OAKLAND GARDENS, Queens (WABC) -- The BP gas station on Union Turnpike in Oakland Gardens is an old-fashioned service station where you can get gas and have your car fixed, too.
Shortly after school got out on Thursday, a crowd formed outside the station - students from two nearby high schools were fighting each other.
In the middle of that, one girl was pepper-sprayed. She and her two friends came into the store for protection. However, the brawl outside was just getting started, and soon they started to attack the station.
One person was hit with a metal pipe in the head. Other workers sprayed the students with a hose, and they backed away, but only for a moment.
A couple minutes later, they charged back. A student armed with a two by four, and another picked up a pole. After a while, the students started to retreat, perhaps because they finally heard the siren of a single police car.
One 16-year-old student was arrested and charged with assault. It is not clear if police plan to protect the service station any better in the future.

A mob of eight to 10 males wielding hammers descended upon bystanders at the East Bank Light Rail station on Friday night injuring several, according to recorded police dispatch audio.
The incident was apparently reported to 911 just before 10 p.m. on Friday according to the audio and other social media police scanner reports. A 9:48 p.m. Facebook post on 2nd Precinct Minneapolis Crime Watch page said that University of Minnesota (U of M) police were requesting assistance from Minneapolis police (MPD) and Metro Transit police for “a group of 8-10 males chasing people with hammers” and that some people were injured. A Facebook post a minute later on Minneapolis Scanner page said that the three police departments were responding to “multiple calls” about “10-12 Somali teen males armed with hammers chasing people,” also with “several injuries reported.” Both Facebook pages regularly post summaries of police scanner audio https://soundcloud.com/user-630159000/2019-05-17-u-of-m-hammer-attack-east-bank-lrt-station
A person who claimed on social media to have been at the station when the incident occurred said that the group of males had “hammers and bars,” and that they seemed to be “attacking anyone who looked like they had money or were white.” The witness, who said he isn’t white, said he didn’t want to “[take] on a bunch of dudes with blunt objects,” and that he “hurried an older white lady away” and they walked a few blocks to catch a bus.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police said as many as 500 teens, many broken into groups of 50 to 100, congregated in Millennium Park and Michigan Avenue Wednesday evening.
About 30 people were arrested, mostly Chicago Public School high school students, police said. Police had some administrators come downtown to apparently identify some of the students involved.
The arrests were made for fighting, trespassing, disobeying police and harassing people, police said. No serious injuries were reported.

Social media, a warm night and spring break for Chicago Public Schools all combined to draw hundreds of teenagers downtown for the evening Wednesday.
It’s a perennial issue in Chicago as summer comes: Teens connect with hundreds of others within seconds online and congregate in the Loop and along the Magnificent Mile, sometimes resulting in chaotic encounters with officers trying to contain the crowds.
Officers in the downtown and Near North Side districts over the years have used a variety of tactics, including directing the teenagers onto trains and buses that carry them out of the area.
But such strategies have raised concerns about the rights of teenagers who aren’t causing problems, especially when most sent away from downtown are black and from the South and West sides.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man was killed and five other people were wounded in a mass shooting early Wednesday morning after a rap event at a gentlemen's club, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
Just after 2 a.m., according to police, a silver Chevrolet Tahoe riddled with bullets arrived at Memorial Hospital, dropping off six people, including Willie Addison, with gunshot wounds.
Investigators said they learned that the six people in the Taho attended a rap music event at Paradise Gentlemen's Club on Baymeadows Road, between Philips Highway and Interstate 95 in the Deerwood Center area, just prior to the shooting.
Investigators said they believe at least one shooter fired from another vehicle that pulled alongside the Tahoe and that the shooting was a targeted act of violence against the people in the Tahoe.
Surveillance video from nearby Wacko's Gentleman’s Club captured moments right before the shooting. In the video, an SUV drives past on Emerson Street, followed by two more vehicles before witnesses who were outside said they heard gunfire.
According to Florida Department of Corrections records, Addison, who is described in court documents as a certified gang member, was released from prison in June after serving six years in prison for burglary and perjury convictions.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - What started as a great weekend in New Orleans to celebrate Mark Whittaker Allen’s 30th birthday ended in trauma for him and his friends visiting from Colorado, when they were attacked and beaten by party bus passengers on Canal Street early Sunday (Feb. 10).
Gabrielle Lee said she, her boyfriend Mark Whittaker Allen, and three of their friends had just left their hotel and were walking near the intersection of St. Charles Avenue and Canal Street around 2 a.m., when they noticed a woman who appeared to be homeless being heckled by people hanging out the windows of a party bus.
When one of their friends, Matt Wasserman, approached the woman and told the hecklers to stop, Lee said a group of the passengers exited the bus and started yelling at them. Lee said almost everyone in the group appeared to be teenage boys. As they were walking away, Allen was attacked from behind by one of boys, who punched him in the face and knocked him unconscious. Wassterman was also hit, as was the woman being heckled, Lee said.
The teens ran back onto the bus, which then drove off, Lee said. She said the bus circled back around the scene twice before driving off.

