"In this work I seek to convey the mood of a man who has gone through the tribulations of the war years and, after the defeating the enemies of his Motherland, is now engaged in the reconstruction of his country. I want to embody in musical terms the pathos of peace-time labour on the construction sites of the new Five-Year Plan. The overture does not contain sharp dramatic conflicts. Its themes are melodious, its orchestral techniques varied."

Written in 2014, this is my first (pretty sure it's not my last) String Quartet. I have mixed feeling about this. I love this work, but even though there are obvious Tony-isms, some parts sound like I'm channeling Brahms. Nevertheless, this is what I had to say... Hope you like it. The work was revised in 2023.

1: 00:00 Allegro
2: 06:53 Prestissimo Nervoso
3: 10:58 Andante Passionato
4: 15:56 Allegro Agitato

The Knight is an original suite of five piece for intermediate recorder using the white notes from D to D, with F#, C# and B-flat

Each piece can be used stand-alone, or performed as a complete work. It is very possible for the imaginations of the teacher and student(s) to use this music to create their own story.

Score is available at: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/2807209

The movements are:

00:04 To the Rescue
01:10 Dreaming by the Stream
02:31 Somewhere.... a Monster is Lurking
03:37 Rescued
05:10 Celebration Time

This is an original set of four songs for children to celebrate aspects of the Chinese New Year. The pentatonic scale is used to give the songs an oriental feel. However, the songs are not slaves to that scale.

Each song can be used as a stand-alone piece or performed together as a cohesive whole. It is very possible to create you own actions around this music.

Included are the parts and MP3 files with a flute playing the melody, which is a great help while earning the songs.

Score is available at: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/6402378

The Songs are:
00:00 1. Praying for the Harvest
01:55 2. Relatives
02:45 3. Dumplings (or.... Mince Tarts, Turkey etc.)
04:54 4. New Year

Piano Part
The piano part is not difficult to play, but it will require someone who can play more than “just a bit”.

A fun piece for older students (and adults?) that borders of being a “proper” piece of music. The idea coming from the Classical “Toy Symphony” (possibly by Joseph Haydn).

It’s in four movements which are designed to spark the students' imagination with a spooky forest, brilliant parade and a wild dance to finish.

Sometimes… sounding “wrong” can be just so… right.

A space battle and love affair sounding score for no film in particular.

Written in 2012, inspired by a visit to Gibraltar and the kindness of the Mayor and his Wife (in 2012) plus how everyone seemed able to switch between speaking English and Spanish at the drop of a hat. Two cultures, well integrated.

One of our most popular works that been played many times in private and public.

Never leave your windows open, the Monkeys are a Pain!!!, and they will get in. :-(

The previously unknown, but now popular sea-shanty that everyone was doing the Wellerman dance to.

It's sometime called "Sea Shanty."

The 2023 revision of the Second Violin Sonata.

In just three movements, there is no slow movement, its raw drama filled journey and akin to a thorn between the romantic and passionate first and third sonatas. Melodic? Yes... but it has no qualms about abandoning tonality to make a point. Likewise, where tonality is called for... it duly is...

00:00 1st Movement - Allegro con brio
04:22 2nd Movement - Allegretto semplice
06:47 3rd Movement - Allegretto (mysterioso)

Violin Sonata No. 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozxAYY05j_4

The final of Dvoraks' New World Symphony.

From the depths rises that which is nameless into the light! Only to return, changed from what it had been, to whence it came.

The Suzuki Association of the Americas aspires to improve the quality of life in the Americas through Suzuki education. They seek to create a learning community, which embraces excellence and nurtures the human spirit.

They provide a means whereby beginners can learn the violin without having to worry about reading music at an early age. One of those pieces, in the first book, is the Perpetual Motion; a fine piece for using all four fingers on the D string.

However, after seeing a performance of it, my heart went out to the pianist who had nothing to do but play a sotto-voci, tonic-dominant oomp-pah accompaniment for 3 or 4 minutes straight....
I cracked and wrote this.

Performance Notes

This piece would work as a stand-alone Violin and Piano comedy piece, as the piece works as is. However, in performance subtle, physical indications could be enacted to indicate the thoughts and emotions of the players.

I see no reason why there shouldn’t be a third person, to narrate the thoughts.

Originally written for the Tuba, this work has been performed far more on the Euphonium.

The movements of this work are all self-contained and work when played as stand-alone pieces. However, the real power of this music comes when the work in played as whole and the train of thought, that presents itself, is taken through worlds of turmoil, despair, love and finally, joy.

The solo part can be performed on both Euphonium or Tuba. Where the notes are out of range or tricky for the Euphonium, the Tuba variation is shown as an ossia in the full score. There are full parts for both instruments.

There are six movements

0:00 1. Dreams: More of a nightmare actually.
2:51 2. Chase: Fast and Frenetic. A wild flight leading to a frightening end.
4:47 3. Wasteland: A barren land, a void of eerie winds and sounds.
6:20 4. Ballad: A pop ballad with a twist.
10:26 5. Waltz: A light romp, with a twinkle in the eye and absolutely no wrong notes.
12:40 6. Speed Wrap: A fast, lively finale, where previous themes help to wrap up the whole work up to make an exciting and exhilarating conclusion.

A substantial work for Flute and Piano that travels from a wildness to beauty, from beauty to drama to peace.

The "Fly Now, Strong and free", subtitle is from a song that fits the free, wild and abandoned mood of the whole work perfectly, and it taken from a love song between a father his son, from our musical "Theseus and the Minotaur".

1: 0:00 Presto
2: 6:04 Andante expressivo, Allegro expressivo
3: 11:57 Allegro con brio
