#1920s

This is a continuation of the previous Hitler video. I made a long series of videos with Dennis Wise as he described each and every segment of his 27 part video series, "Adolf Hitler The Greatest Story NEVER Told". I purchased the DVD series and recommend that you do too:

I think it is in the top two best documentaries, up there with, "Europa the Last Battle".

"Futurism" is what people believed the future would be like at a given time. Similarly, "retrofuturism" is futurism of the past. Most people think of Victorian futurism (steampunk) and 1950s/1960s futurism (atompunk). 1920s futurism sits right in the middle, mostly forgotten. But why? In this video, I'll explain a little bit about this, then show a lot of examples from a 1920s science and technology magazine.

This is the story of America, seen in color for the first time and it’s the roaring 20’s, the country is flourishing and the economy isn’t the only thing roaring. Henry Ford ignites the auto industry, radio unifies the nation, Charles Lindbergh ushers in the era of aviation, Americans are celebrating good times but the progress also brings peril.

Prohibition makes Al Capone a celebrity gangster and the Ku Klux Klan marches the streets of the capital, then after 8 years of incredible prosperity comes Black Tuesday and the crash of 29′. This is the story of the 20’s as you have never seen them before.

Al Jolson was one of the most famous performers of minstrel entertainment in the early 20th century. Al Jolson's legacy seems complicated. People are fighting about whether he should be remembered as a civil rights leader who helped bring African Americans into show business, or if he was the epitome of racist minstrel traditions.