According to NOPD spokesman Andy Cunningham, responding officers stopped the bus while investigating the attack but were told the attackers were no longer on board. The owner of the party bus company Tweezy Entertainment told FOX 8 everyone one the bus was 21 or older and the suspects did not get back on board after the attack.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) — Sacramento police increase security efforts at the Delta Shores shopping plaza Monday after a string of fights and chaos at Arden Fair Mall.
Hundreds of teenagers gathered at Arden Fair Mall twice last week in “coordinated acts of aggression,” according to mall spokesperson Nathan Spradlin. Several teenagers fought as many others watched.
The mayhem caused the mall to shut down early Saturday. There were no arrests, but over the weekend police issued a citation to one girl for allegedly carrying a taser.
On Monday, as Sacramento police, Delta Shores security and Allied Universal security patrolled the shopping center's parking lot, about 20 community leaders pounded the pavement as well. Pastor Les Simmons, with the South Sacramento Christian Center, said they came to Delta Shores after seeing teenagers share social media posts about meeting there.
“We’re here to gather with them to just be a light, be the ministry of presence, as well,” Simmons said.
Some of the mentors, coaches and youth leaders at Delta Shores also met with the teenagers at Arden Fair mall during the commotion last week. Simmons said part of the problem is the lack of opportunities for the youth.
“We have to continue to create spaces,” he said. “This has been a two-week window for young folks to just roam around. I think a lot of boys and girls centers could be open, community centers could be open, to really funnel some of these youth that have a lot of energy into these facilities.”
When you don’t have activities that are positive for them to be engaged in, they will, like all young people have done over the ages, find something negative to get into,” Roberts said.
Roberts hopes the petition will help allocate some Measure U funding to youth services in Sacramento.
“With a dedicated youth fund and a city council that recognizes the importance of youth activities, that we will begin investing again in our young people,” he said.

The facts behind the lurid headlines"
Victoria is having a debate about gangs. Specifically, it is debating whether it is appropriate to call groups of young people who are predominantly from African backgrounds a “gang” and, so named, what should be done about it.
It’s also having a debate about race, which is being waged in the comment sections of front-page articles on gang violence, and on social media, where comments like “stop immigration until this mess is sorted” populate Victoria police’s official Facebook page.
Both debates are linked to a perceived increase in large-scale violent offences committed by young people of African appearance, most of whom have been linked to Melbourne’s Sudanese migrant community.
Media coverage of the issue, led by the News Corp tabloid the Herald Sun, has dubbed Victoria “a state of fear” and reported that it could undermine the incumbent Labor government’s chances in the November state election.
On Monday the prime minister weighed in, saying at a press conference in Sydney that “growing gang violence and lawlessness in Victoria” was “a failure of the Andrews government”.
However, police say that crime from African “street gangs” is an ongoing, not growing, problem, and also that calling these groups “gangs” might be overstating the issue.
What makes a gang? Patton’s preferred term is “networked criminal offenders”. which is harder to work into a headline.
Patton’s comments followed an interview by fellow deputy commissioner Andrew Crisp last week, who urged the media not to label groups of “young thugs” as “gangs”, saying: “I don’t accept for one minute that we do have gangs.”
He added: “I urge you [the media] not to play up to the ego of these young people by calling them a gang, because they’re not a gang.”
Patton on Monday attempted to both maintain that argument and say that police did not shy away from the use of the term, saying: “They’re behaving like street gangs, so let’s call them that. That’s what they are.”
That narrative is underpinned by race, Kelly says. And while he says it’s possible to have a debate about different ethnic groups without sliding into racism, in this case, in many areas, the debate has become “clearly racist.”
“That to me is a far more dangerous issue,” he said. “When it becomes a racialised moral panic, then we start to see the things that lead toward Cronulla over 10 years ago. That was instigated by the a very similar array of panics.”

