#beer

A barrel aged Scotch Berry Ale from North Mountain Brewing co. Aged in Whiskey Barrels from Magnum Liquor. Brewed and Bottled By N. Mtn Brewing co.
10.4 ABV, SRM is 29.2 and the IBUs are 30. An unfiltered ale, allow to settle before pouring.
On the nose she is she doesn't have a heavy boozy or scotch aroma. You get the cask and blackberries but nothing off putting. Initial hit is sweet and smoky so delicious. A nice mouth fill and she finishes off dirty and delicious on the back end. So good. Complex, heavy and interesting. This is a work of art.

The beer will make me feel better

3 weeks, 2 days ago

In this one i am giving my opinion on a quite good beer, while tipsy. This is my first ever beer review video so yes it is amateurish.

4 weeks, 1 day ago

Another one form my nephew Alex and his lovely bride Holly. Barrio Brewing is local to me coming out of Tuscon and I like to drink and support local breweries. I've had more than a few of their catalog and they do make some good brews.
She runs 6.4 for the ABV, 53 for the IBUs and the SRM is a hazy OJ 35.
On the nose she is light, with pine and citrus, nothing overpowering. The initial hit is Hoppy, Fruity and Juice w a hint of Pineapple. SH\he runs a medium slow as she fills, coats the palate nicely, sweet and fruity. On the back ends she mildly oily but not dirty or dry, very flavorful.
All in all a solid choice especially if you're aren't a big IPA drinker. I'd drink it.
Thanks for liking, watching and sharing

Here's a very easy peasy beer bread recipe : you just need some flour, some sugar - brown preferably - a pinch of salt an a pint of stout beer.
This is a total success and people go nuts over it.

To bake a Stout Beer Bread, you will need :
- 3.5 cups of sifted all purpose flour
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 tbsp of salt
- A pint of stout beer
- Some butter to grease the pans

Stella Artois gives us this special for the 2nd year. A dark lager she runs 5.4 ABV I'd guess sub 20 for IBUS and the SRM By My Eye is an easy 125.
Billed as having chocolate, espresso and smoke but all I really got was a thin light chocolate hit. She comes in thin with a bit of the chocolate and does a fast minor build. She covers the palate in a thin sheen and dumps down to a dirty finish. I did finally get a bit of coffee on the back end but not that it was a major part of the brew. No smoke unfortunately, I do love a good smoked lager. Not bad and its easy drinker no doubt, uncomplicated so she's be easy to knock back a few but really grabbing me.
Thanks for coming by folks
Have a happy and festive ( best as you can this year anyway) Holiday season and Merry Christmas form Pima and I.

Deschutes The Ages from their Reserve series is a Geuze-inspired, multi-year blending with wild yeast. This is a brutally dry sour, very tasty if you like'em like that. Kyle sat in for this one and like myself he loves the sours. Neither of us were disappointed with this brewing. I did do a little research into this style as it is new to me. The descriptions ranged from Funky to Barnyard but I didn't see any of that here. To be honest I was looking forward to the new complexities of that kind of description. The flavor does open up as she warms and this style is recommended to drink between 50-60f, she was a bit under that here.
On the nose Kyle picked up the pear but I didn't, just the sour. Initial hit is very dry, like a kick in the teeth, not bad but fast and hard. She run fast thru the middle literally sucking all the moisture out of your palate and finished up w the acidic tang, dirty but not oily nor unpleasant Kyle has a better palate then I do and was able to get more out of this. He found the pepperiness to be light but there, I never found it. The pear notes are most comparable to a dry cider, again not unpleasant and as for the rest I never found them but it could be due to temperature , she was a bit cold.
ABV is 7.4, IBUs 14 and we called the golden OJ color an SRM of 30 for S&G.
Thanks for watching and sharing
And a big Thank You to Kyle for sitting in and giving a 2nd opinion for reference.

