Title: Send Me An Angel
Artist: Scorpions
Album: Crazy World (1990)

====Lyrics====

The wise man said just walk this way
To the dawn of the light
The wind will blow into your face
As the years pass you by

Hear this voice from deep inside
It's the call of your heart
Close your eyes and you will find
The passage out of the dark

Here I am
Will you send me an angel?
Here I am
In the land of the morning star

The wise man said just find your place
In the eye of the storm
Seek the roses along the way
Just beware of the thorns

Here I am
Will you send me an angel?
Here I am
In the land of the morning star

The wise man said just raise your hand
And reach out for the spell
Find the door to the promised land
Just believe in yourself

Hear this voice from deep inside
It's the call of your heart
Close your eyes and you will find
The way out of the dark

[4x]
Here I am
Will you send me an angel?
Here I am
In the land of the morning star

Title: The Ballad of Jeremiah Peacekeeper
Artist: Poets of the Fall
Album: Temple of Thought (2012)

====Lyrics====

He stares out the window, blank as a canvas
Made up in the sunlight and swirling smoke and ash
He waits for a breath
Now, taking his time, he sees an eternity in a blink of an eye

And for him this life is made of time and choices
And endless blend of vistas painted bright with memories
The here and now will bow to him to only serve one purpose
To keep your peace

He takes on the world all in a stride, and your wounds will be his scars
So won't you remember when the night comes
He will need your open arms
For to be invincible, he needs your love

He stands in the doorway, quiet like yesterday
With forgotten throughs become a mystery and nightmares locked away
He looks like a gunman, but his view is much too wide
For such a solution, so he fights without a six gun on his side

And all the while his stars and moon shine brightly
Outside the desert wails a curse of rage and jealousy
And yet tomorrow comes along and shifts to serve his purpose
To keep your peace

He takes on the world all in a stride, and your wounds will be his scars
So won't you remember when the night comes
He will need your open arms
For to be invincible, he needs your love

He takes on the world all in a stride, and your wounds will be his scars
So won't you remember when the night comes
He will need your open arms
For to be invincible, he needs your love

He takes on the world all in a stride, and your wounds will be his scars
So won't you remember when the night comes
He will need your open arms
For to be invincible, he needs your love
For to be invincible, he needs your love

BANDCAMP: https://ethanweigand.bandcamp.com/album/dairyland-drifter

SOUNDCLOUD: https://soundcloud.com/ethan-weigand/sets/dairyland-drifter

Two cowboy songs I've written woven together.

LYRICS:
[Where Cowboys Trod]
As I wandered through the marshlands hiking along the trails
I found an old burial ground and I listened to the tales
And the whispers on the wind of men who fought to ie free
And carve a nation in this land this is what they told me

There's an ancient spirit that haunts this land
Untamed and savage through the ages it spans
Hold your prayers for you won't find God
In the land where cowboys trod

The weak don't trek in this land so strange
Mighty beasts and braves roaming the range
Hold your prayers for you won't find God
In the land where cowboys trod

To tame the land it cannot be done
Survive with grit and a hand on your gun
Hold your prayers for you won't find God
In the land where cowboys trod

It's a land where warrior spirits will thrive
Where braves and soldiers gave their lives
Hold your prayers for you won't find God
In the land where cowboys trod

[Iron and Stone]
In New Mexico all alone
Stands a gunslinger on his own
Hand of iron heart of stone

Steely gaze in his eye
Up above the sun hangs high
Time as ever for men to die

They approach and he stands tall
Shots are fired his enemies fall
He shoots truer than them all

He's an outlaw on the run
Twenty notches on his gun
Forty more before he's done

In New Mexico all alone
Stands a gunslinger on his own
Hand of iron heart of stone

But a hero from afar
A Texas ranger shiny star
With this outlaw he'll make war

Twenty days on the trail
He knows justice must prevail
And for that he will not fail

The chase is o'er one fateful day
At ten paces they make their play
Only one will walk away

In New Mexico all alone
Stands a gunslinger on his own
Cold as iron dead as stone