CWB Chicago tonight has secured cellphone video of Saturday evening’s mob attack in a downtown subway station that left three people injured, including a man who reportedly suffered a broken eye socket.
Surveillance images of six men wanted in connection with the attack were released by Chicago police late on New Year’s Eve. Nearly all of the suspects have been identified, according to a police department source.
The attack at the State-Chicago Red Line station followed two hours of “large group” disruptions along the Magnificent Mile.
On social media, friends of suspected offenders have been cracking racist, anti-Asian jokes about the violent attack, which some are blaming on a group of young men who call themselves “Duhh Boys.” Widespread comments suggest the man in the video was targeted for his Canada Goose jacket, which the attackers failed to get control of.
Others have called the suspects out for their alleged behavior.

At least four people were injured and CTA Red Line traffic was snarled as large groups of teens and young adults brought havoc to the Magnificent Mile on Saturday evening. One arrest was made.
Alderman Brian Hopkins (2nd) tweeted at 7:47 p.m. that “Water Tower Place will be closing at 8 p.m. tonight due to mob action by large crowds of juveniles.”
The latest Mag Mile mob scene began around 5 p.m. when a victim reported being battered near the Red Line station at State and Chicago. A man was arrested in connection with that attack.
At the same time, employees of a nearby McDonald’s reported 50 teenagers fighting inside the restaurant at 10 East Chicago. After being pushed from the restaurant, the group headed to Water Tower Place, where a disturbance was reported on the second floor at 5:45 p.m. Police estimated the crowd to be 50- to 60-strong.
Police moved the teens out of the mall and followed the group as it headed east toward the lake and then back to Water Tower, sparking widespread reports of assaults and fighting.
By 6:30 p.m. the mob began making its way back to the Red Line station at Chicago and State. The H&M store reported being struck by a large number of shoplifters and the McDonald’s again reported being overrun by the mob.
Once on the Red Line platform, members of the group began beating up people at random. Three people filed police reports for battery and an ambulance was summoned to treat the victims.
Southbound Red Line trains were delayed as the crowd made its way out of the area. One train conductor told CTA dispatchers that they did not feel safe moving their train because passengers were rocking the cars from side-to-side.
Saturday’s incident was the latest in a string of similar mob actions along the Magnificent Mile and inside Water Tower Place.
Other cases were reported in early May, on Memorial Day weekend, and on Thanksgiving weekend.
Streeterville residents’ concern about the mob activity was a primary talking point during a Dec. 18th community meeting in which the Dave & Busters arcade-restaurant group announced plans to move into a 42,000-square-foot section of Water Tower Place.
Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson has brushed off the incidents as "kids doing goofy things."

Philadelphia Police spokesman Capt. John Ryan said investigators believe the two male victims - 31-year-old William Taylor and 28-year-old Akeem Mattox - had found a stash of drugs while they were renovating homes.
Ryan said he did not believe the drugs came from the home where the four were found shot, but it was unclear what home the stash was found in.
Ryan said at least one of the men, who were raised together and called themselves stepbrothers, contacted one of the suspects to try to sell the stash of drugs.
The deal turned into a robbery and then a murder, he said.
The men and two women- 20-year-old Tiyaniah Hopkins and 17-year-old Yaleah Hall, who were sisters- were found on Nov. 19 "executed" in the basement of the home after a family member called and asked for a welfare check.
Police would not say what drugs or how much were found. They also would not say which man they believe had set up the deal. But Ross said the stash of drugs was so small "it would blow your mind" that it led to such a crime.
Ryan said Porter has nine prior arrests, but could not recall the exact charges.

BUFFALO – Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz took to social media Thursday night saying comments he had read belonging to news stories regarding last night’s event at the Walden Galleria has reached a new low for local commentators – it’s “pure racism.”
He points to a Facebook post by Monica Boyd Elderkin who wrote that fights and inappropriate behavior at Bills’ games by whites, to these commentators, are just “boys being boys” and African-American teenagers fighting at the mall are “animals” who “shouldn’t be allowed outside of Buffalo.”
“I will always call out racism and bigotry in our community, but racism can only be defeated when we all call it out, all of us,” Mr. Poloncarz wrote Thursday night. “Kudos to Monica and others for stating what needs to be said. We are a better community than the few bigots who live among us, but we can only be the best community we can be when we stand up and call out those who would divide us. I hope you will join me in that task, as Monica did.”