This brew from Sam Adams is their newest version, an update of the original, seasonally available Nov.-Jan is their take on a winter warmer. It's actually has in interesting inverted palate profile. She comes in light and smooth, not seeing the ginger and cinnamon up front. medium fast thru the middle and a dirty back end. It's on the back end where you get both the light bittering and the malty-ness. It's not a bad brew but it is by no means a true winter warmer.
The ABV is 4.4, the IBU's are 22 and the SRM is a nice nutty 25.
Thanks for coming by and having a cold one with me.
Be Safe and have a nice Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans

Today's secret ingredient is...

4 months, 3 weeks ago

This is a very simple 5 minutes recipe for a beer bread with Corona Extra beer. Corona is good, Corona is refreshing, but mostly Corona is safe. It's a perfect pale lager for a #beer #bread.

The Mexican beer #Corona has had bad press lately, which is a pity. It's an easy beer to drink, so why not use it a little bit differently and bake bread. Hopefully this video goes viral.

Beer bread is super easy to make and tasty too. You don't need to knead nor let it proof for hours.

French word of the day : "bière" for beer

Recipe :
11fl oz of Corona Extra beer
1lb of all purpose flour
1tbsp of baking powder
1tsp of salt
1tsp of sugar

This pack includes Big Wave Golden Ale, Long board Island Lager, Castaway IPA, and Kua Bay IPA. Thanks for watching and I'll see you on the next episode.

Hell Everyone. I was ready to try some summer beers and thought this would be a fun experience. I have been craving citrus flavors, especially now that it's time to start enjoying the full warmth of the sun. Could this be my beer of choice for gardening?

For the last few months, I've been working towards brewing a drinkable beer using only the wild yeasts found on a section of a sugar maple log which was cut from my neighbor's tree in the summer of 2018 and has remained in my firewood pile since.
This was all done in the hopes of creating my own American Kveik-like or American farmhouse yeast culture. For that reason, I designed a regimen to treat this log and the yeast on it as close to how the Norse treat their Kveik yeasts as possible, including the pitching of the log/yeast at high fermentation temperatures.
I cleaned it up and began using it in a series of beers, the first, only to see what would grow. It grew alright but the beer was terrible and undrinkable.
Log Beers II & III were designed with and along with a drying and freezing of the yeast slurries and the log with the intent of running the bacteria out of the log and along with them the bad flavors associated with them.
This "Log Beer IV" is the culmination of my discovery and cleanup process.
For more information, I suggest searching the Facebook pages "Milk the Funk" and "David Heath Homebrew Group" and search "Chaz Nute.

If you have comments or questions, feel free to ask away and I'll answer them if I can, I respond to everybody.

Another one from one of the local breweries, San Tan Hefeweizen has a nice nose, rich and beery with a citrus aroma. The initial hit is interesting, thin on the tongue with light citrus .She burns fast thru the middle while building the flavor profile. Not very citrusy and I didn't get the banana and cloves. Finally she is dry and dirty on the finish. Not a bad beer, I could drink these.
ABV is 5.0 IBUs are 15 which is about top end for a hefe and the SRM is literally the color of OJ so lets say 20.

Normally I like the stuff they put out there. Back when they had a tap house up in Phoenix,( early 90's when the brew revolution was in it's infancy here) I used to bend the elbow there with gusto. That being said I was really looking forward to this beer. It is 2 of my favorite styles, berliner weiss and fruited sour. Sadly this one disappoints since it is way past my tolerance for sour. Nice nose heavier on the fruit than the sour but once it hits the palate she inverts hard and fast. Sour up front she builds to an even more sour middle, albeit a very fast burn thru there and then ends clean and dry. It's not a brew for me but if youre into very sour things this might be the brew for you.
There is no information on the net and the can lists the ABV as 5.0, sub 10 would be my guess for IBUs and the SRM is an easy 20 with its orange juice like appearance. I would recommend drinking this beer as cold as possible , like 36F to abate some of that tartness.
Thx for stopping by folks,
E.

