Simply 70's wishes to present one of their all time favorite performers, the incomparable Barry White!

"You're the First, the Last, My Everything" is a song recorded by Barry White from his third studio album Can't Get Enough (1974). The song was written by White, Tony Sepe and Peter Radcliffe and produced by White.

The song reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the UK Singles Chart. It was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 1974, and certified silver by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), also in 1974.

Peter Radcliffe originally wrote the track as a country song with the title "You're My First, You're My Last, My In-Between", which went unrecorded for 21 years. White recorded it as a disco song, retaining most of the musical structure while rewriting the lyrics.

"You're the First, the Last, My Everything" was White's fourth top ten hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, reaching number two. It was kept out of the number one spot by "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by Elton John. It spent a week at number one on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart. The track made it to number two on the disco/dance charts. On the UK Singles Chart it fared even better, spending two weeks at the top in December 1974.

Barry Eugene Carter (September 12, 1944 – July 4, 2003), better known by his stage name Barry White, was an American singer-songwriter, musician, record producer and composer.

A two-time Grammy Award–winner known for his distinctive bass-baritone voice and romantic image, his greatest success came in the 1970s as a solo singer and with The Love Unlimited Orchestra, crafting many enduring soul, funk, and disco songs such as his two biggest hits: "You're the First, the Last, My Everything" and "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe". Due to his large frame, impressive facial hair, and deep voice, he has been given the nickname "The Walrus of Love".

White recorded 19 studio albums during the course of his career, but multiple versions and compilations were released worldwide that were certified gold, 41 of which also attained platinum status. White had 20 gold and 10 platinum singles, with worldwide record sales in excess of 100 million records, and is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. His influences included James Cleveland, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and Marvin Gaye.

In this episode, Neil, David and James attempt to discuss the film Coonskin without getting the podcast banned - a very difficult proposition indeed given the very title of the film. Indeed, one might wonder why a Jewish filmmaker would use such an insulting title, given that it references the term for a black sell-out, which would rather apply to Barry White, Scatman Crothers and the rest of the Negroes in the cast, as we find out. Indeed, we look at how Negroes are simultaneously exploited and lampooned in the film, as well as the overt anti-White hatred, and as James has mentioned outside of the podcast, if the cartoon characters were merchandised without the public knowing anything about the source, there would be outcries of racism from SJWs.