Every Bills game I have ever gone to I have seen multiple fights with people cheering them on. I have walked across a parking lot and gotten sucker punched by a drunk girl. I have had possessions stolen from me in the parking lot.
So to read comments in news articles regarding the mall mayhem, that fighting is a black issue or an issue from busses from the city is ridiculous. Teenagers being rowdy and disruptive is not a black issue. Coding your language to say “city” is transparent.
It sucks to have violence ruin what should be a fun, family safe space. Appropriate punishment should be given to instigators. But to read comments in the news section, you would think fighting doesn’t happen at Bills games, Lancaster Speedway, country concerts. I’m thinking back to when Cuse won the championship and people went into “let’s destroy property” and I got into it with the guy who was trying to set things on fire 😬

MILFORD, CT — The operators of the Connecticut Post Mall said Thursday that they are reviewing its policies in light of several major mass brawls that occurred inside the 1201 Boston Post Road mall late Wednesday that resulted in the complex closing early.
Two juveniles were arrested. Police said that there were numerous brawls involving 1o to 12 teens that occurred inside the mall. A brawl also occured at the The Shoppes at Buckland Hills in Manchester that involved 200 people and also led to that mall closing early on Wednesday too. Several arrests were made in the Manchester mall brawl.
In a statement Thursday, the Connecticut Post Mall said "we closed the property early as a precautionary measure due to the large number of unattended juvenile traffic disrupting Connecticut Post Mall's family-oriented business environment. Because the safety and security of our shoppers, employees and retailers is our top priority, we worked closely and in full cooperation with Milford PD to clear mall common areas.
Milford Police said Wednesday that the crowd of unsupervised teens fighting got to be too much to control and the decision to close the mall was made around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday. Police say groups of 10 to 12 teens were fighting with one another at multiple times and once police were able to break up one major fight, then another popped up quickly. Police said there were numerous fights in several locations inside the mall.

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. - A community is still looking for answers after a crowded party turns into a 200-person fight, according to police.
Roanoke County police first responded to reports of shots fired at Star City Skate Center on Hershberger early Sunday morning.
Nicholas Gilliam Jr. and Marques Davis say that a song came on that stirred local gang tension.
They say gang signs soon led to 95% of the room becoming involved in a fight. Gilliam says that, although no shots were fired, he saw at least one individual holding a handgun.
Davis was one of the youngest in the crowd at 13 years old. He says he had one thing on his mind during the chaos.
"Honestly I didn't want to die. I did not want to die," he said.
Both boys say that, after the brawl inside cooled down, many people came outside to the parking lot, where several smaller fights then broke out.

The parents of two students who were attacked in separate incidents at Minneapolis' Edison High School last week are speaking out about the recent outbreak of violence among students.
On Monday, the parents of a 15-year-old Edison student told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS their daughter was sent to the hospital with a concussion after three girls attacked her in the school's cafeteria.
On Thursday, another 14-year-old Edison student was knocked unconscious by another student and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The victim's parents told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS their daughter also suffered a concussion and has another brain scan this week.
The mother of the 14-year-old injured in last Thursday agreed to talk with 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS under the condition the family's name would not be used.
"This is an assault on my daughter and it was unprovoked," the mother said. "When you walk up to someone and punch them in the face it is an assault, when you knock someone unconscious and they are defenseless and you continue the attack, it is an assault."
The girl's mother said she is in the process of removing her daughter from Edison and is not happy with the current level of security and safety at the Northeast Minneapolis high school.
"I had warned the school about this girl who was bullying my daughter," the mother said. "And, they did not protect her and after I got the call I cried in the car all the way from my job to the hospital."
"I never thought I would be bringing my daughter to a brain trauma specialist on a regular basis, to make sure everything is OK, all because of a terrible attack inside the school," she said.
Hardy Armstrong is an Edison parent who told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS his daughter was also punched in the face by another student after his daughter tried to help the girl who was knocked out.
Armstrong said he met with school leaders at Edison back in October to warn them about what he said was "an escalation" of violence at the school and at some outside school activities.
"I met with the principal and the principal, basically, brushed me off," Armstrong said. "Eventually, I got up and walked out of the meeting because it did not seem like they were doing anything."
"We have counselors, social workers, mediators and other things on our campus for students," Warne said. "Unfortunately, there are times when we cannot predict when students will reach for violence to solve their conflicts."
The Minneapolis School District told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS there were eight assaults at Edison in the 2017-18 school year and so far, on record, there has only been one assault in the 2018-19 school year.

SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) - Monday morning, chaos erupted in the cafeteria at Oakville High School. Video shows students tackling a staff member to the ground before pulling and kicking him.

