Bangkok is a very busy city. So I escaped the chaos and biked to the countryside nearby. In this video, I will show you a bike route along San Saep Canal to Min Buri. Min Buri is a small undeveloped district near Bangkok where you can see how Thai people live a traditional lifestyle.

Bangkok Noir: A cut up corpse in a freezer and cop shot are just an anecdote. This is the story about Stanley the bookie and Bob the baker.

1 month, 1 week ago

Once upon a time Bangkok had a network of Khlongs (Cannals), in fact Bangkok was know as the Venice of the east, Khlongs were used for moving goods, produce and by the people for getting around Bangkok, over the years most of Bangkoks Khlongs have been filled in but there are still some which you can use, travelling by Khlong boat is very cheap and exciting, the Boats are very big much the same size as a Bus.
With open sides covered by plastic curtains which are drawn up by passengers to either protect from splashes as boats pass each other or dropped to allow the breeze through, you catch the Khlong boat by boarding from one of the docks scattered along the Khlong, take a seat on the wooden benches therein, once underway the ticket seller will come along the gunwale clinging to the roof rails as they go, have your small change ready, the most I have ever paid was Baht 30 or $1.30 AUS there is often a board located on the dock which has the stops listed and the cost, then sit back and enjoy the ride while you see a side of Bangkok not many other tourist do.

Part 4 of this massive Seafood feast, I get called "a Superman" by the owner for being able to eat so much, what an honor! - Beautiful and unique restaurant in the outskirts of Bangkok...

From Mark Wiens Blog/Video: Hia Boon Seafood (ร้านเฮียบูรณ์ซีฟู้ด) is a 1 table Thai seafood restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand. The family run restaurants is originally from Yala province in southern Thailand, but they lived for many years in Trat. Trat has some of the best seafood in Thailand, and when they moved to Bangkok, they wanted to bring top quality organic seafood to Bangkok. At first, the family just distributed seafood and did delivery, but their son Andaman, who is 20 years old, loved to cook. Customers were asking them to open just a single one table restaurant, and so they did. You have to book ahead and order ahead, but you can be guaranteed the seafood is fresh and top quality. It was a fun experience, and delicious seafood.

Dishes that I ordered:

Steamed fish, lime juice (ปลากะพงนึ่งมะนาว)
Shrimp salad (พล่ากุ้ง)
Barracuda, chili salt (ปลาน้ำดอกไม้ผัดพริกเกลือ)
Cuttlefish (หมึกหอมย่าง)
Grilled shrimp (กุ้งลายเสือเผา)
Pickled crab (ปูไข่ดอง)
Shrimp cakes (ทอดมันกุ้ง)

Total price - 4,880 Baht

The title is self-explanatory.

There is a really good 360-degree view from here to the main area in Banglamphu. The golden color of the structure is also pretty nice. I hope you like it! I visited here right as they opened, at 7:30 am

How to arrive here?: You could come by MRT, the station is called "Sam Yot" and then you have to walk like 5-7 minutes, just straight down the road, you can't miss it. When you exit the station just turn left and walk until you see it. Additionally, if you take that path, you will walk past the "Thipsamai" Restaurant, one of the best and most sought-after places in Bangkok, this branch is the first to make Pad Thai, almost 100 years old! Check my video tour of that place here: https://www.bitchute.com/video/zePq21z7p1gG/

9 months, 3 weeks ago

After having a compendium of meals, all totally different, I decided that it would be a good idea to walk a little bit around the city. So I just jumped into a MRT and rode it until the "Silom" Station, which leaves you (depending on the exit you take) right at the entrance of Lumphini Park. It was night-time and Lumphini Park closes at night-time. So I just kept walking randomly, I believe the idea was to go to "Central World" shopping mall (which also closes at 10 pm) a really nice and vast complex. The thing is that I'm positive you're not allowed (at least on paper) to record in there, you need to discover that place by yourself, as I said, it is really nice and I'm not a shopper kind of person.

