth stood hard as iron
Water like a stone
Snow had fallen
Snow on snow on snow
In the bleak midwinter
Long, long ago
Angels and Arc Angels
May have traveled there
Cherubim and Seraphim
Thronged the air
But only his Mother
In her maiden bliss
Worshiped the beloved
With a kiss
What can I give him?
Poor as I am
If I were a shepherd
I would give a lamb
If I were a wise man
I would do my part
But what I can I give him
Give him my heart
Give him my heart

From Wikipedia:
"O come, O come, Emmanuel" (Latin: "Veni, veni, Emmanuel") is a Christian hymn for Advent and Christmas. The text was originally written in Latin. It is a metrical paraphrase of the O Antiphons, a series of plainchant antiphons attached to the Magnificat at Vespers over the final days before Christmas. The hymn has its origins over 1,200 years ago in monastic life in the 8th or 9th century. Seven days before Christmas Eve monasteries would sing the โO antiphonsโ in anticipation of Christmas Eve when the eighth antiphon, โO Virgo virginumโ (โO Virgin of virginsโ) would be sung before and after Maryโs canticle, the Magnificat (Luke .1:46b-55). The Latin metrical form of the hymn was composed as early as the 12th century.[1]
Lemon Drops
Verse 1:
Cobbled streets
And lemon drops
As the rain hammers down
Once more
Once more
Chorus:
Yet still I find myself
Drifting by
Caught up in memories
But I donโt know why
I donโt know why
Verse 2:
If emotions spoke
As words that fill this page
Caught up like autumn leaves
Blown away in swirls
In swirls

The first upload of โLemon Dropsโ can be viewed here:

โLemon Dropsโ is a song I wrote in 2019 around autumn. It is a song of reminiscence really, although I think there are pear drops and lemon sherbets, but Iโm not sure there are lemon drops. I suppose it is just a way that our memories can play tricks on us, and it is difficult to always sequence events correctly or to recall things entirely accurately. I also wanted to upload this video to my channel on the last day of autumn, meteorologically speaking. God willing, I would like to upload some Christmas themed videos in the next few weeks, and I look forward to catching up with your channels too.
The video quality is somewhat poor, as it was filmed from my laptop for convenience. I tried various filters in Power Director to compensate for this. On the plus side, I think I have finally settled upon a combination of guitar, microphone and amplifier which works for me, but no doubt I will try out different setups. I find this to be the most straightforward arrangement, but I do hope to work on the video quality some more for future uploads.

Blood Rose
Rose and emptiness
Is all the colour that she knows
And it shows
She steps outside a while
To see how her garden grows
And to feel the flow
And when the breeze blows
From across the vale
A fiery glow
Lights up the sky
So close
Blood rose
Fine art and sentiments
On her canvas does she pour
She loves every flaw
And with each brush stroke
Her heart is so clearly seen
Passion to behold

Wild Wind
Verse one:
I ride the wild wind
While she takes the bus
I walk down these empty streets
And my fingers buzz
Oh donโt you know
How it chills my bones
I turn my face
Into the breeze
Chorus:
And I ride the wild wind
I ride the wild wind
And it makes me so cold.
I face the south side
I face the south side
Feel the warmth
Come flooding back again
Verse two:
She takes the hurricane
Puts it in this heart of mine
Steals the wind and waves
Makes me feel sane again
She steals this world of ours
When the sun goes down
Brings it back by the morning sound
And I ride the wild wind
I ride the wild wind
And it makes me so cold.
I face the south side
I face the south side
Feel the warmth
Come flooding back again
Bridge:
And I never ever felt
The wind behind me
Or saw the stars
All shooting past
โTill I saw her
On that bus
As the sunset
Burned to dusk
And the day
Faded away
Faded away

An acoustic rendition of 'Sweet Sacrament Divine', a hymn by Francis Stanfield 1835 - 1914
The image used in the video is a painting by Charles Bosseron Chambers (1882-1964), who was a prominent illustrator and religious artist. He had just attended Mass at Holy Innocents Church in New York, when he noticed a young French soldier kneeling at the foot of a crucifix. He was so moved that he started work on this painting. The cross is located in the northwest corner of the church. It is called the "Return Crucifix" because this soldier, seeking a return to faith, stopped here to say a prayer before he went off to fight in World War I. Ever since, this cross has been the object of devotion for people all over the world.
The image in the thumbnail, is of the original painting of the Divine Mercy, by Eugeniusz Kazimirowski in 1934. It was commissioned by Blessed Fr. Michal Sopocko, St. Faustina Kowalska's spiritual director, to spread the Divine Mercy message.