Hamilton is just one example of St. Louis Public Schools’ teacher shortage problem. During the school year, it’s typical for the district to have 100 or more teaching vacancies, among fewer than 2,000 total teaching positions.
When teachers are missing — either because of position vacancies or absences — it hurts student learning. Students often are funneled into other classrooms or handed over to subs. The problem is compounded by the fact that high-poverty schools in north St. Louis often have the hardest time finding and keeping teachers, said Halliday Douglas, director of talent strategy and management for St. Louis Public Schools.
Hamilton was short on teachers from the time school began last fall, when the principal learned that a special education teacher had quit over the summer to take another job.
By May, half of Hamilton’s teaching staff, or nine people, had left the school. At one point, Principal Starlett Frenchie needed five substitute teachers, on top of the two permanent subs the district had already assigned to Hamilton for the school year. But she could get only three.
Frenchie said she could only guess as to why those teachers left. The district conducts exit interviews with teachers who leave, but she said she didn’t receive reports from those interviews.
She suspects pay is part of it. In the 2016-2017 school year, the median salary for Hamilton staff was $39,015 a year, which is the district’s starting salary.
But the classroom environment, specifically student discipline, may also play a role. Last year was the first year the district halted out-of-school suspensions for kindergartners through second-graders.
The policy was intended as a way to keep students in school and learning. But that year, Frenchie lost all her K-2 teachers.
Frenchie said her staff could use more resources to meet the demands of such a policy, such as training on how to manage distressed or unruly children in the classroom. She could also use more staff to handle such students in school. Hamilton has an in-school suspension coordinator whose job is to help pupils work through their problems, but the coordinator has been absent so often that there hasn’t really been an in-school suspension program.
“Teachers are coming out of college. They’re not coming from a place where they’re equipped to deal with some of these social-emotional traumas that we experience in urban education. As a result, it tends to create traumatized adults,” said Frenchie, who has been principal at Hamilton for seven years and is the district’s elementary school leader of the year.
JOB OFFERS PENDING
This year, Westlund’s office screened all applications within 48 hours. The district interviewed candidates by phone, then brought them in for an interview with multiple principals. Candidates have to teach a sample lesson and hear feedback on their teaching.
Frenchie said she liked the new hiring process and had hopes that she would have success in keeping teachers in the coming school year. She has offers out to fill all nine teaching positions she needs for the fall.

Shocking footage has emerged of the moment two men were ambushed and bashed unconscious in an “unprovoked, random, senseless and brutal” attack by a group of 20 youths on the St Kilda foreshore.
The victims were left unconscious, and one was robbed, after being repeatedly kicked and punched in the random assault on December 1.
The attack was one of a number of violent incidents that prompted calls for Port Phillip Council to permanently ban alcohol on St Kilda's foreshore during summer. The council, bowing to rising pressure from businesses and police, voted to introduce the booze ban last week. It is expected to come into force next week.
The latest attack comes a month after a similar incident when a young chef and a 23-year-old man were set upon outside Donovan's restaurant.
CCTV footage of the latest incident shows the victims walking along the foreshore about 11.15pm when they were set upon by up to 10 youths, before another 10 joined in.
The victims tried to walk away, but they continued to be hassled by the group before things escalated further.
A 24-year-old Burwood East man suffered a broken nose and facial bruising in the attack. As he lay motionless on the ground, the offenders rifled through his pockets, stealing his wallet and mobile phone.
His friend, a 26-year-old Wheelers Hill man, tried to intervene in the attack, but was kicked in the head, chest and stomach until he collapsed on the ground.
The group is described as being African in appearance, and are believed to be in their mid-teens to early 20s. Police have released images of the a group of males they wish to speak to.

On the first day of school this fall at Liberty Hill Academy, a 14-year-old boy told an assistant principal that he’d like to see the administrator out on the street so he could bust his head, according to a North Charleston police report.
The threat could have been seen as a bad omen, a sign of yet another difficult year at Charleston County’s alternative school for at-risk middle-schoolers. Liberty Hill has come under scrutiny since a handful of ex-teachers described its environment as lawless, dangerous and demoralizing.
Teachers are getting 28 days of professional development this year, far more than at the district’s other schools. They learn about childhood trauma from mental health counselors, work out plans for the “restorative circles” where students open up about their emotions, and practice using the school’s computerized learning system.
Last school year, teachers were frustrated when their discipline referrals piled up in a backlog and Haynes deleted 159 referrals without action. This summer, Haynes met with them to get input on what should be deemed a “major” referral and what could wait for a day or longer.

A year-and-a-half teaching at Liberty Hill Academy nearly broke Sandra Lemen.
Middle-schoolers at Charleston County’s alternative behavioral school threatened to kill Lemen, hit her with a trash can, and made graphic sexual comments and propositions, according to the longtime teacher who lost her job this year.
They stood on the desks and openly mocked her. They left class and roamed the halls with impunity. Her room was equipped with an intercom button to request backup from the front office, but she said students sometimes physically blocked her from pressing it. And even when she filed formal reports with the principal’s office, Lemen said she didn’t get the help she needed.
“The students ran the school,” she said.