Another one from the good folks at Firestone Walker's R&D branch. Ever pushing the envelope with their Luponic Distortion IPA series. This time they went to New Zealand to source the hops for this brew, see what I mean about pushing the brewing craft envelope? Billed as a "Tropical Fruit Bomb" the listed flavors that are infused thru the hops are Kiwi, Lychee and Fiejoa (aka pineapple guava). The specs are 5.9 ABV, I'm guessing the IBUs to be 40 and the SRM is a nice clear 6.
The nose is hoppy with the piney/citrusy aroma I'd guess is called "juicy". She hits the palate w light hops, medium fast burn thru the middle, dry and dirty on the back end as expected w all the hop oils.
Not a bad choice. I have really started to look forward to these releases even though I'm more miss than hit w these. It's always an interesting experimental.

This brew from Flying Fish was a swing and a miss for me. Billed as a session sour ale brewed with Strawberry and Lime to evoke hints of salt water taffy. They weren't lying, this is a candy sweet sour. They brew in New jersey so this must be their homage to the Atlantic City boardwalk of old.
The ABV is 4.3 with 8 IBUs and the SRM is best guess an 8 with the nice golden hue. I just couldn't get around the candied strawberry taste. Not my kind of fruited sour.

Grand Canyon Brewing out of Flagstaff Az teamed up w the Arizona Coyotes to produce this American Ale. Kachina Throwback American Ale is a tribute to the good old days when the sweaters had some local pride and the teams has a bit of flair. There is literally nothing on the website about this beer other than it's purchase contributes a portion of the proceeds to the Coyotes charity.(link:https://www.nhl.com/coyotes/community/foundation) This beer runs 4.9 ABV with 18 IBUs and the SRM is around 12 I'd say. The nose is very light citrus with a hint of beer. The mouth is pretty much a standard ale albeit a light ( not lite) one. Lightly bittered with a fast middle and a clean dry back end, this isn't anything special but it's completely serviceable. And it has a cool logo for the label ;)

This isn't a bad beer. Nice light nose, the combination of citrus fruits gives it an interesting aroma. She hits very light initially, builds thru the medium fast middle and finishes clean and dry with the citrus just hanging in there. An drinkable beer, should be a good summer brew. I'm not a fan of the parentage but if thats not an issue for you this is a solid easy drinker. Running 5.2 ABV the IBUs are 10 as befitting a wheat and the SRM is 8 by my eye. Not as cloudy as some wheat beers.

Boulevard Brewing Tank 7 American Saison is everything I was looking for on this particular day. I will admit to some prejudice as I find most of their brews to hit right in my sweet spot. This one is another example of a fine 2 beer brew. Running 8.5 ABV with the IBUs t 35 and the SRM of 12 I can say this is one of the better after dinner libations. She hits the nose with a light Belgian aroma, sweet and floral. On the tongue she's showing more of the Belgian flavor and Sweet but not cloying. Citrusy fruit notes towards the end before it closes out. Medium fast thru the middle with an odd but bad finish on the back end. I like this company so take it for what you will. They make the beers I like and I like them for it.

One from their rotating series of experimental IPAs. This one is a tropical hazy IPA w hints of citrus, mango and bunch of other fruits that I didn't pick up w the barbarians palate I have. It was interesting but nothing I'd order. I haven't found them to be as well balanced or crafted as some of the other breweries. This does hit up front w a citrusy and fruity nose that's quite pleasant. It transfers over to the initial hit, very fruity and medium hoppy. She has an odd flavor profile that comes in waves as opposed to just a flat solid monotone.Dry and dirty on the back end this is more suited to the IPA guys than I.