LYRICS:
I am a man of the north
My spirit it belongs here
In the marshes and trees
With the corn and the peas
And every coyote and deer

I am a man of the north
Raised on the wetlands and swamps
Surrounded by lake flies
Under blue skies
And fishin' when I want

I am a man of the north
I've learned to eat my meat raw
Like the state of my heart
It might break apart
If you don't come along

I am a man of the north
Steadfast as frozen land
I'll stay by your side
Walkin' that line
If you'll only take my hand

I am a man of the north
Harsh as the winters I bear
And with every fight
You'll feel my might
But you must know I care

I am a man of the north
The north is what I call home
But a harsh winter life
Means a fire to light
And you won't ever be alone

BANDCAMP: https://ethanweigand.bandcamp.com/album/dairyland-drifter

SOUNDCLOUD: https://soundcloud.com/ethan-weigand/sets/dairyland-drifter

'Passin' the Time' is a ballad about men of a bygone era and the work songs they sang.

LYRICS:
Was a woodhick camp on a well traveled stream
Back when most things used to run on steam
Pelts were money and lumber was king
And to pass the time you had to whistle or sing
Whistle or sing

Men of the north and they're up at dawn
'Cross the trees you can hear their songs
Yips and yodels and whistlin' too
Well a well-feed Jack ain't never blue
He ain't never blue

A pastoral scene on the midwest plains
Was a little farm what's raisin' grain
With an old dirt road and wooden fence
You'll work the day for ninety cents
Ninety cents

Wirey farmhands berry brown
All day long they work the ground
But don't you worry they'll be fine
They've got their hymns and a jar of shine
Hymns and shine

Movin' on out further west
Manifest destiny was the quest
The government she's layin' rail
For movin' folk livestock and mail
Livestock and mail

Men of the old world layin' tracks
Swingin' picks breakin' their backs
But their will to work is good and strong
They fill the air with a gospel song
Singin' their songs

Mouth of the Columbia on the coast
Was a twenty-five footer fishin' boat
Nettin' salmon headin' out to sea
And shippin' 'em up to a cannery
Columbia Cannery

Was a salty sea dog and his crew
They've spent their lives on the ocean blue
Pullin' nets and hoistin' rigs
They work in time with a shanty jig
Beltin' their jig

The days were long and the work was rough
But the men hat worked were just as tough
They got through it all with a little song
Then the days didn't seem so long

Title: Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
Artist: Heather Dale
Album: The Green Knight (2009)

====Lyrics====

New year's day,
Dawning wet on Britain's shore
King's hall roused by a pounding on the door.
A giant knight, dressed in green, never seen before
Hefts an axe and holds it high and lets a challenge roar:
'You craven men may fear dishonour, but you fear my vengeance more.'

'That's fear that chills you like a wraith
And it's doubt you gird about your waist
It's rare the man who'll hold to faith
And face me in the morning.'

Sir Gawain:
Pagan Prince of Northern Isles
Shouted, 'Shame on you Brothers, on your silence.'
Took the axe and struck his blow, brought the giant low
Raised his head and held it high and met the giant's eye
And cried, 'I'll meet your vengeance in a year and we'll see who will die...you or I.'

'That's fear that chills you like a wraith
And it's doubt you gird about your waist
It's rare the man who'll hold to faith
And face me in the morning.'

Summmer gone
And Gawain leaves upon his quest
Five point star, a sign of faith upon his chest.
Seeks his foe, travels West, not knowing where to go
No clue until a baroness has promised aid to show
But only if he stay as guest within a vow of three days, no less.

'That's fear that chills you like a wraith
And it's doubt you gird about your waist
It's rare the man who'll hold to faith
And face me in the morning.'

She plays the maid
But vain the baroness' hope
Gawain's not swayed, another lady holds his oath.
She offers body, offers land but each advance is spurned.
She puts a belt into his hand, a gift of magic earned
By constancy in the face of all temptation, to his given word.

'That's fear that chills you like a wraith
But hope you gird about you waist
It's rare the man who'll hold to faith
And face me in the morning.'