But just to show how much I am not a shopper kind of person, I walked into a 7/11 LOL! No, really, I just went in there for a bottle of water. I mean, 7/11's in Thailand are kinda cool and really convenient (also if you want to pay with Card) but that was my main purpose. I DO give them praise because they provide a nice space for recharging your batteries and are always moderately clean and have helpful staff. By the way, there are different tiers of 7/11 within Bangkok, there are really small and simple ones, and then there's the more "refined" ones (with the black-and-silver logo) where you can make yourself, and comfortably eat a cup of noodles, drink a Slurpee or eat a Japanese Sandwich.

9 months, 3 weeks ago

This is Part 2 Here I eat the noodles with braised pork - That meat had a strong flavor, not my favorite, but then again, pork isn't my favorite as a whole. Not bad, though! After seasoning it, it gained some flavor. Also, I had some Won-tons in a separate bowl, with soy sauce in the bottom I believe. Really soft, and they were good, too.

What I ordered:
- Noodles with braised pork
- Traditional Won-tons with Soy sauce, the star-item of the menu
The meal cost me 120 Baht.

How do I get here?: Copy & paste this into your navigator, for example: หยวน หมี่ ปัง เปา สาขาประตูผี
Or also you can get there via MRT/Subway: the closest Station is called "Sam Yot", when you exit the station just turn left, and just walk straight about 5 minutes, it is just before a place called "Chinese Steamed Buns" and a Shawarma street-food stall.

9 months, 3 weeks ago

Since this place is very near to the University in the Banglamphu area. One could say that this is what students eat, "Student Fuel" if you will, "Gra prao gai kai dao" is how they call it.

It is essentially a plate with a bowl-shaped mound of rice, a nice, fried egg and some sauteed chicken with herbs. Sooo good!, it is hard to express just how good this tasted despite the simplicity of the dish, I mean you have the Umami from the chicken and the egg, and some chilies that you add on top, plus the rice and the juice that forms from frying that delicious food in a wok. Yum!

I also ordered, spontaneously, a nice papaya salad.

Last, but not least: Check those views, I arrived in the perfect moment, not just because they were about to close (as you can hear in the video) but that sunset and those sunset colors are just spectacular, perfect pairing for the food!

Here's what I ordered:
- Gra prao gai kai dao
- Papaya salad w/ crab
The price was 120 Baht.

How to get here?: Copy & paste this into you navigator หลุยส์ ท่าพระจันทร์ (Ran Liong Lui)
Address: Phra Chan Klang, Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200
It is close to the Boat station where you can cross to Wang Lang Market.

This is Part 1, here I arrive, and order. There is a little mishap while ordering, you'll see - This video was shot at the "River View" (Also called "River Vibe") Guesthouse. It really is an 'insider-tip', if you will, in terms of a Sky-bar type of setting, while at the same time being affordable and having a really pleasant atmosphere.

I discovered about it in the "Lonely Planet" Bangkok guide, I'm surprised not more people come here, probably because the other Sky-bars get over-hyped, that really must be it. Also they could make this place for guests only and they don't, that is something to be grateful for!

One last thing that I HAVE to mention, is that the staff at this Restaurant is remarkably pleasant, it is hard to pinpoint but really, they make you feel "at home" so to speak and as I said, are really pleasant in general.

Here's what I ordered:
- Chicken Green Curry with coconut milk, really really good.
- Plain white rice, for mixing.
- Vegetable Spring Rolls, unfortunately, they did not have the Shrimp ones but c'mon that's no big deal.
- Sparkling Water

Sorry for the wind you will hear at some points throughout this video, I don't have a specialized microphone for that... and it does get better, if it hadn't I probably would have uploaded this video!

How to get here?: I believe the best options are either the BTS "Saphan Taksin", there are also buses but it's kinda difficult to understand where they are going and all that. From the BTS you have to walk like 10-15 minutes. Or also you could go with the MRT to "Hua Lamong" and from there, once again, walk about 7-10 minutes. Type "River House Guesthouse" intro G. Maps and it should give you a good breakdown on how to reach, because to be honest, the streets to reach this place are a little bit cryptic and not so well lit.

Cheers! If you liked this video do comment and subscribe for more to come.

This is Part 1, here I arrive, and thank god that I got a table because this place gets really full. You know, being a Michelin-guide approved food establishment and all, that tends to happen.

