Was it hijacked by the NDP? #Alberta #FairDeal #News It took a while and up, down, or sideways the #FairTradePanel was like getting the "Giant size all flavour variety pack." The sad part is that true representation of the people was NOT actually achieved. A large block of seats were allegedly taken by NDP supporters and consequently ended up empty or tipping the demographic of this small venue. Sadly this was in the modern form of "shady politics tactics" and was successful in keeping potentially valuable commentary from being voiced in this forum. It was a somewhat disappointing display of how the disconnect between the people and its governing bodies happens, it could be a playbook to disconnect success.
We wanted to cover this event in fairness to Albertans and all Canadians as well. What we got may not have been quite what we expected. I did have seats booked for the event the night before in Red Deer AB but due to the "Global Warming" and road recommendations we were not able to get there. This had me concerned because we had attempted to get seats for both at the same time and we could not. Almost instantly the Calgary event was "sold out" ... BUT we decided to go anyways and see if we could "wiggle in." We were successful!
Initially the seats, about 500 were not quite all full, the only ones standing were MSM media and real news such as us! Including Danielle Smith.
It did not take me long to wonder if I had missed something? There seemed to me to be a subtle tension in the room and very little energy, especially after a few of the "diverse" topics of points that came forward.
The speakers, chosen from registered attendee's were each given a strict 2 minute time frame to get their message across. This was where the crowd exposed themselves. It only took a few to discern that when a left leaning speaker was up, this smaller section would give the most boisterous response, and when a conservative speaker would speak they would collectively shout "TIME-TIME-TIME" if they happened hit the end of the clock... quite disrespectful and intimidating to the audience.
I did express my thoughts about "plants in the audience," almost hesitantly in my closing. This was before I found out this morning that Danielle Smith had indeed confirmed my suspicions upon releasing that NDP supporters had indeed "reserved" a large number of tickets, then could not fill the seats. Those seats went unfilled.
I covered all of the speakers, you decide for yourselves if it was "Hijacked" or not. Either way it felt quite detached as an event, it absolutely lacked the passion, the love, the emotions of any of the Wexit events so far.
In my own conclusion i would surmise that the majority of the panel was disconnected, few took notes, in whole it felt like "ear service."
Mr Kenney, I hazard that this was not nearly the "action" based discussions you will need to turn the tides away from #Wexit. It did not seem genuine and very much too late to pass as "listening."
Holly Nicholas reports on Trudeau's latest visit to Calgary where he offered only empty words to unemployed and struggling Albertans and explains why it's not likely we'll see either the Federal Liberals or Provincial NDP actually move to build the critical infrastructure needed to get Albertans working again. For the past several years British Columbia has blocked the twinning of the TMX pipeline claiming they are concerned that a spill sometime in the future would damage their environment. They have wasted millions of BC taxpayers dollars fighting court case after court case only to lose. Still they persist in fighting the pipeline while allowing foreign paid protestors to enter Canada and protest the already existing TMX pipeline. Between the BC government, the federal government and the NDP Notley government in Alberta the TMX expansion will never be built. This is part one of my series on just how concerned they are over pollution in their province and how they are full of hypocrisy.

Farmers from across the province rallied on the steps of the legislature again this week to show their opposition against Bill 6.
Wildrose and Progressive Conservative MLAs joined together to brave the cold to support the farmers and ranchers who gathered to show the government they won't roll over now that Bill 6 has passed final reading.
Bill 6 is the NDP legislation that requires Alberta farms, ranches and greenhouses to follow occupational health and safety standards and purchase WCB insurance for their paid employees. It also allows farm workers to unionize. The farmers are clear: they aren't against safety. They're against the lack of consultation they were given on this unnecessary bill.
And make no mistake about it. Greenhouses are going to be hard hit. With a carbon tax coming at them and now added labour expenses, it's going to be harder and harder for local producers to compete with Mexican or Californian vegetables, where labour costs are lower and heating costs are rarely incurred.
Tuesday morning, according to the onsite sign-up sheet, 700 people took to the legislature grounds over the course of the rally.
There were some speeches from Wildrose and PC MLAs. Wildrose MLA Rick Strankman stressed the importance of continuing to be peaceful and respectful.
Bill 6 attacks farms. They're the most independent and entrepreneurial sector of Alberta and the NDP want them under the thumb of the bureaucracy. And that’s really what this is all about: government control of those free thinking rural conservatives even if it means forcing them into a government system Rachel Notley has herself called broken and miserly.
The NDP think those pesky rural conservatives need the boot of government on their neck.
But farmers and ranchers aren't going to lie down easily. They promise to keep holding rallies and town halls because they say they won't allow this bad law to give the government a blank slate to control their lives.