New year's day,
Dawning wet on Britain's shore
Gawain meets the same green knight once more.
A man who laughs and gives his hand instead of Charon's fee
Gawain at last percieves his God and bends a reverent knee
'Take and wear my lady's belt,' the green man gladly cries,
'And see to it you serve as well in all the paths of life.'

'Be constant and be faithful
Wear that belt for all to see
That a man came here for justice
And he left here blessed by me
Left here blessed by me
Left here blessed by me...'

Title: Harvest of Sorrow
Artist: Blind Guardian
Album: A Night at the Opera (2002)

====Lyrics====

She is gone
Leaves are falling down
The tear maiden will not return
The seal of oblivion is broken
And a pure love's been turned into sin

At the dawn of our living time
Hope may cover all cries
Truth lurks hidden in the shadows
Dreams might be filled with lies
Soon there will be night
Pain remains inside

Suddenly it seemed so clear
All the blindness was taken away
She closed her eyes
And she called out my name
She was never ever seen again

Harvest of sorrow
Your seed is grown
In a frozen world full of cries
When the ray of light shrinks
Shall cold winter nights begin

She is gone
And I fall from grace
No healing charm covers my wounds
Fooled's the dawn
And so I am
Fooled by life and a bitter doom
To bring you the end of the day

At the dawn of our living time
Hope it soon will pass by
Facing a darkness
I stand alone

Harvest of sorrow
Your seed is grown
In a frozen world full of cries
When the ray of light shrinks
Shall cold winter nights begin

Title: Heaven
Artist: Bryan Adams
Album: Reckless (1984)

====Lyrics====

Oh, thinkin' about all our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free

Now nothin' can take you away from me
We've been down that road before
But that's over now
You keep me comin' back for more

Baby, you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in heaven

And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven

Oh, once in your life you find someone
Who will turn your world around
Bring you up when you're feelin' down

Yeah, nothin' could change what you mean to me
Oh, there's lots that I could say
But just hold me now
'Cause our love will light the way

And, baby, you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in heaven

Yeah, love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven

I've been waitin' for so long
For somethin' to arrive
For love to come along

Now our dreams are comin' true
Through the good times and the bad
Yeah, I'll be standin' there by you

And, baby, you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in heaven

And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven, heaven

You're all that I want
You're all that I need

We're in heaven
We're in heaven
We're in heaven

In my journey along the Lonesome Road, I came upon a young cowboy on a vantage point on the ruins of a collapsed building. Apparently he was a Sniper in the NCR and he was in really bad shape when I found him.

However, it was late and I was getting tired, so I decided to make camp for the night. But before going to sleep, I decided to devour some of the dying man's flesh as I do not like to sleep on an empty stomach.

The dying man moaned and sobbed all throughout the night. I woke the next day amazed to find he was still alive in spite of all that had happened to him. I asked me to take him to the valley and bury him. I figured I could do this one thing for him since I had made a meal of his flesh the night before and also I stole the clothes off his back, which I now wore as my own.

All the work of hauling his dying ass down from the building left me feeling a bit peckish, so I decided to devour yet more of his flesh for my breakfast. This seemed to be too much for his failing body to handle, and his soul departed. I wish I had a cup of cool water to wash his flesh down, but unfortunately there was nothing in sight.

I put a few caps on him to pay for his flesh I had devoured and his clothing which I took for him, and wished him well as I flung his lifeless over the overpass to the valley far below.

Song: Still Loving You (Live at Madison Square Garden 1984)
Artist: Scorpions
Album: Love At First Sting (1984)

====Lyrics====

Time, it needs time to win back your love again
I will be there, I will be there
Love, only love can bring back your love someday
I will be there, I will be there

Fight, babe, I'll fight to win back your love again
I will be there, I will be there
Love, only love can bring down the wall someday
I will be there, I will be there

If we go again all the way from the start
I would try to change the things that killed our love
Your pride has built a wall, so strong that I can't get through
Is there really no chance to start once again? I'm loving you

Try, baby, try to trust in my love again
I will be there, I will be there
Love, our love just shouldn't be thrown away
I will be there, I will be there

If we'd go again, all the way from the start
I would try to change the things that killed our love
Your pride has built a wall, so strong that I can't get through
Is there really no chance to start once again?

