Can you really get .357 Magnum velocity and energy from a 9mm Luger [9x19mm]? Well, the short answer is “yes, but it depends”. Today, we will chrono the 9mm loads listed below out of two relatively long-barreled pistol platforms [Freedom Ordnance FX-9, 8" pistol, and the Glock 34]. We'll be using a Mossberg 590A1 for the demo. However, the basic maintenance process is pretty much the same for most tube-fed, pump-action shotguns, such as the Mossberg 500, 510, 590, 835, Shockwave, Mavrick 88, Remington 870, 887, TAC-14, Winchester M97 [1897], Super X, SXP, Browning BPS, Ithica 37, Weatherby PA-08, Benelli Nova, M2, M3, Harrington & Richardson (H&R), etc. The shotgun we used only had 50-rounds of birdshot and 15 slugs run through it since the last cleaning, but it was filthy nonetheless! It will guide you through the “what and where” of stoning the fire control group [FCG] components with an armorers stone. It also provides a detailed how-to on swapping out the hammer / trigger / disconnector springs for a lighter set using the JP Enterprises Reduced Power Spring Kit [3.5lb]. This video compares two of the best kit guns on the market; the Ruger LCRx .22 LR vs. the Smith & Wesson [S&W] 317 AirLite .22 LR [.22 long rifle]. They are both lightweight with a 3" barrel and an 8-shot cylinder. Lets see how their features stack up. Then, lets take them out to the range for a quick accuracy/function check and take a look at the cleaning and maintenance process.

We'd love to hear your thoughts: Which revolver do you like better? What type of “kit” do you want a “kit gun” for? What is your kit gun of choice? What is your ideal kit gun cartridge/caliber?

We take a look at the specs of each revolver; size, weight, grips, sights, cylinder, finish, barrel, trigger, action, components, etc. We test the accuracy and reliability using a variety of .22 long rifle ammo. We fired 176 rounds through each gun on this range session; all rounds fired and ejected. We had zero malfunctions in either gun. The S&W developed sticky chambers after about 6-7 cylinders and loading/extraction became difficult.

We go through the cleaning and maintenance process of each gun, including torque specs, lube points, etc. We also cover how to address the sticky chambers in the S&W 317, and how to change the site picture to a standard POA=POI on the Ruger.

Thus far, we have run over 1,000 rounds through the Ruger and about 4,000 through the S&W. So, this is not some premature “unboxing” review. We wanted to make sure we know the ins and outs of each before making a video about them.

This video tutorial will guide you on how to do a trigger job on a Glock pistol to improve the trigger quality, reduce pull weight, remove grittiness and slop in the takeup [take-up], create a crisp break and make a cleaner and more positive reset. You will need to know how to field strip and detail strip your Glock pistol before attempting a trigger job. You will also need a rotary tool with buffer wheel, polishing compound, non-marring hammer, 6/32” punch.

You will learn how to properly polish the striker, connector, trigger bar, safety plunger and extractor plunger to smooth out the factory trigger without adding any aftermarket parts. This will keep your defensive carry firearm stock for maximum reliability and legal safety. 10mm Auto vs [versus] .41 Magnum. Lets find out if there is any truth to the 10mm = .41 Mag statements we hear. First off, we LOVE the 10mm Auto... this is not an attempt to "dis" the cartridge. Its just that we have always been curious where the 10mm equals .41 notion originated, having heard the comparison thrown around for years by all sorts of folks; from average Joe’s on Internet comment sections, to gun shop staff, to the most highly-respected gun writers and industry experts out there.

That said, we have yet to find any data to support the 10mm equals .41 Mag assumption. On the contrary, when comparing the two, they were not even close… unless of course you compared the most powerful 10mm load to the weakest starting loads in .41 Magnum, which is a far cry from a real-world comparison. If we compare the full-house premium or max loads in 10mm and .41 Magnum, the difference seems to become even wider.

We will show you the data, and you can decide for yourself. Either way, we'd love to hear your thoughts.

If you want to remove [removal] the magazine disconnect safety and replace it with a device that will keep junk out and maintain proper function of the firearm, this is the device you need. Magazine disconnects add complexity and can cause a failure at very inopportune times. This device will replace the disconnect safety on a Ruger MK IV 22/45 LITE.
