In late 2013 and into 2014, mass protests erupted in Kyiv, Ukraine, demanding integration into western economies and an end to systemic corruption that had plagued the country. The Justice Department is reportedly looking into potential illegal lobbying allegations against a consulting firm tied to Ukrainian energy company Burisma, where President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, previously served on the board.
Politico reported Thursday that four people familiar with the matter said officials are looking into Blue Star Strategies, which took on Burisma as a client when Hunter Biden still served on the board.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Delaware is investigating Hunter Biden's "tax affairs," President-elect Joe Biden's son confirmed Wednesday, saying he takes the matter "very seriously" and is "confident" he is handling his affairs "legally and appropriately."
While visiting Ukraine in December 2015, then-U.S. Vice President Joe Biden warned Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that, if he did not fire Viktor Shokin, who was investigating Burisma Holdings, a natural gas company that Biden's son Hunter Biden was a board member, the Obama administration was prepared to withhold $1 billion in loan guarantees. Biden later said (to the Council on Foreign Relations in this video): "I looked at them and said, 'I'm leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you're not getting the money.' [...] He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time." Shokin was dismissed by Parliament in late March 2016.

In this interview with Ukrainian oligarch Oleksandr Onyshchenko, you will hear a fascinating story that has not yet been fully told in the American media, although it has been widely circulated in Europe and Ukraine.
A former member of the Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian parliament, Onyshchenko was forced to flee Ukraine when he revealed corruption information against former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, who was later revealed to have worked with then Vice President Joe Biden to damage the Trump campaign, and more importantly, prevent investigation into his son Hunter Biden's activities with the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, who was run by an organized crime figure.
Towards the end of the interview, Onyshchenko alleges Joe Biden helped launder $4-5 Billion from Ukraine.
In Dec 2019, Onyshchenko was to travel to the United States to give a press conference on Democrat Party corruption in Ukraine. The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv would not give him a visa, so he procured one though the U.S. Embassy in Hungary.
Upon attempting to leave Germany, he was arrested on an Interpol warrant from Ukraine, to prevent his testimony from being released in the United States.
He alleges he was poisoned with arsenic in the German prison.