If we'd go again, all the way from the start
I would try to change the things that killed our love
Yes, I've hurt your pride, and I know what you've been through
You should give me a chance, this can't be the end

I'm still loving you
I'm still loving you
I'm still loving you
I need your love
I'm still loving you

Still loving you, baby

Still loving you
I need your love
Still loving you
I need your love, oh
Still loving you
I need your love, oh
I need your love
I need your love...

Song: Here I Go Again
Artist: Whitesnake
Album: Whitesnake 1987

1 year, 9 months ago

A song I wrote and originally performed on the CD "Dryer Than You'll Ever Be". http://johntabacco.bandcamp.com/track... Since the melodic range seemed more fitting for a female I asked vocalist Debbie Jones to have a go at it. I think she captured the romantic loneliness of this piece quite well. Deb sang on top of my piano track and thus, if you listen carefully you can hear a slight ghost of my voice in the mix. This truncated version can be found on the CD Eros, Ebb and Flow http://johntabacco.bandcamp.com/album... SUNRISE CAN FOOL ME

Sunrise can fool me like a mystery kiss on Valentines
Sunrise can fool me like a serious fist of dandelions

Sunrise is truly one of nature’s best disguise
The start of a new beginning
The end of an old demise

Sunrise can fool me like a mystery kiss on Valentines
Sunrise can fool me like a serious fist of dandelions

Sunrise is truly one of nature’s best disguise
Sunrise can fool me
Sunrise can rule me

When I’m lost - I’m alone
With a dream that has been shattered to the bone
Yes the light from sunrise saves me now
From the fear of the dark unknown

Sunrise can fool me like a mystery kiss on Valentines
Sunrise can fool me like a serious fist of dandelions

Oh I love the face you try to hide in your hands,
We are in love
Oh I love the snow angels we make hand in hand,
We are in love

Give me the stone you're hiding within
Shimmering, frozen, all it does is make me feel the cold
Rules don't apply, gravity lies
The Moon gently smiles when we silently sway while I sing

How long we have been dancing?
You are all I see...

Oh I love the smile you try to hide in your hands,
We are in love
Oh I love the sand angels we make hand in hand,
We are in love

Summer in bloom, lovers in swoon
Never believed I also could walk in the air like a fool
The greatest of stories, heavenly bliss
Now and forever may sometimes end with no kiss

Now we wonder are we both crazy
Getting into this...

Oh I love the face you try to hide in your hands,
We are in love
Love the way you get older with me day by day,
We are in love
Oh I love the snow angels we make hand in hand,
We are in love
And I love how this love makes us strong day by day,
We are in love

Taken from "Tonttu" (2007) album.

Sanat: (english lyrics after the Finnish ones below)

"Vapaus"

jo tuskan vapauttaa
ajatukset kirkastaa
ei menneen kirot valtaa enää saa

kerran kohtalon kosketus armoton
sisäinen hävitys
mielenkirjon öinen vaellus
valtas pimeys

ensilumi peittää lehdet kuolleet
puhaltaa puhdistaen vapauden tuulet
oi mielens' taas uudestaan sielun sykkeen kuulee

==

English translation:

"Freedom"

now pain released to be
thoughts consist soul clarity
the pasts curses no longer hold duality

once the touch of fate merciless and of pain
inner annihilation
mind spectrum's nightly travel lush
darkness won't give up

the first snow covers old leaves now dead
now blow the winds of freedom ahead
oh mind of his once again hears the soulbeat
light blesses

American straightforward soul singer and backing vocalist Dennis Englewood said, "When I heard 10cc's original, 'I'm Not In Love', I noticed that there were too many synthetic distorted choir voices, made from technical machines that made part of the real music disenchanted and I call their production horrible, sucked in and disembodied. I don't like how synthesized they were. Those weren't man-made for me. For my creamy vanilla soul ballad version of that song, I wanted to do the whole backing track with a lot of real instruments playing that are man-made for me and the real backing voices of myself, Laurie Maitland, Joyce Berry and Sue Fleming, created in a family style.

