But what is happening in CH 35-36 is the legacy of the 2 brothers, Esau and Yakob. And then the story moves on. So we will spend a little time on this CH.
In revenge, her brothers kill the men of the city and take the women and children. Many see it as unnecessary, but I will say that the women and children come to follow the One True GOD, and give up the worship of false GOD’s, thus having eternal life with GOD.
GOD says again that Yakob’s new name is Israel (GEN 32:28). GOD reminds Israel (notice the name) that nations will come from him (Israel = Yakob). Kings will come from his descendants. Land promised to his ancestors Abraham and Isaac will belong to him and his descendants.
This is the legacy of Esau. That legacy, well there are 2 peoples that emerge from this book of origins, the book of beginnings. Yes, there great prophecies as well. But these 2 peoples, one, the people of Yahweh, through Abraham, Isaac, Yakob, Yoseph… The other from Esau, who represent the people who are the eternal enemy of Yahweh.

The point is there was considerable spiritual battles going on surrounding Yakob. After all he is about to take the next step in developing GOD’s Nation of Israel.
Dinah name means justice. Now this gets a bit controversial. But at this time she (Dinah) may at this time have been as young as 8 to maybe 10 years old. And the commentators who BTW simply usually are in lock step with one another say she was 16, and that is simply missing the whole idea of what the text is telling us.
The fallout from the rebellion of the ten spies as we saw in the previous chapter will play out in this chapter as God pronounces judgment on all who rebelled and grants mercy and grace upon Joshua, Caleb and all those (most likely 20 years and younger) not responsible for the rebellion.

This Proverb is clear enough but in application, we see that it is misunderstood and misapplied, or completely ignored by many. Especially those who reject the necessity of calling on men to repent and believe the Gospel. This Proverb is a rebuke of Laodicean antinomianism and a call for repentance to all others.

When the Bible says "God did tempt Abraham", the obvious meaning of the word is "test". We will offer a short explanation as to why we do not support a "revision" of the KJV for such terms and will also discuss how the Jesus tests us but also suffeered greater trials and temptations (tests!) than we ever could.

Yet as we have seen in HEB 11 the hall of faith CH, By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even regarding things to come.
Isaac is now 130 (137) years old and he is not dying, in fact he is going to live another 40 some years and secondly, the brothers as kids were in their 70’s.
The mention of the eyes of Isaac being dimmed has a dual meaning. One is the natural realm, his eyesight was failing, he was old, that happens. Also, Isaac wasn’t seeing things clear in the spiritual sense. Undoubtably Isaac knew of the prophecy given to Rebekah in GEN 25.
Those who reject wisdom do so out of a self-deception that they will GAIN something in their foolishness. We discuss the "woke" cult of our present day in these end times in light of this truth.

By the end of GEN 27, Isaac will have handed the family blessing down to his second-born, Jacob. The birthright already was with Jacob…GEN 25. At least from one standpoint…
Isaac is now 130 (137) years old and he is not dying, in fact he is going to live another 40 some years and secondly, the brothers as kids were in their 70’s. Some traditional teachers say the family of Isaac lived in the area of Shem and his family including Eber Shem’s great grandson.
Isaac had buried his half-brother Ishmael earlier that same year. So it may be that Isaac is thinking, well my half- brother died at my age, so I’m probably not far behind him.
There is a theory and it seems correct to me anyway that Isaac did know about the prophecy the elder should serve the younger that Rebekah had received and so it seems that Isaac was rejecting that prophecy. At least at first.
An obvious truth... until you FEEL like God isn't hearing you. Let's look back at Genesis for a reminder of the reality that Jesus hears us.
