It is difficult to forgive others if we fail to understand how much God has forgiven us. Unwillingness to forgive others drives a wedge between us and God and begins to close off the channel of communication with Him. We must completely let go of the wrongs that were done against us, just as Christ forgave us. If we walk in the Spirit, we will be able to let go and forgive in time.

Christ has broken down the barriers of the old dispensation, so now we have to learn to function as a society, in Christ. We are chosen, separated, and loved by God, so we must act like it. Paul tells us to clothe ourselves in the attributes that come from God: compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and longsuffering. Only then can we put up with one another and be a cohesive body of believers in Christ.

The goal for Christians is not to check off boxes on a list of sin you work at fixing. It’s not even trying to be a better person. All of these things are disdainful to God. The goal for Christians is to be transformed into the image and likeness of Christ. And how do you do that? Stop trying! God loves His children, but His wrath is provoked when people, in rebellion, fail to acknowledge Him. There are consequences to sin. We were all children of disobedience, but Christ bore the wrath that was due us, and we are covered when we put our trust in Him. The outpouring of God’s wrath lets us know that our trust is not in vain and His word will stand.

Do not take the practical application of Colossians 3 out of context and turn it into legalism. Mortifying the flesh does not mean you can fix your problems through will-worship. You must address to the Spirit the sins you grapple with. Stay connected in identity with Christ: you are either living in Christ and in the Spirit or you are living out of Christ and in the flesh.

We are dead, buried, and raised up with Christ; these are the steps of regeneration and salvation. In identifying with Christ’s death, we die to self, to the things of the world, and to the law. If we seek the things which are above and set our affections there, we will be focused on Christ and not on the things added onto the church by man.

The tribes of Israel were not all carried off to the same place or all at once. The Lost Tribes were never lost. At first glance, Issachar and his descendants seemed to be overlooked in the Bible. However, careful examination shows that they were men of means, men of might, understanding and discernment. God’s hand was in the intricate details to make this come to pass, and to this day He’s keeping His word. His eye is on each of these children of Judah, from both the Pharez and Zarah lines, and He’s got a plan to use them in the last days. This same God, the One who is working on all of these intricate details, can work on our personal problems too.

But, God has a plan and despite their short falling He will keep His word of promise to the children of Israel to accomplish His purpose then, today and in the last days. The message to us today, knowing the revelation of Christ, is that for our faith, the grace of God will see us through no matter how short we fall.

A look at Reuben shows God’s grace to fallen man. While the promise passed to another, his position as firstborn was never erased. We, like Reuben, deserve to die for our sins, but because of Christ’s status for our faith, we become co-heirs, receiving the promise, the position, and the property – Christ in us, the hope of glory.

In this study, Pastor Scott explains the difference between the different Greek words that are all translated as “beasts” in the King James Bible. The four “beasts” around the throne in Revelation 4 are not wild beasts, but “living creatures”. Their appearance is similar to that of the cherubim Ezekiel saw surrounding the departing glory of the Lord. From the beginning of the Bible to the end, the symbolism is consistent: the faces like a lion, a man, a calf and an eagle are tied to the standards of the tribes of Judah, Reuben, Ephraim and Dan that were camped on each side of the Tabernacle. These living creatures always correlate to the presence of God.

John gives us a glimpse into the mystery and majesty of the throne room in heaven, seeing the triune God and those that surround Him. There, John sees the 24 elders who have been redeemed for a purpose: to praise and worship God as they behold the spectacle of salvation. We who have been redeemed exist for the same purpose, and we can prepare to spend eternity with Him by praising Him in all things.

Each of the seven churches suffered from something that had the power to hinder them from overcoming. As believers, we face the same things in a life-long battle for our soul, and for the church: a wrestling match with the world, the flesh, and the devil. Overcoming isn’t easy, but if we focus on Christ, the giver, the one who already overcame the world, the flesh, and the works of the devil, none of these things will separate us from Him who's given us the key to overcoming, and that is by simple faith in Him.

The church at Laodicea was the worst of the seven churches, being temporally wealthy and spiritually destitute. They became lukewarm and pushed Christ out of the church. Then and today, God chastens the ones he loves when they drift away. If we hear Him, the door of grace is still open and we shall overcome by faith.