If you're interested in his man-made soul ballad remake of the 10cc, buy his soulful version at:
https://dennisenglewood.bandcamp.com/track/im-not-in-love
https://store.cdbaby.com/cd/dennisenglewood2

As the original once said:

The ethereal sound was created by laboriously building up multiple overdubs of the voices of Stewart, Graham Gouldman, Godley and Creme singing a single note in unison. This multi-track was then mixed down and dubbed down onto 16-track tape. This process was repeated across all sixteen tracks to create a lush 256-voice "virtual" choir that could "sing" chromatic chords. A number of these prepared multi-tracks were then cut into several endless loops, each of which contained the basic notes of the main chords used in the song. The chorus loops could then be played by using the mixing desk rather like a keyboard -- each chord could be sounded by bringing up the fader for that loop.

The instrumental break featured the repeated spoken phrase: "Be quiet, big boys don't cry...", which was spoken by Kathy Warren, the receptionist of the Strawberry Studios where the band recorded the track...

In this pre-sampler period, the group was able to simulate a large polyphonic choir, creating a dramatic tonal effect similar to that produced by the well-known choir setting on the Mellotron, but with a far richer sound, and in full stereo.

I commented about Kathy Redfern and said:

When Kathy Redfern said the irrelevant line, "Be quiet. Big boys don't cry." and then echoes of her last line happened overhead, the audience would boo her out, because she wasn't making any sense in that song about neglect, so I would give her thumbs down.

I made comments about Kathy Redfern and said:

When Kathy Redfern said the irrelevant line, "Be quiet. Big boys don't cry." and then echoes of her last line happened overhead, the audience would boo her out, because she wasn't making any sense in that song about neglect, so I would give her thumbs down.

I'm Not in Love by 10cc:

‘The drummer said it was crap and we were just about to scrap the whole thing. Then I heard the studio’s secretary singing it – and the window-cleaner whistling it’

Eric Stewart, singer-songwriter, keyboard
I met this gorgeous girl called Gloria at Halifax town hall. I was 18. She was 16. Three years later, we got married. A few years after that, Gloria told me: “You don’t say ‘I love you’ much any more.” I told her that, if I said it all the time, it would sound glib. But I started wondering how I could say it without using those actual words. So “I’m not in love” became a rhetorical conversation with myself – and then a song.

I wrote the lyrics in a couple of days. The line “I keep your picture up on the wall, it hides a nasty stain” was about the crack in my bedroom wall at my parents’ house in Manchester. I’d put a photograph of Gloria over it. When I took the song to the band, they said: “‘I’m not in love’? What on earth is that? You can’t say that!” But Graham Gouldman, our bass-player and chord-master, agreed to work on it with me. We both liked The Girl from Ipanema, so gave it a similar bossa nova style. Then Kevin Godley, our drummer, said it was crap.

William Rodriguez was the head janitor in the World Trade Center with twenty years of employment there. He had experienced the first basement bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993. In that first attack 6 were killed and about 1,000 people were injured. But the building did not collapse that time. On 9/11/01 Willie became a ground zero hero for rescuing people like Felipe David, whose face and arms were burned by an explosive fire in a basement elevator. At first, William Rodriguez was proclaimed a hero for getting people out of the World Trade Center. He was invited to dine at the White House as a guest of George W. Bush, and he met other power-politicians like Hilary Clinton. He was even offered to be funded to run for political office. William Rodriguez testified to the 9/11 Commission about the explosions that he had heard below the maintenance office on sub-level #1 in the North Tower. His testimony, like that of Norman Mineta, Sibel Edmonds, and countless others, was omitted from the final report. Rodriguez served as the Hispanic Victims group leader. He has toured the world as a 9/11 Truth activist in the years since 9/11. Vic Sadot interviewed William Rodriguez in August 2005 to write this song. Vic sings and plays the guitar and the 10 button Pointe Noir accordion, and the other tracks and sound work are by Zone Parker.

On Sept 11, 2011 Vic Sadot released a CD titled "9/11 Truth & Justice Songs", which is now available at CD Baby:
