TMN: s2e77| TRANSIT - Riverside Transit Agency Route 200 San Bernardino to Anaheim (Westbound) FULL RIDE

San Bernardino CA | June 26, 2019 | 1410

This video will automatically be mirrored on our Bit Chute Channel: https://www.bitchute.com/channel/themetropolitannetwork/

In this episode our crews recorded the entire trip of Riverside Transit Agency Route 200 from the first stop at the San Bernardino Transit Center to the last stop in Anaheim.

RTA Route 200 is one of eight long distance commuter link express routes within the Riverside transportation system. From the 1960s thru 1990s this route originally traveled from Long Beach through Orange County on its way to Riverside proper and was operated by the Southern California Rapid Transit District (SCRTD, 1989).

RTD Line 149 was later canceled when the counties of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino created the Inland Empire Connection (IEC) in 1990 (Novak, 2014). The new IEC Route 149 operated alongside the former RTD route from the Mall of Orange in Orange County to downtown Riverside by way of the 91 Freeway (RTA, 1995; Novak, 2014), the western and some eastern portions of the former line was assumed by OCTD, a predecessor agency to present day OCTA and to the Riverside Transit Agency (RTA). RTA took over the eastern operations and incorporated the route into the RTA system as Route 149 and Route 216 (Transit News, 2014).

In January of 2018, RTA introduced Route 200 as an express lane service connecting San Bernardino, Riverside, the Village at Orange, and Disneyland while consolidating Routes 149 and 216 (SBCTA, 2018). Route 200 connects three southern California counties and the ride is 54.1 miles or 88.0 km long (Rome2Rio, 2019).

From the first stop at the San Bernardino Transit Center, Route 200 makes local stops in Riverside County and Orange County before ending in front of Disneyland in Anaheim.

These are scenes of that afternoon.

Los Angeles CA | April 29, 2019 | 1130

This video will automatically be mirrored on our Bit Chute Channel: https://www.bitchute.com/channel/themetropolitannetwork/

To alleviate some of the crowding on Line 480, Foothill Transit developed a new express service by solely using 60 foot low floor articulated transit buses specially designed for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) (Gutierrez, 2006).

On March 18, 2007, line 707 Silver Streak was introduced and being funded by Proposition C, a voter-approved sales tax ordinance to provide overcrowding relief on specific bus lines (Foothill, 2012, p. 25). Line 480 was reduced to local service from Monclair to West Covina while the Silver Streak streamlined routing by utilizing the El Monte Busway and HOV lanes on the Interstate 10 freeway.

Foothill Transit's Silver Streak Line is Southern California's only 24 hour service from Montclair in San Bernardino County to Downtown Los Angeles (Foothill Transit, 2018).
These are the scenes from that afternoon.
