Noam Chomsky speaking at the 15th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting (FAIR) cooperative. The talk was given at the Town Hall Auditorium in New York on 1/22/2002, several months after the 911 attack on the World Trade Center.

"According to Meat & Livestock Commission stats, 12,000,000 animals were slaughtered. This statistic did not include lambs at foot, aborted lambs, calves or piglets. On top of that, tens of thousands of chickens were slaughtered in the early months on 'welfare' grounds. 88% of all animals slaughtered had not contracted FMD (DEFRA).
"Great Orton airfield was used to slaughter sheep under the 'voluntary' cull that was anything but voluntary, and farmers not participating were ruthlessly threatened. There was only one mild case of FMD recorded from the thousands of blood tests done at Great Orton (DEFRA).
"There was a travelator that ran from the slaughter tent at Great Orton to the graves. This ran 16 hours a day transporting 'dead' young lambs. Slaughtermen working there reported that many of the lambs were buried alive."

Since Savile's death, it has become clear that he was a manipulative, evil character. However, it occurs to me - if he came across like this - how did he manage to get so many to trust him - children, royalty, politicians, broadcasters? This interview shows how well he comes across - always with a witty, charming answer to a difficult question.
It seems likely that he got away with his horrendous actions for so many years by giving the impression of being a "down-to-earth Northerner" and always making sure he could answer the right questions, in the right way whilst implying that he owned "kompromat" on his inquisitors.

Conspiracy of Silence is a 56-minute unreleased documentary film produced by Yorkshire Television in 1994.
The subject of the film is an alleged child sexual abuse ring involving a number of prominent Nebraska persons, including Lawrence King, an Omaha banker, political fundraiser, and convicted felon.
The documentary was scheduled for broadcast in the United States on cable outlet Discovery Channel on May 3, 1994.
However, it was never aired. Proponents of the film claim that it was withdrawn due to political pressure; neither Yorkshire Television nor Discovery Channel commented officially on why it was not aired.
It seems that following any major conflict, human assets and hidden caches of weapons are often left behind. It's suggested that the first time this was done was following World War II - after which British and American Secret Services left various assets in countries that had "peace" brought to them.
It seems, however, that these assets have been used over the years to fight secret wars, sometimes in friendly countries, in order to continue the agenda of the previous "victors".
In some cases, it seems these "left behinds" may have actually been the ringleaders behind a number of terrorist attacks.