They only serve three dishes in this place, that goes to show you how popular they must be that they can sustain their business like this, but also the level of expertise that they must have acquired at making this particular food-item! You will see in this video the lovely Grandma that is behind this whole operation. She is so lovely that she actually allowed me to film how they prepare this dish. Thank you so much!

Also I read that even Anthony Bourdain was at this Restaurant. So that is always a good sign.

How to get here?:
1391 Charoenkrung Rd, Silom, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500 (Opp entrance of Shangri-la Hotel) is the address. The closest public transportation option is to catch the BTS (Skytrain) to the "Saphan Taksin" station. From there it is literally just 3-4 minutes by foot. It's a little bit confusing to find at first but based on this video and maybe asking some locals you cannot miss.

This is Part 2, here I receive my bowl of Porridge + minced pork balls with a really runny egg, and some thinly sliced ginger, Yummy!

As you can hear at the beggining of the video, the people at the table next to mine offered me some valuable advice, and provide some insight about the condiments that I had available. I wasn't sure about what was in the bottle, 'looked like Soy sauce but I wasn't sure, so THANK YOU to them for the kind and friendly information.

This place is Michelin Guide approved, and was recommended to me by my friend Yumiko! You know what they say, never judge a book by its cover. It doesn't look the best, kinda weird texture and bland color aren't that enticing at first. But then you add a little bit of Soy sauce, some dried chili and so on and you have a delicious bite in your hands.

I say "Thank you" for this experience, it was really good and I'm glad I tried it out!

Simple and short video. This is a trip with the so-called "Khlong Saen Saep Boat Service" that will save you a lot of money especially if you are staying around the Banglamphu/Khaosan Road area. To get there and to get out fast. It takes you from the "National Stadium" BTS Station / Saphan Hua Chang is the name of the boat station, directly to Phanpha Leelard Pier, which is the last station so you can't miss it, and it does leave you merely *footsteps* away from the Golden Mount and Democracy Monument. This particular route costs just 9 Baht, nice.

Also you can take it on you way back and it will leave you, once again, footsteps away from the BTS Skytrain, but also the Shopping Mall called "Siam Discovery", that is very very upscale and fancy, it has a Jamie Oliver Restaurant. When I needed something from the city, what I would do once I realized this "trick" is to take the boat from "Phanfa Leelard Pier" until "Saphan Hua Chang" (next to National Stadium) and then just walk to the Shopping area: places like Big C Supercenter, Central World and Gaysorn Village/Gaysorn Tower, it takes just 10 minutes or so, and in those places you can find everything you need in terms of shopping, from food, to cosmetics or clothes and electronics, also it's a really nice area since a lot of locals mingle there, not just tourists like around the Khaosan Road area so you can see what locals do for fun. Last, but not least: In those shopping centers I just mentioned, the convenience that the A/C and the D-E-L-U-X-E toilets provide cannot be understated, LOL!

I just got off the MRT! I cross the street and I enter in Or Tor Kor Market in Bangkok, Thailand.

Here I take stroll around the building, and check out the food-stalls and food-court where they offer a multitude of dishes and snacks, plus beverages and fresh fish!. A lot of durian here, hehe. I have a few videos in this channel where I document my experience while eating Durian (for the first time), do check them out!

How to get here?: Take the "MRT" (Subway) to the NEXT station right after "Chatuchak Park", Or Tor Kor Market is right next to Chatuchak Weekend Market, literally 2 minutes away by foot. You can't miss it.

Enjoy

In this video I go again through some of the stalls, in this case some of the ones that sell fruit, because after that spicy salad and chicken, I need something to contrast and bring me down.

I saw there were many stalls selling Durian fruit, very popular in this part of the planet, have you tried it?.
One of them though, boasted about having more than one kind, in this case the Monthong (the most popular one) and the Kanyao Durian, after a brief discussion about what the difference is, which she didn't really explain that good, I said to myself "just buy it" and this way I can try it.

The price was quite high, she was selling 100g for 300 Baht which is a lot of money, after weighing it she gave me a discount. Maybe because of the stone inside, maybe because this wasn't a big exemplar. Did I get ripped off? If you are a connoisseur in this subject, please educate me. I am legitimately interested in knowing.