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Documents from the Charleston County School District show thousands of disciplinary reports went unprocessed for an entire school at a CCSD alternative school.
Liberty Hill Academy is CCSD’s K-8 alternative program and day treatment center that has around 100 students.

One of the students who went to Liberty Hill Academy last year was Cristell Wooten’s 13-year-old son.
“It was a very short amount of time because he was getting harassed from day one,” Wooten said. “There was not one day my son didn’t get hit, wrote on, teased, tripped, things thrown at him. Like every day. Every single day.”

The referrals include 348 incidents of major disruption, 175 threat incidents, 109 incidents of hitting, kicking and pushing students, 62 incidents of fighting, and 82 simple assault incidents. Those numbers were provided by the district through the Freedom of Information Act.
Haynes said the school has taken measures to keep up with disciplinary referrals after having nearly 4,000 last year school year.

"We were making Snapchats, that's what we always do," she said. "We were making Snapchats, she gave me a kiss on the cheek."
What happened next would result in a fractured spine and fear so deep, she didn't want to appear on camera.
"I don't think I'm ever gonna get on a train again," she said.
She is just 20-years-old. After that kiss from her friend, she says a man started shouting homophobic slurs.
"He said, 'do those gay things in front of me one more time and watch what happens'", she said.
She and her friend started to walk away from the man, who was coming closer.
"I felt him right behind me, I felt a punch in my back," she said. "And it all happened so quick it was just a blur," she said.
But the attack was just beginning. "I turned around and he already had his hand on my chest and he threw me back which caused my head to hit the pole and my back hit the ground first, which fractured my spine," the woman said.
Others on the train were trying to protect her, and when the train stopped at Forest Hills, the man got out and escaped.
An ambulance came for the woman, who still wears a brace for her neck because of the fracture.
"Last week I spent the whole week crying and in excruciating pain," she said.

Cell phone video shows the fight spilled onto the street and stopped traffic on Olive Street in Scranton around 3 p.m. just as students from Scranton High School were dismissed for the day.
Police say three officers were called to stop a fight involving a small group of students, but once officers told the kids to go home, students started kicking the officers.
Police say more students joined the fray and the group swelled to 60 or 70 kids.

A group of men are seen robbing a restaurant patron in Sherman Oaks, with one of the men pointing a gun at the victim as he sits in an open patio, in video released by the Los Angeles Police Department Tuesday.
In the video, two men are seen walking up the victim as one of them first points a gun at him and a third man comes and wraps his arms around him. It all happens while the victim is sitting in the patio area.
The other robber appears to be grabbing possessions from the victim, who is seen wearing a black leather baseball cap and a black and white sweater with “Givenchy” lettering on the front.
The men continue trying to grab things from the victim as one man keeps holding up the gun. One of the men is seen trying to pull the victim’s watch off before he finally takes off with the other two.
According to police, the three robbers escaped the scene in a 2012-2014 white, four-door Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which was driven by a fourth suspect. Another suspect was inside a white Infiniti QX70, which police said was parked across the street from the Mercedes-Benz during the robbery.
Once the Mercedes-Benz took off, the Infiniti also fled behind it, according to police.
Police have described the Infiniti as having black wheels and tinted windows while the Mercedes-Benz also has tinted windows.

As many as 15 youths of African appearance were roaming St Kilda's foreshore on Thursday night before setting upon a young chef and another innocent man.
The violent incident spilled onto Jacka Boulevard blocking traffic as it escalated into a melee involving other kitchen staff.
It came as Opposition Leader Matthew Guy renewed his push to talk tough on crime ahead of the November 24 election, saying Premier Daniel Andrews "makes excuses for those who break the law".
Chef Daniel Maetzing said he feared he would be killed as the gang rained punches and kicks on him, before clubbing him with a pole and glassing him with a champagne bottle.
"The first thing I got was a blow to the back of the head," he told Nine News.
"All I saw was just a person jumping in full swing motion and then going straight at it. There was just constantly punching and kicking."
Another victim – a 23-year-old man who was taking a stroll along the foreshore on the hot and muggy night – was punched in the head and left with severe swelling to his face, police said. His phone was also stolen.
The attack followed a Halloween-night crime spree by a group of mostly African youths that spanned six suburbs from South Yarra to Patterson Lakes.
Five men ambushed a young mother in her driveway, threatening her with a machete and covering her mouth before stealing her car in the early hours of the morning.
The Age can reveal police are also probing a violent home invasion in Brunswick West where six men smashed their way into a house about 4.30am on Tuesday.
The home invaders, armed with knives and hammers, confronted two victims and demanded money and jewellery before fleeing in the victims' black Jeep Cherokee. The vehicle was found in Deer Park the following day.
Police on Friday called for a full alcohol ban to be reintroduced along St Kilda foreshore.
"The bans are important because you've got a public open space, you've got young people congregating and international backpackers," Inspector Jason Kelly said.
"Put alcohol in there, it's a recipe for disaster."
There were several violent assaults in St Kilda last summer. In December, a large group of youths were alleged to have bashed and robbed beachgoers in a wild brawl on the St Kilda foreshore in the early hours of the morning.

