All TV tunes, in this case "Astro boy" and "Knot's Landing" can be downloaded from TV tunes at the Internet Archive.
A weird mash up, but somehow I thought that it was interesting as rare footage of 1980. I have no idea who these people were, but their memories will be preserved.I also can't really judge the gender/sex of the cute baby (a girl that I synced to Astro boy?), but it was just cute to me to put it with the astro boy theme. Regardless of gender it was cute to watch a baby on the beach with the theme about an amazing child hero.

Blackstar is an American animated science fantasy television series, produced in 1981 by Lou Scheimer and Norm Prescott for Filmation. The series was Filmation's second fantasy epic, the first being The Freedom Force, a segment of Tarzan and the Super 7.

Episode Overview:

1980 - nearly 40 years ago - and the year before Trump started being an informant for the FBI while he and Guiliani, Mueller take down the mafia in NYC.

Some very revealing statements by Trump as well as how, in hindsight, we never saw him coming to the White House until he mentioned it.

From an IMDB review:
If you haven't read the book, this 1980 made-for-TV rendition will do quite nicely. It strikes the right balance between humour and futuristic melodrama to hold interest but always remain credible. It does a great job of illustrating Huxley's vision of what could be the dystopian future for all mankind.

Yes it really is 40 years since the 80s began and to celebrate, here is a collection of hits from that year, a great one for pop culture if not the best.
But they're not from the usual suspects such as Blondie or Madness etc but a collection which demonstrates that pop as it entered the Me decade (or was that the 70s?) was in fine fettle as a well as a dip into some of the events and pop culture of that year, from Tiswas to Who Shot J.R.?

Featuring performances from Joe Jackson, The Buggles, Martha and the Muffins, Peter Gabriel, Jona Lewie, Nick Straker Band, Split Enz, Robert Palmer and The Stray Cats. Now where's that Rubik's Cube...

Hey kids (of all ages), it's Saturday Morning Cartoon time again!

In 1970, Filmation Studios made Universal's top three horror characters (Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, and the Wolfman) into cartoons strictly for laughs in the GROOVIE GOOLIES. (See last Saturday's upload.) Ten years later, Hanna-Barbera's Australian branch-office adapted them into teenage superheros. Still mostly for laughs.

No pop songs this time around. It's pretty goofy. But at least it was free of Smurfs, Care Bears, and other such sickly-sweet drivel that was beginning to pollute the 1980's Saturday Morning TV landscape.

I doubt the producers were even aware that the name they gave their token female villain (Vampira) was already in-use. Maila Nurmi had created the character as a pioneering Horror Host on California TV back in the 1950s. She had been called-upon to executive-produce a new VAMPIRA SHOW about the time this cartoon was being made, but the deal fell apart and they did MOVIE MACABRE WITH ELVIRA MISTRESS OF THE DARK instead.

These junior do-gooder versions of the Unholy Trio didn't make quite the lasting impression that the Groovie Goolies had. They had 16 episodes made, standard reruns, then pretty much forgotten.

So here, from September 1980, is the very first episode of DRAK PACK.

Stichting Ether Reclame
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The STER, (short for Stichting Ether Reclame, in English: "Foundation for Ether Advertisement") is responsible for the broadcast of radio and television ads on the NPO. With the income from these part of the costs of public broadcasting are paid for.

STER was founded in 1965 as the Stichting tot Uitzenden van Reclame ("Foundation for the Broadcasting of Advertisements"); the name was changed to the present name that same year. STER is most famous for Loeki de Leeuw, an animated puppet which appeared at the beginning and ending of all of STER's commercials from 1972 until 2004.

STER may not use more than 10% of the airtime per year on advertisement and daily not more than 15% and also not air ads within programs (as happens on the Dutch commercial stations). For programming with long runtimes, like UEFA Champions League events, they consider the pregame, each half of the game, halftime, and the postgame as separate programs in their programming guide and air ads between them.[1] STER is responsible for the contents of the ads which have to be strictly separate from the programs on the public networks and not influence the programming. Complaints about ads can be made at the Reclame Code Commissie[2] (in English: "Advertising Code Committee", comparable to the Advertising Standards Authority in the UK). STER contributes about 200 million euro to the total budget of 900 million euro (2013) of the Dutch Public Broadcaster.

On November 8, 2001, STER introduced a new logo for the first time of 36 years since its establishment in 1965: The 36-year-old four-blocked diamond-octahedron logo was confined to history after 36 years of legal competition, and were replaced in favour by a blue-lined diamond that contains the "Ster" wordmark which uses the Franklin Gothic typeface. The new logo was later debuted on STER's website on January 2, 2002.