Also it is widely mentioned that the Kanyao Durian is also called "Lond Stem Durian" in fact, I believe that is the literal translation of "Kanyao", and the ones the lady sold there seemed to have a long stem.

I saw an entry in a Blog that mentioned there is a farm selling the Kanyao Durian for A LOT of money, but those Durians are so special and scarce that they don't even get to the markets. I mean, Or Tor Kor Market is known to be a kinda upscale place, I was just wondering that maybe it IS a Kanyao, just not from that particular farm. It's not like other people cannot cultivate this variety, right?

How to get here?: Take the "MRT" (Subway) to the NEXT station right after "Chatuchak Park", Or Tor Kor Market is right next to Chatuchak Weekend Market, literally 2 minutes away by foot. You can't miss it.

Yes, I think it has been enough of eating for now: After the Durian, the sticky rice, the Thai "Crepe", the Chicken and the Salad (and probably something more that I am forgetting) I decide to head out of the Market.

Chatuchak Weekend Market is just right across the street, so I want to go there. I do ask some friendly locals where it is, yes, that is how foggy my brain is in this video...

Turns out that Chatuchak is absolutely full-to-the-brim with tourists and locals alike, waaay to much people for my taste and I cannot even pull out my camera comfortable, there are a lot of very narrow alleys and you are constantly bumping into people and waiting to be able to walk, also, there are no toilets, at least, not for free.

Who would have thought that Or Tor Kor Market was the Highlight of this day, when I actually intended to come to Chatuchak Market and the second thing was Or Tor Kor... ...goes to show you.

Also, I found that in Chatuchak Market there was mostly, and I mean this, just merchandise, shirts, bags, purses, and things like that, also cosmetics and people selling beverages. Honestly none of those things did appeal to me, so after spending 10 minutes there, and seeing how recording wasn't much of a possibility, I decided to head back home, to digest all this food.

Thank you for watching, please do comment and subscribe! More stuff to come

When I travel, like most people, I like to photograph my experiences. However, I think at times people can get too caught up with photographing their surroundings as opposed to taking them in with their own eyes. When I travel I like to do something I call a "Time Lapse Travel Log". In order to get a time lapse shot, I need to take numerous photos. Working with RAW files, I can only take a limited amount of photos. I look at each shot in the video as a 'photo'. In a way, I think of it as having a 35mm camera with just one roll of film. I need to only take the shots that I like or the shots that matter. Since it takes a while to get one 'shot' or 'scene', I get the luxury of taking in the surroundings and it forces me to take a moment to slow down, as opposed to hurrying around to see as many sights and places as possible.

These shots were captured in Bangkok, Thailand during the last week of August 2017.

With the exception of one shot with a four second shutter speed, each shot has a two second shutter.

All of these time lapse shots are 4K ready. For any inquires about these time lapse shots, or any others, please contact me at '[email protected]' or at +82 10.2481.1722.

I am based in Seoul, South Korea.

In the past I have average the dirty houses front yards in Thailand (I ride a bike on a 1300 dwelling area to calculate this and took notes on a paper, I edit maps on the internet that is why I count all this) and I come up with over 22% super dirty places and over 50% dirty some how. I very much understand why this happens and fill sorry that people do not have a simple mentality for basic needs in life there. I saw so far 5 poison snakes on that SOI 12. In this street there are 28 houses, 12 were very dirty (I've cleaned 2, 10 left) and about 8 of the rest are dirty in some way not suitable. On one occasion a snake kill a cat, another occasion two times i open the front gate and twice a snake fells from the tree in front of me. When I arrive here the first thing I do is clean the outside of my friend house. Many of those houses are abandoned. Many have been taken out by the banks to pay for the mortgage. Not even the banks clean those places. I have formerly filled up 3 reports to the government that deals with this and I never got a replay back. I saw a few people here with dengue and I think once I got the dengue myself, I stay 7 days inside sick never went to hospital. My friend come here 3 times to check on me. Now I have cleaned the house where I stay and the one on it's side but still needs to clean the other one on the other side that belongs to the bank. That side I saw 2 snakes there and at dusk I see mosquitoes coming from there, so I need to go and check for containers that may have water with mosquitoes larva.
