In this video, I show you how I go about making one of my favorite Christmas cookies, M&M cookies ara a great variant of the classic chocolate chip cookie. In my recipe, I make a couple personal changes that I note, the use of whole wheat flour and "Splenda" as the generic term for sucralose artificial sweetener. Both are easily replaced with all-purpose flour and sugar on a 1:1 measure basis.
You can find my printed recipe here: https://goo.gl/PRfHMJ I hope you enjoy the video!

Merry Christmas! My gift to you is this cookie recipe that's been in my family for YEARS!! These are absolutely scrumptious, I hope you'll give them a shot! Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year, everyone! XD

M&M Christmas Cookies

2 ½ Cups Flour

1 ¼ t Baking Soda

1 t Salt

1 Bag of Plain Christmas M&Ms

1 Cup Butter (at room temp)

¾ Cup Sugar (or Sugar Substitute)

1 Cup Brown Sugar

2 Eggs (at room temp)

1 t Vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Using a sifter is helpful for the cookie texture. Mix dry ingredients together.

In your stand mixer bowl cream the butter, gradually adding the sugars. Be sure to let the mixture blend after adding each ingredient. Then add the eggs and vanilla.

When the wet mixture is blended slowly add the dry ingredients. When the dry ingredients are mixed, then add the M&Ms.

Spray a 9x13 pan with baking spray. Put the cookie mixture in the pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Let cool completely before serving.

Want to know a quick, super-easy way to make a cheep box of brownies taste like something you'd be overcharged for in a fancy cafe or bakery? All you need is an orange to shake things up!

Other Suggestions:: Try adding broken bits of your favorite candy bars to the mix. Nuts are always a classic (but I have enough of those in my family.) A good quality raspberry flavor extract.

Sourdough starters are one of the oldest forms of yeast used in baking. They would have been similar to ancient yeast sources for brewing. That is wild yeast in the air and on grains/ flour.

Making a yeast culture like this is simplicity. Combine flour and water. Expose it to the air and wait. The ambient or native yeast will begin to multiply and in short order become apparent in the form of gas bubbles in the culture.

If nothing else this is a perfect example of Louis Pasteur's argument for contamination. The idea that complex life does not appear from nowhere but requires a sample or source that is external.

Overall it takes 5 days to begin the culture. It can be thought of as a pet. It requires daily feeding and water. Look after it and keep it reasonably warm and it will be happy and work well.