Right as I was preparing to leave the wonderful Restaurant at the "River View Guesthouse" (8th Floor) I discovered last minute that there was an even higher level that one can access via a spiral staircase. I will say, I saw some waiters going up that staircase, but maybe it was a restricted area, or something like that. At the end, they invited me to check it out, and in a completely spontaneous move, I decided to enjoy a local brew, "Chang Beer" while I was up there! I don't really drink that often, or beer, for that matter, but this seemed really fitting, also as you can imagine in Bangkok, it was REALLY warm, even up there.

As I said, the atmosphere in both terraces, the upper and the lower one is absolutely fantastic and I do certainly recommend you to check out this place. Out of the most popular Sky-bars in Bangkok, this is definitely the one that offers the most quality for a reasonable price, and the best part, it is not overcrowded like those other ones are. And nice soft music in the background, not loud, bothersome charts blasting while you are trying to enjoy a drink and perhaps a meal.

How to get here?: I believe the best options are either the BTS "Saphan Taksin", there are also buses but it's kinda difficult to understand where they are going and all that. From the BTS you have to walk like 10-15 minutes. Or also you could go with the MRT to "Hua Lamong" and from there, once again, walk about 7-10 minutes. Type "River House Guesthouse" intro G. Maps and it should give you a good breakdown on how to reach, because to be honest, the streets to reach this place are a little bit cryptic and not so well lit.

Cheers! If you liked this video do comment and subscribe for more to come.

Oskar Blues was one of the 1st craft breweries to go mainstream and mass market their canned brews. This IPA is one of the first offering from them as far as I can ascertain for the interwebs, It shows as it's not as brutally bitter as the IPA game has become. This is a well balanced fruity IPA and while not anything I'd pick first isn't a bad beer. It has been over shadowed by time tho and it more of a foot note these days as even the company has pulled it's description/information page from their website. If you enjoy that IPA citrus/fruit taste but don't want the heavy bitter price tag this would be a solid choice for you.

Well here it finally is. Our attempt to dethrone PewDiePie. Well actually most of us don’t give a rats ass what the hell PewDiePie does but CS seems to be obsessed with the idea that the man has some kind of secret mind control device that he can find out about. He hasn’t figured out why anyone would want to watch another person play video games when they could just do it themselves. He didn’t factor in the all pervasive specter of human stupidity.

So anyway this is a dual purpose attempt at figuring out the “diabolical master plan” of PewDiePie and satiating Jordan's desire to drink heavily and be retarded. Its actually more likely that Crotch Sweat is going to put everyone watching into epileptic seizures. He has a real talent for that. Either way, as always, when he is like this we cannot talk him out of what he is doing. So as long as we keep the beer coming and the internet connection running he will be quiet and eventually pass out from Alcohol consumption.

All things eventually settle themselves.

Four Peaks is a local company to me and I like to drink local when possible and palatable.Sadly I don't really consider them to be local anymore. In 2018 they were bought out by AB InBev and if you've watched anything I've put up you know how I feel about global corporations and the food industry. I say sadly because this is a nice light Belgian style Witbier. A delicious Belgian nose that's neither understated not overpowering but much like the 3rd porridge,it's just right. The initial hit is light and tasty with a fast burn thru the middle and a clean and citrusy finish. I'd put this on par w the other globalist product Blue Moon which is AB InBevs main competitor Miller Coors. There are superior whites out there and I've praised them but this would do if I didn't have such mistrust for global conglomerates.
Thanks for swinging by and listening to me rant once again,

Yup this beer from Launitas , an " Ultra Mega Mondo" Red Ale is here for a limited time only. A rich and full well balanced red, this brew is a solid entry in their experimental series. Not bad for for a throw away but not something I'd brew to make the bucks on. She runs a solid 8.8 ABV with an IBU of "76.92" because 77 ins't specific enough lol. The OG or Specgrav is 1.085 and the SRM is a solid 15 by my eye. A nice brew to sort the day through with its interesting flip on the tongue. Worth taking a look it if you bend more to the malty side,
