Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra sing "Summer Wine" , a blend of pop and country that was released in 1967.
Strawberries, cherries and an angel's kiss in spring My summer wine is really made from all these things
I walked in town on silver spurs that jingled to A song that I had only sang to just a few She saw my silver spurs and said let's pass some time And I will give to you...summer wine Oh..oh..oh...summer wine
Strawberries, cherries and an angel's kiss in spring My summer wine is really made from all these things Take off your silver spurs and help me pass the time And I will give to you...summer wine Oh...summer wine
My eyes grew heavy and my lips they could not speak I tried to get up but I couldn't find my feet She reassured me with the unfamiliar line And then she gave to me...more summer wine Woh..woh..oh...summer wine
Strawberries, cherries and an angel's kiss in spring My summer wine is really made from all these things Take off your silver spurs and help me pass the time And I will give to you...summer wine Mm...summer wine
When I woke up, the sun was shining in my eyes My silver spurs were gone, my head felt twice its size She took my silver spurs, a dollar and a dime And left me craving for...more summer wine Oh..oh..summer wine
Strawberries, cherries and an angel's kiss in spring My summer wine is really made from all these things Take off those silver spurs, help me pass the time And I will give to you my summer wine Oh...oh...summer wine

Simon and Garfunkel sing "The Sound Of Silence"in this 1966 performance.
Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence
[Verse 2] In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a street lamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by The flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence
[Verse 3] And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share And no one dared Disturb the sound of silence
[Verse 4] "Fools", said I, "You do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you" But my words, like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence
[Verse 5] And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said: "The words of the prophets are Written on the subway walls And tenement halls And whispered in the sound of silence."
Screamin' Jay Hawkins sings (screams) “I Put A Spell On You”. The song was banned from the radio after it’s 1956 release because it was so outrageous,. Screamin’ Jay stated that he was quite drunk when he recorded the record, so drunk in fact that he had little to no memory of the recording session. I'm not certain when this video performance took place, but this is some damn (excuse my French) fine rock and roll.
The Standells perform "Dirty Water", their iconic song about Boston. It was released in 1965. Not sure of the exact date that this was performed, but probably not long after it's release.
I'm gonna tell you a story I'm gonna tell you about my town I'm gonna tell you a big bad story, baby Aww, it's all about my town
Yeah, down by the river Down by the banks of the river Charles (aw, that's what's happenin' baby) That's where you'll find me Along with lovers, muggers, and thieves (aw, but they're cool, too) Well I love that dirty water Oh, Boston, you're my home (oh, you're the Number One place) Frustrated women (I mean they're frustrated) Have to be in by twelve o'clock (oh, that's a shame) But I'm wishin' and a-hopin, oh That just once those doors weren't locked (I like to save time for My baby to walk around) Well I love that dirty water Oh, Boston, you're my home (oh, yeah)
Because I love that dirty water Oh, oh, Boston, you're my home (oh, yeah)
Well, I love that dirty water (I love it, baby) I love that dirty water (I love Baw-stun) I love that dirty water (Have you heard about the Strangler?) I love that dirty water (I'm the man, I'm the man) I love that dirty water (Owww!) I love that dirty water (Come on, come on)
Bob Dylan sings "It's All Over Now Baby Blue" to Donovan as they share songs in a casual setting. The brilliant lyrics are open to endless interpretation. [Verse 1] You must leave now Take what you need, you think will last But whatever you wish to keep, you better grab it fast Yonder stands your orphan with his gun Crying like a fire in the sun
[Chorus] Look out, the saints are coming through And it's all over now, Baby Blue
[Verse 2] The highway is for gamblers, better use your sense Take what you have gathered from coincidence The empty handed painter from your streets Is drawing crazy patterns on your sheets
[Chorus] The sky, too, is folding under you And it's all over now, Baby Blue
[Verse 3] All your seasick sailors, they are rowing home Your empty handed armies are going home Your lover who just walked out the door Has taken all his blankets from the floor
[Chorus] The carpet, too, is moving under you And it's all over now, Baby Blue
[Verse 4] Leave your stepping stones behind There's something that calls for you Forget the dead you've left They will not follow you The vagabond who's rapping at your door Is standing in the clothes that you once wore
[Chorus] Strike another match, go start anew And it's all over now, Baby Blue
Sukiyaki, sung in Japanese by crooner Kyu Sakamoto, reached the top of the Billboard charts in the USA in 1963. In Japan, the song is called "Ue o Muite Arukō" (I look up as I walk). It has nothing to do with sukiyaki! [English] I look up while I walk So the tears won't fall Remembering those spring days But tonight I'm all alone I look up while I walk Counting the stars with teary eyes Remembering those summer days But tonight I'm all alone Happiness lies beyond the clouds Happiness lies above the sky I look up while I walk So the tears won't fall I cry while I walk For I am alone tonight Remembering those autumn days But tonight I'm all alone Sadness hides in the shadow of the stars Sadness hides in the shadow of the moon I look up while I walk So the tears won't fall My heart is filled with sorrow For tonight I am alone For tonight I am alone