A mother who was beaten on a train after her 8-year-old son asked her why another child on the train was wearing a costume said her attacker hit her so hard that her "feet lifted off the floor."
Margaret Nielson, 50, was on an E train at 74th Street and Roosevelt Avenue with her son two days after Halloween when her son noticed another child wearing a costume, she told NBC 4 New York in an exclusive interview.
The costume caught her son's eye because he enjoys wearing costumes and often dresses up as different superheroes, Nielson said.
"... [H]e looked over and he saw a little boy about six wearing a bumblebee costume," Nielson said. "To see somebody his age wearing stuff that he wears, and especially out on the train... he thought that was the coolest thing."
Police say the two women with the bumblebee costume-clad child were upset by Nielson's son's comment.
"She got up, and she was screaming at me, screaming at me," Nielson recalled. "She started cursing at me, telling me to tell my kid to show some respect, and have some respect."
"I was like, 'He wasn't speaking to you, he was speaking to me. And it was an innocent comment from an 8-year-old kid,'" Nielson said.
That's when one of the women attacked Nielson, she recalled.

Police are seeking two men who allegedly robbed a 16-year-old in Queens after calling him a "f***ing Trump supporter" and making a racist threat against white people.
A New York Police Department spokesman confirmed to Newsweek on Tuesday they were looking for information about the duo who approached the teen inside the Forest Hills/71 Avenue station on August 29 around 10:15 p.m. The perpetrators were both described as black and allegedly made several racial comments to the teen, telling him "We're going to show you how white people treat black people," before labeling him a "Trump supporter."
NYPD said the two men, who were seen on the Queens subway station's surveillance system, demanded the teen hand over his wallet and other valuables. The 16-year-old gave them his cell phone and $24 in cash before the pair walked off the southbound F train platform and exited the Forest Hills/71 Avenue subway station.
Despite President Donald Trump being a Queens native, this is not the city's first alleged incident involving the targeting of "Trump supporters." Earlier this year, accountant Greg Piatek filed a lawsuit against The Happiest Hour in Manhattan's West Village after he was allegedly kicked out for wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat. In April, a judge tossed the lawsuit, saying the law can't protect political discrimination and “supporting Trump is not a religion," the Associated Press reported.
The president's supporters have frequently cited "intimidation" from the city's residents who overwhelmingly support Democratic candidates. In the 2016 presidential election, Democrat Hillary Clinton received 79 percent of the vote, with Trump only winning a majority of the votes in the borough of Staten Island.

At least 3 Blacks Knock Drunk White Dude Unconscious and Kick Him On the Ground - Colin Flaherty Commentary Video "Man beaten unconscious near Radford University campus, police say"

RADFORD, Va. - Radford police said Monday they’re searching for at least four people who they say beat a man unconscious early Sunday morning, a few blocks from the Radford University campus.
Police said video taken during the incident shows the victim lying motionless on the ground. It shows people kicking him, while others try to push them away.
Police said the man was unconscious when they arrived and is in “critical but stable condition” at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He said the victim looked like he was drunk as he told a group of people that he could beat anyone in a fight. The man said the conversation escalated from there before someone punched the victim.
“One of them walked around and just knocked him straight in the face - from the side, so like from a diagonal angle behind him. He got hit pretty hard and then went down after that,” the man said.
He said people then rushed toward the fight, and 30 to 50 people were in the parking lot.
“From the video you can tell there are people standing around and witnessing this happen,” she said. “Right now (police) are asking any witnesses or any potential suspects to come forward.”
There's a security camera nearby. Employees with leasing company that owns the apartment complex said they’re working with police.
Radford police ask anyone with information to reach out to them by calling Lt. P.J. Rutzinski at 540-267-3207, or through email at [email protected].

