Our time of quarantine and economic downturn is very similar to what our ancestors in the 1920s and 1930s went through. They had just finished a World War, the Spanish Flu hit and then the Great Depression.

At that time, people were feeling much the same way as many of us are today. Many felt and feel that "something needs to be done" when the truth is that "doing something" for the sake of acting most often accomplished nothing.

So, maybe I get a little preachy and opinionated in this one, but I believe that Cinderella Man contains a couple of very important lessons that we need to heed.

We are getting closer and closer to the end of this series, my Dear Heroes. I'm excited about the things that are coming next, but first we must finish this current journey and take some time to rest and reflect.

On a sidenote, I'm now using a fully Linux-based system for all of my writing and production...actually, I've converted almost every system in my house to Linux. Breaking free of the Windows strangle-hold!

I mention that because there are some glitches in this episode that are in part due to software issues and due to using completely new programs for nearly every step of the process.

Perhaps it's silly that I'm 45 years old and I love animated movies. Perhaps not.

I find that much of the story-telling in animated films tends to be better than many "adult" movies (no, not THAT kind of "adult movie"). I think the writers simply aren't trying as hard to tell something different and are just focused on telling the best story they can muster that also houses some fundamental truth or other.

And, honestly, I think Dreamworks outdid themselves with the Kung Fu Panda series.

The Deeper Meaning of Sucker Punch (2011)
I think it's one of my favourite experiences to have a movie surprise me with its depth and meaning when I really don't expect it. I expected an anime adaptation or poor comicbook movie from Sucker Punch and what I ended up getting was, very possibly, the most profound movie I've ever seen.

I ended up in a movie theatre on Sunday evening to watch the 3-hour finale to the Avengers saga and I have to say that I was surprised at the depth that I found within it. There were some fantastic moments and important lessons. At 2am, I was putting typing the last paragraph of this script.

This is not a super in-depth examination of Endgame, only an overview of some deeper concepts that I will explore on future episodes of Think Spiritual Podcasts. Today is half-way day! This is the half-way point of the Hero's Journey! This is the half-way point of the series! This is the abyss! This is the time when you face what holds the most power over you.

I am excited today, Dear Listeners! While Step 10 is my favourite favourite part of the Hero's Journey, Step 9 - Atonement with the Father - is my favourite stage because this step is the entire point of the journey. This is the part where you face the very thing that sent you on your journey and when you make it past this part...oh ho ho! The best parts are still to come!

The subject of archetypes has been something that I've been wanting to delve into for a while. I did an interview with Beth Martens that was an introduction to the subject, but I think it's about time that I began to discuss them in more detail.

The "Hero" is the most common archetype I talk about on Think Spiritual Podcasts, but all Heroes must eventually mature and the most common path is towards Ruler/King/Queen.

So, let's start at the end as I introduce you to the archetype that is the goal line of almost every Hero's Journey.
