Gotta get lucky sometime.
Couldn't paint it any other colour, as the door mirrors and handles wouldn't change... weird.
Nice looking car based off the newer Mustang fastbacks.
10/10 would win again.

Repairing some rust in the boot (Trunk) before it gets out of hand. Eventually when the car is resprayed, I'll also have the boot professionally painted the body colour to match (Tornado grey). Included some detailing of bolts also. Wire brushes come in handy!

If you don't have the budget for a big dollar build, start small and detail what you have. I used Autosol metal polish, sandpaper, rag and drill with a polishing tip. (Be wary of taking the striker off, it may be difficult to realign)

The factory head unit (2013) allows the start up screen to be changed, a nice personal touch...
I don't think there was an 'Off screen" option. StartupImage is how the folder should be named.
My image displayed automatically, then I followed the prompts. (JPEG Image Size 1701 x 945 120 DPI)

This is probably old news for most owners. I'm guessing with the new model arriving soon, there will be an influx of used 86's to be snapped up. Catching up on that first time ownership experience. TV in your car? Crazy talk!

It took awhile...
After 18 years without vehicle, I finally purchased a 2013 Toyota 86.
This was from Subaru Mentone in Melbourne, Victoria. Very helpful people.

Like many, I've been after an 86 since they debuted in 2012. Living in Japan at the time, heading to work, I rode past a Toyota dealership everyday that had a red one on display. The cars looked so good as they passed me by on the road too. The Version 1 Rocket Bunny kit solidified my decision, reminding me of the beloved Holden Torana A9X of 70's fame. Snow, rain and typhoons, all fine I told myself, it will be mine...

A used version was the choice (Lose a lot of money buying new, you could lease, but doesn't feel right) but it had to be the GTS spec. I always ended up buying lower spec cars previously and making do. Something different this time and the trim upgrade is worth it. The little things.

My requirements were that it be a coupe, have a small footprint, like my old CRX and a manual gearbox/rear wheel drive. A massive methanol, supercharged big block, is always nice, but I require a little (actually a lot) fuel economy with the horsepowers. The 86 came with a factory engine swap too, choice.

I've had the 2013 recall checked and it was fine, next is to replace a couple of items and detail the life out of it. It'll be nice not having to walk.
Thanks for reading.