Gilotti's wife said she worried about his safety every day he served in Iraq. He came home safely only to have his life taken as he walked out of their front door, six days before their eighth wedding anniversary.
Hoover police believe Gilotti's death may be connected to a series of at least 10 car break-ins that were reported in the same neighborhood.
Hoover police spokesperson Captain Gregg Rector said the 33-year-old homeowner was fatally shot as he was leaving for the gym. Rector said it's possible Gilotti may have encountered someone who was trying to break into cars on his street.
Rector said Gilotti was shot once in the upper body, collapsed in front of his home and died at the scene.
Rector said the victim's wife called 911 to report the shooting. After police began to investigate the homicide, they began getting the reports of car break-ins.
All 10 of the break-ins investigated so far happened to cars that were unlocked, Captain Rector said. Police on the scene of the homicide discovered some of the car break-ins and others were reported by neighbors in the area.

Joerod James Adams, 19, was killed, but the two other victims, a 16-year-old female student and a 17-year-old male student, are expected to survive their injuries, police said.
Investigative efforts suspect the male victims were at the game together and were the direct targets of the shooting.
The female victim appeared to have been struck by a stray round, according to police.
The JSO said the male victims have ties to known criminal street gang members.
The Sheriff's Office said there were several fights and disturbances during the football game, and they said they will be looking into those to see if there are any connections to the shooting.

Stung by criticism after a string of violent crimes, BART’s Board of Directors voted Thursday to update the transit system’s surveillance cameras and install emergency call boxes.
The two measures, approved in a 6-3 vote, were part of a $28 million public safety package announced this week by General Manager Grace Crunican. It also included proposals to build barriers to deter fare evasion and install a large screen at Civic Center Station to remind riders that they are under surveillance.
Her most controversial idea was a ban on panhandling, which prompted vigorous opposition from civil rights activists. Some said it would unfairly target the mostly African American youth who break-dance on BART for money.
“The answer is not a rushed surveillance proposal that poses a unique threat to Latinos and African Americans,” said Mike Chase of the American Civil Liberties Union, arguing that technology could enable racial profiling.
Although most speakers at the meeting objected to BART’s reform effort, some applauded the extra police patrols. One woman dangled a sign that said, “More Police = Rider Safety.”
Board Director Rebecca Saltzman raised questions about the $28 million cost of the reforms, which include $25 million in recommended capital improvements, and $3 million annually for labor and other costs. She noted that Crunican’s list of proposals lacked a financing plan.
But Keller argued that the cost of inaction “is far greater.”

As she dressed for her mother-daughter day of brunch, shopping, and a movie, weighing heavily on her mind was President Trump’s racist tweet questioning the intelligence of both NBA superstar LeBron James and CNN’s Don Lemon. It was also former President Barack Obama’s 57th birthday, so she decided to put on her Black Lives Matter shirt and promptly forgot about it. Until she entered a Target store across Route 38 from Cherry Hill Mall and noticed a white female shopper shooting her a dirty look.
Gasman continued shopping. As she waited for her daughter to exit a dressing room, an older black woman approached and said, “I love your T-shirt.” The stranger walked away, only to return and say, “I want you to know that your life matters to me as well.” She also took Gasman’s photo.
ticket seller flashed her a smile and said, “Nice shirt.” But an older white male rolled his eyes and shot her a dirty look. A black woman in a parking lot with two young boys in tow smiled.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - A teen is recovering after being attacked in East Nashville by a group of young boys.
It happened in the middle of the day Friday while Gavin Tyler was going for a run
"They looked a bit menacing, so they looked like they were up to no good," he recalled.
Gavin picked up his pace, but the group of boys soon caught up and one of them struck him in the back of his head. Gavin said he tried to run away but decided to stop fearful they may have a weapon.
"I just stood there and took the punches. It was a battle of wit in my case. I did tell them to stop and I said I didn't do anything to you and they just kept punching," he said.
Gavin said he was hit six more times in the face and told to give up his cell phone and wallet or else.
"They were saying I'll go get a .45 caliber and I'll pop you or I'll stick you with a knife," he explained.
Gavin said they took his cell phone and the boys took off. On his walk home, a neighbor stopped and called the teens mom to the scene.

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Concerns over crime are partly to blame for a steep decline in the number of people riding the Metro system in the St. Louis region, according to some local leaders.
News 4 requested the numbers. In just four years, rides on Metro have dropped by 21 percent. There have been millions of fewer fares, with across-the-board decreases in rides on the bus and the train and on both sides of the river
Roach said Bi-State recently asked for more tax dollars from St. Clair County, something he said is unsustainable.
According to Mefford-Millers, some of the reasons why are that driving a car is more affordable and ride-shares like Uber and Lyft are becoming more popular. Still, she said they are making changes.
In the meantime, you should expect to see changes to routes, which is bringing mixed reaction from some riders on the impact.
The system is subsidized with tax dollars.
That’s one of the reasons News 4 will keep watching out for your money and keep tracking the system.