Put a steadfast spirit within me

A Soldier's Song
They left their youth behind
On country roads
And city streets
In the first blush of summer
Heard the birds sing
Their songs of joy
While they left to fight
On distant shores
On distant shores
And as the sun went down
I thought I heard a motherโs cry:
โLord donโt let him die -
I canโt face the thought
Of life without himโ
Those dreams they had
Scattered like windswept leaves
And crumpled like paper
Etched with ink unfinished
Through the hazy smoke
And boom of distant guns
They heard the battle cry
Gave their all under a teary sky
A teary sky

The Advent/Christmas Sessions 2020: Nick joins me for a song I wrote last Christmas called 'Snowdrops'. This is footage of our performance, which was recorded live. Merry Christmas everyone ๐๐ ๐๐ธ
Snowdrops
Itโs only when
The ice forms
Around a heart
Turned so cold
And someone says:
โI told you soโ
Itโs not that I
Even thought
Of all that
Could be
Footsteps in the snow
Remind me
Itโs a never ending day
Sometimes it is what you make
When the snow floats down
Iโll still be around
Iโll be around
Snowdrops and crocus
Will soon be peeking through
Until then
This heart
Is still on fire
And roaring
Even if a sword
Will pierce a heart
So full
Of love
I scarce can
Believe it
Iโve been wishing
On that star
My whole life
When itโs dark
Gotta find a reason
Even when itโs freezing
Outside and in
Outside and in

The Advent/Christmas Sessions 2020: Nick joins me for a song I wrote last Christmas called 'Snowdrops'. For some reason I could not get the audio to sync with the video (we double recorded the audio, and used the best one), so I found a beautiful video of snowfall from Pixabay to use instead:

This is my original Christmas song for 2020, and it is a collaboration with two of my YouTube friends, Biggi Artmouse (Animator and Video Producer) and Jon Simon (Music Producer/Singer/Songwriter). Their channels are linked below. Thank you for watching ๐๐
A Robinโs Song
These days always
Make me feel this way
Sundown early
And the icy wind
Footfalls gentle
In the falling snow
The robin sings his song
In the cold
And Iโm thinking: โItโs with you
I wanna grow old.โ
I hear a voice calling
In my heart
How long have we
Been apart
Time is like a river
Surging through my soul
The robin sings his song
In the cold
And Iโm thinking: โItโs with you
I wanna grow old.โ
And the star shone so brightly
On that night
That all my hopes and dreams
Came to life
The robin sings his song
In the cold
And Iโm thinking: โItโs with you
I wanna grow old.โ

We were unsure if there would be any musical sessions this year due to Coronavirus, but Nick and Ellie have joined Becca and I for a few days, so the curtain has risen for The Summer Sessions 2020.
This is the first song I ever uploaded to YouTube on 30th September 2008, and I wrote it around 2006: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DimNq3hIRnU
I have added an extra verse, and Nick is on lead vocals and guitalele, whilst I played the acoustic guitar and provided backing vocals.
Thank you so much for joining us again dear friends.
If you donโt leave me now
If you donโt leave me now
And you donโt say:
โBye, bye my loveโ
I would thank the heavens
And my star up above
If you donโt leave me now
If you donโt leave me now
Youโve been on my mind
Every night and every day
And I just canโt seem to work
And I just canโt play
If you donโt leave me now
If you donโt leave me now
I remember when
Life was free as the breeze
Nothing could stop us
And all our self-belief
I remember when
I remember when

My YouTube friend +Dudexmaxtor very kindly produced an animation to go with my song/hymn 'BeNear Me'. I was mortified as I thought I had lost this in my PC failure the other day. Thank you all for watching and for your support, and I am sure that +Dudexmaxtor would love to see you all at his channel:

Have a lovely day, and Nick, Ellie, Becca and I wish you all a very good morning afternoon evening or night wherever you may be in the world. Until next time dear friends, peace out ๐๐๏ธ๐ต
I will be on here intermittently for the time being, but have family visitors at the moment as well as work commitments, so I will get around to viewing your channels as soon as possible :)
Blue Water words and music by Sye ยฉ 2020
Thank you for joining us dear friends for 'Blue Water'. This is an exclusive premiere, and is a bash at developing videos to go along with music. The footage is mostly from pixabay but due to a severe laptop crash, the links to the videos have been lost, so I am unable to post them (even though it is not necessary to give credits for the videos, I would usually like to).
Things are quite busy with family summer goings on in the Syefee world, but we will get around to visiting your channels as soon as possible. There will be a couple of exciting things coming up on the channel.
We have encountered some wonderful creative people in the two years since we began broadcasting again on this channel, and we are grateful for the bonds of friendship which have been formed.
Wherever you are in the world, Nick, Ellie, Becca and I wish you a very good morning, afternoon, evening or night, and until next time dear friends, peace out โ๏ธ๐๐
I feel very honoured that +Dudexmaxtor has added an animation to my cover of 'Moon River'. +Dudexmaxtor's channel can be found below. I highly recommend his animations, and I am sure he would be grateful if you could also visit his channel to view his work :)

One of my favourite songs ever... Moon River was written by Henry Mancini and the lyrics by Johnny Mercer. It was sung by Audrey Hepburn in the classic film: 'Breakfast at Tiffanys'.

Penny Tunes
Penny tunes
And hot balloons
Fill the air
As the world drifts by
My head is filled with
All the questions
While my heart
Just wonders why
And you always paint the colours
Summertime
Even when things are dark and grey
And even
When Iโve lost my way
Lost my way
Weโve known these streets
Since we were young
Itโs where we chose to live
And where to die
Wishes floating
On the breeze
Yet so rich
With memories
